  1. They look like a plan to me. I am getting started on a reservoir rig and they dont slide too good at all. I bet this will help, cant alway sink the trailer enough, and rollers seem to be mixed on results too.
  2. Man I feel your pain. I think every car I bought when I was younger had been trashed under the dash. the boat seems to be one of those rip out selectively and replace since the moisture is bound to have hidden issues that will haunt you otherwise. I watched my dad struggle over the years with used boats, only to just rip and replace. Solder, solder, solder, solder and stay spade free.
  3. We are trying to get back in the swing after being away from fishing for a while. Wondering how things are out there. We used to fish rocky gorge heavy with trips to piney run and boyds. So, are any of these places doing good bad or what? Divorce changed my couse back in 1993.
  4. I tried to post some pics to give ya some ideas, but being newbie it would not let me. Keep your eyes open, I will get the ten posts soon and hook ya up. Dont be scared to take the benches out, it reall frees up some space and using the lower floor will make her really stable. We did a 1436 back in 1991 that morphed a couple times before we got it right. fill rivet holes with 1/4" s/s bolts and silly cone and nylon lock nuts, frame new stuff the same. It really worked great for us. A boatyard guy showed me to do this, I was skeptical but will be doing it agai her real soon.
  5. Lookin good so far, you will be glad you used alum, I did one in a long time ago in wood and after it sucked up humidity fer a few weeks, you could hardley pick the darn thing up, man wood can really hold some water. Funny place the maker put the coast guard sticker, seems like I have always seen em on the transom. Ya mite outta make sure that can be seen later if ya do any river stuff. We are gettin geared up to do ours, came across a couple plastic foot lockers to house my batteries at wal-mart over near the auto stuff, they are real sturdy and the price was rite. (Acid and alum dont play nice together). We plan to place the batteries center and low with cable to where it is needed, sure made the last boat real stable.
  6. Funny timing. I have been real busy and neglected my snow blower this year and did not drain the fuel in it yet. Man if I wait a little longer I mite be using it again. i bought a floor model a while back with no manual, so I recently downloaded one off the internet. While I was going over it I noticed in the owners manual that they do not want you to drain fuel if you use a fuel stabilizer. There was no explanation why, just says do not drain fuel if using stabilizer. Does anybody have any feedback on how long fuel will stay good with stabilizer in it?
  7. Hey gang, I am new here and have been lurking for a little while since I was too busy at work to start my project. I have done this a few times with my old high school buddy TJ. Seems like life always finds a way to make me part with these projects after a while. The last time I went all aluminum to lose the wood/weight troubles. I found that the wood was like a sponge and would actually hold water when treated with any kind of sealer cuz it seemed like it could not breathe enough to let it back out. That was the way to go, made launching a lot better. sure would like to know what happened to the last one. I will have to post a pic and see if it is still around. This time I plan to stay aluminum, picked up a 16 footer with a wider beam, have the aluminum sheets cut now(wow that was expensive) and a friend has given me an old 36 volt golf cart electric outboard he had. Does anybody here have any experience with these hotrod outboards? what can you pass on to avoid troubles and hazzards?
