  1. Don't sweat it. They're tough little critters. I've caught several healthy fish that had recovered from an obviously broken back. Others that had survived the jaws of muskie. Your hooks ain't hurting them much. You don't mind hooking them in the mouth, why let hooking them anywhere else bother ya? I feel bad about the rare occasion I blind one. I eat the ones I gullet hook. Other than that..... meh... they're fine.
  2. X2 I've been very happy with these as well.
  3. But, oh what a PB it was!!! Been awhile since I caught a PB bass. It was 2007 for LM, 6lb 10oz, and 2018 for my PB SM at 6lb 4oz. Caught my PB saugeye 6lb 14oz in 22, and my best muskie 46" in 21.
  4. I stand corrected. Seems those hooks on the top baits come in handy when the schooling fish are eating them. Way to go Alex. Maybe I'll manage triple snails next spring if I'm lucky. ?
  5. 766. I have a 766 Sierra and a 765 Kaden. The 5 power ain't enough for heavy cover IMO. The 766 is the better choice.
  6. ? Well... I mean... That girl caught more bass on a plopper last year than I caught on everything put together so............ ? ?? Love ya Katie!!!
  7. With the 40% off I'd go with a Kaden over the Fury. That said, I'll take an Ark Tharp or Invoker over any Dobyns up to and including the Champ series. Never fished one, only handled them in the store, but those Falcon Low Riders seem like nice rods for the $$$ too.
  8. Queen? I thought Katie was the Plopper Princess. Dang, she moved on up faster than Weezy Jefferson!!! ?
  9. Bill, Roland, Jerry, Babe... Saturday mornings when I was a kid. Right after cartoons and before big time rasslin. Also the Linders with Fishing Facts magazine.
  10. Or is it more like...
  11. He does seem to "find" an aweful lot of them doesn't he? I think he flashes his badge at the ramp, and confiscates peoples tackle boxes as evidence related to his "investigation" into an international tackle smuggling cartel. Again, I have no evidence, but it's "plausible".
  12. Interesting how much folks experiences vary with braid. 40# 832 holds up well for me fishing in shale, sandstone, and limestone riprap. It's also my favorite for pitching gnarly wood tangles. Fins Infinity has become my braid of choice for chuck-n-wind baits. It's smooth, quiet, and colorfast black. I just spooled one of my flippin sticks with 50# Vicious No Fade a couple trips before I hung it up for the year. Initial impressions are good. Smooth, slick, thin, and handles well. We'll see how it holds up come spring.
  13. I don't think so. If roadwarrior was in charge of the monkey, he'd have moved that high end BFS rig in no time. If your theory of a mod controlling the monkey is correct, my money's on @TnRiver46. He claims to only fish with found lures, used line recovered from trees and untangled, and $2 yard sale combos, meanwhile he's sicking the monkey on all the rest of us poor unsuspecting folks. Not an accusation mind you, just a theory. I have absolutely zero evidence to support it, but it's plausible. ?
  14. You won't be disappointed in that Guntersville if you get one. It's great for flippin and A-rigs. I haven't used it for C-rigs but I'm sure it would work well. It's a versatile taper. It's got some tip to it, and plenty of backbone. It whipped quite a few muskie for me last fall. Hmm... Looking at the above paragraph...... Maybe I am the monkey? ?
  15. Ya know, this reminds me, I've sold quite a few rods for Ark at this point, and I still haven't recieved a commission check from them or the monkey. I can't help but feel like I'm getting the short end of the flippin stick.
  16. I'll be interested to hear others opinions on this, as I've never tried fishing very deep with 3/8. It's my standard weight for fishing around shallow cover, usually with a paddletail trailer, and no trailer hook.
  17. I like the way you think!!! The wife didn't say a word, or bat an eye when the Vibrolux appeared in the living room. I have a suspicion she thinks I brought the Classic 30 up from the cave. Same size, both tweed with oxblood grill cloth...... ? Shhh... Those twins are AWESOME if you have a place you can wind 'em up. My buddy has a 69 silverface. Something about being able to feel those big open chords resonate in your chest that makes ya feel like a kid again. A-Jay has his sales pitch perfected. Show a box full of baits, then a couple 6-7 pound brownies caught on them. Works everytime.
  18. I fish cover with braid. My reels used for that have 15-20# of drag, and I keep 'em cranked down. Never had a bass pull drag on 'em, but flatheads and muskie sure will.
  19. Ain't that the truth. It would probably get me a few more, but I'm happy with my success last fall. My guide friend averaged four per day through that bonanza with FFS. I wasn't far behind with 24 in 7 trips without it. We took different aproaches and fished to our stengths. He and his clients mostly fished offshore, targeting fish feeding in the big shad schools, and caught a bunch that he located and targeted with FFS. I mostly fished structure from the shoreline out to the first break in main lake basins.
  20. Me too. I was planning on picking up a Garmin soon, but the transmission started slipping in my old Tundra today so......
  21. Baby Rage Craw, twintail grub, small size beaver type bait. The beaver if I could only have one.
  22. #Bruthafromanothamutha!!! ?
  23. LOL. I get beat regularly by several monkeys. It's not limited to fishing. A couple weeks ago a new 5f11 Tweed Vibrolux showed up in my living room. That makes eleven amps in the current inventory, and an equal number of guitars. My 56 gun safe is also pretty dang crowded. I blame it all on my birth defect. I was born without a willpower, and the monkeys take advantage of my condition.
  24. Carefull!!! Yer gonna get @Catt riled up with that kinda talk.
  25. Nope they're free. Fingers crossed that March and April will be as good as November and December were.
