  1. Got out today with BIL. This was his first time bass fishing. He caught three on a wacky worm and TR and it was so much fun watching reel in his first one. His three are in this batch. I added 4 to that bunch and had 4 others that I had to release due to size. This one was the best of the lot @ 16”.
  2. Blue bird skies and high temps dictate shaded areas for me. I've not really found something I won't try in those conditions but I usually stick with TR worms and jibs.
  3. I don't know how they'd play in FL, but here in MS, i've had good luck with the Tiny Torpedo.
  4. Based on advice gained on this forum, I did try the double O-ring setup and found i could save the bait more often than not. It varied from fish to fish. There were some times when I'd set the hook and get back a hook with 2 cute little O-rings hanging off it. I think if something takes your worm (wacky or otherwise) by the tail and never gets the hook in their mouth, when you set the hook hard, you're going to lose that bait and there's just not much you can do about it other than buy in bulk. I do find that i burn through more wacky rigged worms than T-Rigged worms but they both get tore up from the floor up.
  5. I would expect any type of epoxy would work but, in a transparency, i've never had to do that. Dr. Google says anything from super glue to hot glue (unless it's salt water).
  6. You gotta maintain them? What is this sacrilege? ?
  7. All i can afford are lower end rods/reels so, yes, I'm happy with them ?
  8. Won't that result in fewer hookups?
  9. I try to go where most are not and perfect my casts to be closer to the target with a quieter entry. I slow down and go finesse.
  10. Congrats and welcome.
  11. I just bought a Rapala grip to hang on the scale hook. I try to grip on the thinner part of the upper jaw.
  12. Wow! Could you possibly pack anymore information into a video? Excellent stuff. Cant wait to put this to work on the water. Thanks @Glenn
  13. Welcome brother
  14. I love me some top water action.
  15. I've never had any luck on a squarebill. Maybe I'm throwing the wrong ones or working them the wrong way. I wonder if @Glenn has ever done a video on selecting and working a squarebill. That's one I'd sure watch.
  16. Welcome. There's a lot of knowledgeable people on this forum. I'm sure one of them will greet you ? Enjoy your new home and all that entails. I'm envious. I'd love to be able to step down to the bank and fish whenever the urge struck me.
  17. Shade is key for me. I figure that's where the bass will go and where I spend most of my time. If they've gone deep, deep diving crankbaits, slow rolled spinnerbaits and chatterbaits....jibs.
  18. I've actually gone out with only ultra-light gear with intentions of catching panfish. The fight is ON!
  19. Not necessarily a State fan but, being from MS, they're my pick, followed by the Vols or Vandy. People better watch out or NC State and Arizona.
  20. I never ordered one since I rarely go there. The occasional online order if I get desparate enough.
  21. I've never noticed any significant difference in the softness of my Senko's. But, I don't very my colors much.
  22. Now, in addition to my earlier comments, I have been on the negative end of being insanely out fished. From that perspective, it can be pretty frustrating. There's a guy I fish with occasionally who is a good fisherman, I'd say better than me. And I've been in the back of his boat barely catching dinks while he seems to be yanking out a decent fish every other cast. I recall one day in the spring when he out caught me at least 5 to 1. But I also have been on the other side of that. Took my brother out while visiting back around Easter. He couldn't BUY a fish while I was making hay. I out fished him 10 - 1 on the first day and 12 - 1 on the second and that happened to be the day I caught my PB. I know he was frustrated with me because I pointed out a likely spot to which he replied, "Yeah, I could probably catch one there if you'd quit catching them all." But seriously, I kept trying to hint at what he could use, offered to share my hooks/worms/etc and he wouldn't listen so, secretly, I was cacklin' inside each time I'd set the hook.
  23. Me? I’m a M-F kinda guy but, working 3 extra days in a 2 week period for little difference in pay doesn’t bait my hook. I think what you have to ask yourself is, “Which position offers the best future for you?” Sounds like you’ve been moving up the ladder. If you stay where you are, does that remove the rungs above you? And, if so, do you care?
  24. Sometimes I feel bad, but most times I don’t. Typically, depending on who it is, I’ll offer some advice as to what’s working for me. Sometimes they take it, sometimes they don’t. The funny part is when I’m fishing with my son, if I’m catching fish and he’s not, we’re a team. If he’s catching fish and I’m not, he’s leading the contest.?
