Combining a chatterbait with other traditionally non-chatter plastics has been extremely productive for me this week at my local spillway. I caught five different species yesterday on a chatterbait head(usually 1/8 "micro" or the 1/4oz willowvibez painted with Sally Hansen strobe light nail polish and clear coat) plus 2.75" worm (either white lightning or coppertreuse).
Had a flathead catfish break a 17lb rod on a 1/8oz zman micro chatter rigged that way. Snapped my 15lb line like it was butter. I got its head on the bank before it broke the line, best guess is minimum 17-25lbs. Hooked two alligator gar, landed one. Two crappie. Four channel cats, two nice size keepers. One drum. Wild how I've been catching everything BUT bass since I caught my species PB largemouth. Going out again in the morning with the same stuff, gonna see what happens.
But to your point, or their point. Combining chatterbaits works. You should do it.
