  1. I have the smallest bass on this post, but it's honest work and I'm happy to be included alongside the other folks who catch fish for real
  2. Thanks y'all, I feel better for sure. I was 247 then, and at the doctor this morning I was 203. It's been work and I still have about 10-15 to go. Hopefully I can get a workout from lifting bass again soon
  3. Thanks! She hit like a freight train. And yes, I have. Just over 40lbs since mid November. I appreciate that you noticed
  4. A friend took us out to the local nuclear power plant lake on Thursday. Water temps about 77 degrees. It was my buddy's birthday, he caught all the numbers and I caught the big bass at the end of the day. Probably like three to four pounds. Nothing like fast squarebill fishing in mid February. I haven't been out since, work took me away from a trip I'd hoped to make to a special central Texas lake. Spawn is just around the corner
  5. I mean if it's heavier than a tournament pro I'm usually complaining so "heavy" is relative
  6. Yes I understood the purpose of a boron control rod in a fission reactor core, but you see the joke doesn't exactly work if I say "control rods", as part of the joke is the rhyme between "fission" and "fishin" <-son of physician
  7. Y'all telling me they made fishing rods out of the same stuff as fission rods Might as well tell me a shrimp fried this rice
  8. Bass pro neon grape
  9. I don't belong in that group of fisherfolk, they're a cut above. but I appreciate the tag 🙏 If I had Elon musk money I would own Allison. The factory, preferably I don't *need* much of anything. But I *want* to go fast
  10. It's not as cold here as it's been some other places but it's been cold for an extended period. I think the second we start warming up it's game on
  11. My work here is done
  12. Hangin out on the ripraps getting blanked with my friend Sssssteve (pictured)
  13. My favorite vinyl cover to cover is Boston I
  14. I blanked today but I got to see a cormorant take off and drop a huge deuce right onto the head of a blue heron. That's a catch of sorts. I wish I had that on video. We're due for a huge cold blast this weekend so hopefully some decent fishing comes after that
  15. I remember almost every big fish I've ever lost. They haunt certain spots for me lol
  16. all of them because that means i'm fishing more
  17. i've never gotten hate on my gear i also cast pretty far so generally people want to know what i'm using (the best answer is good technique) i wouldn't cast hate on someone's gear, i have stuff i think is best but whatever gets the job done is great
  18. Finally. Got on the board three weeks earlier than last year. Green pumpkin jig, sunny 48f with north winds to 30mph. Third cast. Now I'm going home for coffee because I did not bring the appropriate gloves
  19. Red eye shad and walking bait have caught at least 80% by weight. I know those two lures account for at least 75% of my 5+ size fish
  20. We don't like to think about that lol It can take 6550s too. Comes with those stock but I prefer the kt88. Just have to be careful on install, kts have a little less clearance. I used to retube amps. Nice thing about the super bassman is it has an auto bias circuit (v2 thankfully) so swaps aren't such a task. Essentially able to treat it like a cathode bias 6v6 or el84, computer does the rest. But yes, a full set of six replacement power tubes is about $330
  21. I'm still waiting on mine. Had three bites the other day but couldn't connect. First swipes on a jerkbait of the season. Tomorrow it's a high of 37 with wind chills between 6 and 16. I'll be hitting the rocks with some cautious optimism because it's supposed to be sunny. I have a lineup of jerkbaits to throw. And the dang jig
  22. Welcome. I'm about an hour to your northwest, nice to have another in the dfw crew
  23. Idk if this thread has been started yet but I'd like to see everyone's best basses of 2024. This doesn't necessarily have to be LM or SM specific, just your most memorable and favorite catch of the year. Because ultimately the memory is what makes the catch, right? I'll start. I caught this one evening in late March, it was 7lbs 5oz on a bone choppo 75. Not even two months later, an EF3 tornado tore through my home lake and shut me down for a solid three months on this water body. The marina signs are still being held up by stacks of rubble. I digress. I was working the lure slowly, to a point where I could feel each turn of the prop in my hand. The fish hit super lightly, as if it just came straight up under the lure and just opened its mouth. It wasn't until I felt it pull and set the hook that "I Knew". It wasn't a particularly long fight, but on a medium light rod it felt like an absolute giant. Pulling it out of invasive milfoil with that light rod was a task. Of the 7lb fish I have caught, this one might be the most balanced and healthy specimen I've ever caught. It's for sure the biggest bass I've caught all year, but also the most memorable. My hand was cramping holding it for pics and weight. Time out of the water was maybe 60 second, but it's maybe the most memorable 60 seconds of the year. Let's see em
