  1. Much to my surprise, this has been my experience with the Alberto as well. Great leader knot. Small, strong, and easy to tie out on the water.
  2. ? I was about to warn him to be careful what he asks for from you!!! LOL.
  3. When I saw the title, I thought you were talking about this.
  4. Rod, reel, line, and hook all have to be up to the task at hand. You're setup is only as capable as it's weakest link. The bait is secondary. I can catch fish on most any brand of jig, or beaver, or craw, or worm, or..............
  5. LOL We're about to get on that late winter/early spring roller coaster ride. I made some more progress these last couple warm days. Got the decking riveted in and a good part of the Seadek down. Seadek would be completed but USPS is taking their time with the flat head stainless screws I need for the front seat base. Couldn't find any local. Those front few pieces will have to wait until it warms up again next week. I should have the floor between the rear and middle seats installed tomorrow, then on to electrical. Timeline is tight, but I think I'm still on track to have it ready to fish the first week of March. Ice may be gone by then if the forecast holds.
  6. I like braid dig in. The #1 cause is sticking a biggun in heavy cover and winching it out. HMMPH!!! GIT OVER HERE!!!
  7. We have zebra mussels in all our lakes now, though not in real high concentrations here yet. I haven't had any issues so far, but that'll probably change over the years as their density increases.
  8. Good point. I can confirm 832 does very well in broken Shale, Sandstone, and Limestone.
  9. Yup. Different lineup here, but the same approach. Usually 8-10 rods on the deck, at least 4 are MH or H, and often 5 or 6. Jigs, Trigs, Stupid Tubes, Swim Baits, Spinnerbaits, Buzzbaits......
  10. Wait a minute... Don't cats always land on their feet? Oh yeah, cats do, Catts... Not so much. ?
  11. I fish 20# - 40# 832 in rock on a regular basis. I retie it a heck of a lot less than mono or flouro. That Gore fiber lives up to the hype. Hands down the best performing braid I've ever used. I use mono for trebles and small single hooks, and 832 for everything else these days.
  12. Hope ya feel better soon Catt. Glad ya caught a few. You keep this up we're all gonna have to chip in and get you a hoveround with pontoons on it. ?
  13. I've caught 'em up to about 8# in the Tuscarawas River. They do love shallow backwaters in summer. Definitely don't wanna stick your fingers in their mouth. I think they're a pretty neat fish and enjoy catching one now and then. As flyfisher mentioned, they're beautiful when lit up in their spawning colors.
  14. My Excalibur Matrix 330 has put 40+ deer in the freezer over the years, and several on the wall. Super accurate, dead simple, easy to **** and decock with the rope cocker, and durable. Nothing I don't like about it. It's paid for itself many times over in meat. Excalibur smoked this guy at 30yds in 2020. It ain't the fanciest or fastest out there, but it kills'em dead year after year.
  15. Doesn't get more organic than wild game. High protein, low fat, no roids, no antibiotics.... Lots of different great flavors out there, just gotta go get'em.
  16. I'm a lifelong member of PETA. People Eating Tasty Animals. As far as trophy hunting... There's some great memories in those heads hanging on my walls. How others feel about it is irrelevant to me.
  17. I hadn't heard that one in years!!! LOL!!!
  18. In California? Only if you use lead shot, or use an "assault" shotgun.
  19. I have a few Veritas Winch rods, and have no hesitation recommending them. They're light and sensitive for a cranking rod, and tough as nails. Price is right too.
  20. I'm with KP Duty. I have that rod, and it was always a pitchin stick for me. Definitely on the stout side for a MH.
  21. Roughly 20-30x the size of the lakes I fish. Y'all got bays bigger than our lakes.
  22. Killing does over a corn pile is a piece of cake. Mature bucks? Not so much. They know what goes down around those feeders.
