  1. Ok, I'll start by saying that for mono line I'm a regular ole stren guy in clear, not clear blue, just clear. It's been getting hard to find. Anyway, was thinkin of switchin it up for my topwater and crankin stuff. Anyway, what are everyone's opinions on Suffix Elite? Does it frey like trilene does/did? Hows the knot strength? Any issues with this line?
  2. You got Jet fever! LOL! My dad has it two after riding in my rig. We are currently looking around for him right now too.
  3. The hooks that it uses are tiiiiiiny! I mean small brother! I'd look at another style if I were you.
  4. I like my maxxum 70. No problems whatsoever and I'm into my 3rd season on it. I wish I had bought one with the built in transducer though. The cable is a pain in the a$$ at times but over all zero complaints and a very tough motor. I bought a spare prop thinking that I'll go through one a year but I'm still on the original and it's been beat hard.
  5. I own a jet myself. I'd suggest getting a 16ft no less than 48inches wide. You lose 30% of the horsepower when converting to a jet pump. That is why you hear the terms 60/40, 40/30, 25/20 etc. I love my jet and will never own a prop boat. For a first time jetter don't spend over 5 or 6 grand til you learn to run a river as well as learn the maintenance. Once you have owned that for a year or two, then upgrade to a nice jet. Go with handle steering instead of a steering wheel. You can turn 10 times faster when you need to and if you hit a rock the motor pops up instead of hard hitting on the power trim. Just remember when you own a Jet, its not a matter of when you hit but how bad. Its only a matter of time before you hit something. That is part of owning a jet. If you have any other questions feel free to pm me and I'll be glad to spill all the pro's and con's of owning a jet. Stuff most dealers won't tell you.
  6. Looking at doing a "major" upgrade in my jig rods this winter. The question I have is this. For those who have tried the kistler h2lta, I'm wondering if you have noticed a sensativity difference between the telescopic vs the non-telescopic. If so, how much difference have you noticed?
  7. Whatever catches fish man. Nah j/k, honestly like I said, throwing a hair jig is something I've never done. I'm assuming lighter than 1/4 oz and a wire guard is what I like. I can go lighter than 1/4oz and actually fully expect to have to. I just kinda wanted to know what everyone else used. I really don't know why I hear some say a hair jig is what you want to use in "ice out" or late fall situations.
  8. I've fished Patoka and caught plenty of fish out there. I just don't get excited about it when people talk about it. I know I'm about to get a ton of stones thrown at me in a bit, but I think it's the most over-hyped lake in the state. I've fished patoka in april and it's pretty good up by painters creek. If you stay on the nothern fingers west of there they are all pretty good. Pointer 100's, Green/chartruse spinnerbaits, and good ol black and blue jigs and you'll do just fine. Bang the crap out of the spinnerbait on all the timber. You may even burn a rattle trap in any color other than red. They see 100 red rattle traps a day down there in april! LOL! And don't be afraid to go shallow.
  9. Never spent anytime using these and have Zero idea on who makes a good one. Gotta be weedless if I'm gonna use them. Prefer wire gaurd over brush guard, but..... Thoughts, suggestions, or comments. I'd only be using these on a river that is mostly rocky and decent amt of current in some spots but slack in others.
  10. Nice one deadeye! 6.3 already! FYI, to all the Indy guys, The White River Bass Master open team tournament is this weekend. Last year there was about 30 boats I beleive and it was spittin snow. http://www.whiteriverbass.com/Tournament_Flyers/2009-03-21_Cabin_Fever_Open.doc
  11. Top 5 things I love about tackle warhouse. 1. Free shipping on orders over 50 bucks 2. Out of state = no sales tax! 3. Great selection! 4. Good prices on things when they go on sale/clearance. (wish I'd would ahve seen the chronarch mg50 sooner in a right hander! Arg!) 5. It's better than my local boat sport and travel show for displaying new gear!
  12. If you live in Avon, I would just head on up to waveland, racoon, or glenn flint. Cataract or Cagles mill (same lake just called a diff name by diff people) Cataract threw out some weight late last season. it was way too high until late July I think.
  13. Sold all my older style shimanos for the Daiwa Excelers. Love that real for the money. Now that shimano has revamped I may try some of those again.
  14. I looked at these online and thought to myself, self, I wonder what sets this lure apart from the renound lucky craft pointers? Aside from probably price. So I ask this of the Mcstick users, what sets this lure apart from the other jerkbaits? What is it that will make me want to trade in my lucky crafts for the mcstick?
  15. If you fish rivers at all I would get no lest than a 70lb thrust. I have an 18ft aluminum with a 60 horse and wish I would have upgraded to the 80lb thrust. i would go with the minn kota maxxum 80 if I could do it over again. Make sure you get the one with the transducer built into the head of the tm b/c all that wire is a pain in the ars!
