  1. I am a big fan of 4 day work weeks. Thanks.
  2. My wife was hosting a “bridesmaid dress try on” party this afternoon so I was forced to go fishing. Poor me. I started out with a couple of nibbles that didn’t pan out. Switched to a shaky head with a pumpkin/chart yum dinger. A few casts later, I feel a tap. I set the hook and up comes a 4lber. She opens her mouth and out comes my bait. That was the second time in two days I’d lost a decent fish on that set up. When I checked he bait, the hook hadn’t even gotten exposed, both times. I decided maybe that’s why most videos suggest a trick worm. That yum dinger just may be too thick for a shaky head. Anyway , I figure the worm is working, even if the rig isn’t. So, I switch he worm to my Texas rig pole. 4 casts later, I set the hook on this girl. 24” long, she weighed in at 6.54 lbs. This is my new PB. I only caught one other this night; but, I didn’t care.
  3. Them or Georgia. Roll Tide!
  4. historically I’ve always used a snap on topwater baits and most crank baits. I was recently throwing a spook Junior and it seem like the snap kept getting caught on the front hook. So I ended up taking the snap off and tying a loop knot and it seem to foul up less. Perhaps I was using the wrong type of snap (Norman Speed Clip). This was on straight braid.
  5. I'd be plenty excited about a 3 lb fish. Congrats.
  6. If I’d know better, I would have opted for a 24v 80lb thrust TM
  7. My PB came in a light rain. Rain doesn't stop me. Lightning is a different story.
  8. Well, I bought some JB Weld MarineWeld and glued the broken mount piece back on. I clamped it as best I could and left it sit overnight. I took the clamp off and hand tested it this AM and it seems to be fine. I'll re-mount it after work and, if I don't get rained out, will put it in the water Saturday. Wish me luck.
  9. Who would have thunk it. Anybody eat them? I bet there's no slot limit.
  10. To be clear, that wasn’t my catch. A friend of a friend sent him that pic to ID, which was in turn sent to me. I’m not a fan of killing fish for no particular reason.
  11. Broke the mount on my triple shot transducer today. It’s a clean break and should be glue able. The question is, what’s the best glue for plastic on plastic? Where it will he immersed in water?
  12. Anybody know what fish this is?
  13. I'm predominantly a morning fisherman. I don't typically catch much when i go in the evening. I've got a fishing buddy who absolutely scores in the evening. I can be in the same boat with him, throwing the same lure and get skunked while he's catching one every other cast in the evening. It's all about confidence.
  14. I went back and forth on this topic for a while. I was using 30# braid with a 15# FC leader tied with the Crazy Alberto and catching fish in a particular spot with regularity. Cut off the leader and didn’t catch any fish in that same spot for two weeks. That’s not to say I didn’t catch any fish anywhere, just none at that spot where I could always count on one or more. I went back to the leader and, you guessed it, I started catching fish in that spot again. Was it the leader or was it my mindset/confidence? I don’t know but, regardless, it’s braid + leader for me on slow moving, bottom contact baits. Your results may vary and my results provide no guarantee that you will catch fish.
  15. Rarely have cash on me. We keep a stash in the gun safe for the apocalypse.
  16. Got one about 2.5" on a cricket hopper once.
  17. I went for a run and came back home after two minutes because i forgot something...... I forgot that I'm fat and can't run for more than two minutes.
  18. Culprit Fire n Ice followed closely by the water melon / red flake yum dinger.
  19. I’ve titled this one “Fishers in the Mist”
  20. Got out yesterday AM ready to slay some LM. Water temp was 64 and the air temp was 55. A buddy had been out the evening before and he and his partner caught 40 on top water so I just knew fish would be jumping in the boat. They weren’t. It was tough sledding but I did mange to trick 7 LM. The best came in at 2.36 kbs.
  21. I’ve wired all of the house my wife and I have built (5). I’m comfortable around it but have a healthy respect for it. However, I have been known to change a light switch out without killing the power. Shame on me.
  22. Another day off last Friday so I hit the lake before the rainstorms moved in. The fish were fairly active and I caught a total of 12. This 3 lber came from behind some small twigs that were sticking up through the water. The bad things is, I was trying to land my worm in front of the twigs, but overshot them. A "well, crap" moment became joy when I felt that solid thunk.
  23. I've always heard about moonbeams but now I have photographic evidence that they exist.... You can barely see it across the top of the roof. One of my favorite times of the day....
