  1. I am also interested in the answers to this
  2. Guys, We were given a couple units from a close friend now that he's upgrading his boat and need suggestions on the best way to set them up, transducers, etc. We currently have an Astro 2000xl. We bought it used with no sonar. Because we are on a budget, we have been trying to upgrade when we can. Started with a 9" Elite-Ti2 at the console. This April, I added a 9" Elite FS up on the trolling motor. We have now been given two (2) 12" HDS GEN3 units, structure scan(?) black box and the Totalscan transducer. Both transom and trolling motor have 3-in-1 transducers I believe. Would like ideas for location of units, function and networking. We almost exclusively bass fish, don't really crappie fish and my dad wants to be able to chase hybrids around from time to time. Right now we are thinking one 12" back at the console with another 12" up front with the EliteFS (to run active target at some point). Is there a benefit running HDS over the EliteTi2 at the console for side/down imaging? Will the transducers I have already installed for the Ti2 and EliteFS work with the GEN3's or will I have to install the Totalscan? Will we be able to network units together? What are the strengths or major blindspots of the GEN3's? Any help is much appreciated.
  3. I've had both apps for a while now, and while they are fun to use on the couch, I'm unable to use either one while on the lake. I'm really looking for opinions from guys that already use upgraded chips on those lakes specifically. I know that Truman can be dangerous to navigate and the CMAPs pre-installed in the unit are not always accurate for LOZ. Maybe I should rephrase my request more specifically: I need the best upgraded mapping chip for a Lowrance unit (FS/Ti2) to use on Lake of the Ozarks and Truman. That can be CMAP Reveal, Navionics Platinum or any others you can think of that are compatible.
  4. Guys, I have a Lowrance Elite Ti2 at the console and an Elite FS at the bow. Mapping on the Ti2 is Navionics and the FS is CMAP+. Using them side by side the past couple weeks, each map has its own benefits but also downsides. Example: At LOZ, there are is a major underwater point that doesn't show up at all on CMAP and another that is almost 50yds off to the side of listed location. Navionics doesn't show flooded timber or have full shading/relief. I need to pick up the best card for maps of Truman and LOZ most importantly. Would love to hear from both sides. Not considering changing to Garmin or Humminbird right now so leave that out, please.
  5. I can't remember off-hand, I've added and subtracted boxes. I think the current version is listed for $65 at BP and comes with 2x 3600 boxes. I have 6x 3600 boxes plus the deep compartment one at the top that fits JJ's and a couple deep divers just about right.
  6. Guys, Does anyone have a route or any advice for navigating the flooded timber North of the W Hwy ramp? Is there a long way around by heading NE from the ramp and then over/around the old Trimble Lake? I know it's pretty treacherous if you go straight N from the ramp. Grew up around the lake, but mostly fished the Camp Branch arm.
  7. I just got this 5500c back from a servicing at DVT, ready to throw some swimbaits and A-Rigs. 1973 serial number.
  8. I have the Plano backpack and it's great for what I do. I fit 6x 3600 boxes plus a Gamakatsu deep utility case (blue). One 3600 has flukes and a couple soft plastics, all other soft plastics get kept in a different bag.
  9. It's Roger's Sporting Goods now, but it'll always be Roger's Lures to me. The old location with concrete floors and homemade baits was the BEST for a kid, could wander the aisles for hours. Back then it was almost all fishing, but now they're a huge Mathews archery and waterfowl dealer too, so tackle has lost some real estate on the floor.
  10. That makes sense, it is the 6" model. Looks to me like it could be a decent wakebait?
  11. Hello, My dad recently gave me some of his old musky cranks. I'd like to do a little research and maybe try them out as big bass baits, but I'm having trouble identifying them. The bottom one is marked as Matzuo and is 6.5" long (not including the bill), the others have no markings. Based on the shape and testing I can figure out how to use them, but would like to know what they actually are as those little details are part of what makes the whole experience fun to me. Any help is much appreciated. Long time lurker, starting to post more.
