  1. The 8 strand stealth smooth is pretty good and the regular 4 strand stealth is okay. Wouldn’t touch their EZ Braid with a 10 foot pole, that stuff is awful. I tend to stick with PowerPro and Sufix 832 when it comes to braid.
  2. Depends on what you’re throwing. Big thing is that mono floats and FC sinks, so for bottom contact and moving baits, FC gets lures to depth better. Topwater you’d want mono so the line sits on top of the water
  3. I’ve tried various cheap FC lines and they aren’t good for anything except being a leader. The best FC I buy as mainline is Invizx
  4. Bantam all day, if you want a Curado, I agree with @Rockhopper. The 150MGL Curado is an amazing reel and the best value reel Shimano makes
  5. Yeah I used to break off like that too. I still do on spinning reels. But I am 70% sure that’s how I bent a spool shaft on a Revo SX
  6. Sweet looking combo and even better fish. That white bass is a slab!
  7. T-rigged lizard. Only time I use it, and one of the only things I use targeting spawning bass
  8. Unless they are AGS guides I cant really tell the difference in sensitivity. Weight and rod balance are affected though. Alconites are good but they are heavier than SiC or Torzite
  9. It’s really kind of splitting hairs as I think around the $300 price point, you are getting a rod with close to top end sensitivity, but if I had to rank the ones I have experience with- 1. Shimano Expride B 2. St Croix LTB 3. Daiwa Tatula Elite AGS (last gen) 4. Dobyns Champ Extreme HP 1-3 is very close. I think the AGS rods feel more “loud” I guess than the Expride or LTB because of the guides, but as far as discerning what I’m feeling, those 2 have the edge and are very close. The Champ HP is a tiny bit behind those other 3 IMO.
  10. Jigs, chatterbaits, cranks- Invizx FC Topwater- Big Game mono
  11. Well I thought about it and ended up using my credits towards protecting my gear got 9 rod gloves and 5 reel covers for $18 all said and done. I’ve had too many rod breakages and eye issues due to them all getting tangled up in the truck. I even let them ride in the cab and I still have problems
  12. Been thinking of replacing my old Nasci FB 1000 on my UL setup (st Croix premier 6’ UL) just saw by stacking the current sale on the reel, Presidents’ Day sale, and Omnia credits, I can snag a 1000 size Seviin GX for $48. For a reel that’s normally $190, that seems good but does anyone have experience with this reel?
  14. I had a Psycho Stick that I liked before I sold it. Never tried the X-Series but they look like sweet rods
  15. This^ i would tighten the crap out of the reel nuts and it caused about 1/4 inch of play in the reel seat of one of my LTB rods. Still useable but there is a little gap now. Other than that I haven’t had any issues with my 7 Croix rods and the service has been great.
  16. I haven’t fished the XTs but I have the regular Tatula rods and the Premiers. With the Tatula rods you are getting a different blank, not sure if it’s better but it is nice. You also get a cork handle and FazLite guide inserts instead of Aluminum Oxide. I hear the XT rods are great and punch above the $100 price point, however, the regular Tatula rods are great and outperform their $150 dollar MSRP. Even more so now being on sale, not sure if BPS has them marked down but a lot of places do right now. The Premiers are nice rods as well. They have AO guide inserts, cork handles, and are made in the USA with a great warranty if that is important to you. I’d still say the Tatula is a better overall rod, but its up to you if it’s worth sacrificing a little performance for peace of mind and a USA made product.
  17. Really I’ll fish in weather depending on my personal comfort limits. As long as the water isn’t iced over (which it usually isn’t in DFW) fish will bite. However if it’s below freezing and cloudy/windy I typically won’t put myself through the torture. Hard to fish slow when the weather is that cold. Anything above freezing and it being sunny out, or over 40 on a cloudy day, I’ll be out there. No matter the weather, fish still gotta eat.
  18. Darn, I was worried about that lol. My PA has a broken tip guide and I was gonna replace it with the express program. Given that the 2018 PA is discontinued, I’m guessing they’ll send a 2024 model. I do fish a lot of Texas rigs though and I’m sure both the PA and 7’3” HXF LTB would see action, just would mean I’d need another moving bait rod
  19. How does the 2024 model Poison Adrena 7’3” MH compare to the 2018 model? Is the action different? I have the 2018 version and was interested if anyone had both and can compare the 2
  20. Fishfield.com has Steez AGS rods for $357
  21. Imagine snagging that thing
  22. Well I got it in the mail today and it’s a sweet reel. It’s as smooth as my Zillions and looks really nice. I will say it’s more clickity clackity than a Zillion but that doesn’t bother me. Supposed to hit 70 degrees next week so I hope to try it out when it warms up. Wind chills were below zero yesterday, I guess that beaver really did see his shadow
  23. Before they changed them and got rid of the AR switch, Pflueger Presidents were amazing for the price
  24. I have a Steez, 4 Zillions, 2 Alphas, and 2 Tatulas. Safe to say I love my Daiwas. However I have also owned most Shimanos from the SLX on up to the Bantam. Sold off most of them except a Curado K and a Chronarch Ci4+. Never tried a Met though. I was going back and forth between another Tat, and Alphas and trying a Met out, and while trying to see how much a Met was gonna be on APF, I accidentally ordered one. It’s the 2020 model 6.2:1 and I snagged it for $245 shipped. So pretty good deal I’d say. Can’t wait to get it in the mail lol
  25. Spinnerbaits I typically run some combo of white and chartreuse, swim jigs and chatterbaits I go white, green/blue, or black and blue depending on which forage I’m trying to match
