Thanks, lake where i fish fish its rare to find a fish that can take such a big hook,
Largest perch i catch look like this
We also have roach about same size, but it has little mouth and also the carp, which is not too big either.
I guess i'll save circle hooks for sea surf fishing.
I never seen circle hooks smaller than size #6 or at best #8 for sale, i know they intended for salt water, but i wanted to try for freshwater, however i usually use small J-hooks #10 or #12 most of the time and #8 circle hook looks huge compared to them.
Every time i change lures i waste at least 1-2 inch of line it was fine when i used regular mono, however with braid line its bit expensive.
Should i tie a quick connector on the end of the line and use it to connect it directly to baits or tie a mono shock leader from connector to bait thus eliminating need to waste a braid line each time i switching baits?
Are there any downsides to using connectors, for instance someone told me they lower sensitivity if float fishing fishing when there's no tension on line, or can make swim bait move wrong if connected directly to it.
I read somewhere on the forum someone mentioned if line guides are further away from the rod it gives less resistance,
Why casting rods have guides very close to the plank compared to spinning rods?
Oh i did not know purpose of it is to loose the weight, but keep the rest of the rig. I think though knot just untie itself not snag.
I still don't like the idea though, never had a sinker stuck at the bottom, hooks yes, sinker no.
I really cannot stand those and find them very useless, for small line like 0.15mm (4lb line) they are close to useless, never hold weight tight enough and its pain to tie loops around them.
General fishing (not for bass) lure weight about 5-20g (1/5oz - 3/4oz) max 10-30g (1/5oz - 1oz).
Need to cast decently far.
This one is for freshwater fishing with baitcaster not conventional reel.
I'll try to manage with decent length rod if i cant i get, a small one to learn.
Let me put it this way, is length over 8' common to use with baitcaster on freshwater? Say 9' or 10' or 11ft?
I dont want this thread to be about Chinese vs Japanese or US made purely technology discussion i know for instance Daiwa sells reels with "slant spools" and "trough cone lips" that go all the way e.g.
Another property lip design standard flat lip vs cone lip going all the way, i think later one increase chances of wind knots? How far from edge you supposed to spool line in reel that has cone style lip?
Thanks for all info very helpful i am buying a deep spool (aka big pit reel).
Now other question i have is daiwa cross wrap reels, are there any other reels that use same feature or is there alternative name for it?
Hello i want to get a really big spinning reel for far casting (not exactly bass fishing) my question is is it okay to say buy large size 6000 reel that is rated for 0.35mm 0.40mm and 0.50mm line and use it with 0.11mm braid line will i run into any potential problems?
And i am buying a Chinese reel and they often do it have same size reel with different spool sizes, i dont quite get it, is there any other advantage than less weight if using big spool (less capacity) vs small spool (more capacity)?
