  1. I know it's been beat to death here time and time again, but... Daiwa/Shimano > Quantum Abu>Shimano/Daiwa Just had to say one thing here ^^^ ^^^ Okay, I'm done. :) Cheers!! ;D
  2. I'll be there this weekend. July 11, 12, and 13. I am totally clueless as to what the lake offers for structure. I am just gonna try the old summer patterns and see what shakes loose. ;D Fish on!
  3. Who are you going with? I will be fishing a tourney down there as well. Don't know anything about the lake though. I suspect plastics and topwater in the morning. See ya there!
  4. I have been catching fish on Drop Shot at Marion County Lake. Mostly males. Fishing bluffs in 10-20 FT.
  5. I have owned dark boats and now am fishing a light colored Ranger. The only difference I see is that when I get that fish to the boat they tend to take a lot harder last dive. This wasn't a concearn with a darker boat.
  6. Personally I would ditch the braid. Go with mono. Braids have been known to rip boat cleats off when trying to break them with the outboard. Just imagine what it will do to your reel/ rod over time. Nasty stuff.
  7. Shimano Sedona 1500 or 2500 $49.99 reg price. This is an economic reel for someone on a tight budget. Smooth as silk.
  8. Be careful how you design install the deck extension. When I bought my boat someone really did a number on mickey mousing it. I believe there are drop in extensions for that model. Just remember you can't undrill a hole. Beautiful boat though!
  9. I have two they're really nice. You need to unsrew both of the thumb screws and take the side plate off. The spool comes out and you set the brakes at least this is how mine work. I don't know if Shimano has changed them or not. Good luck.
  10. Before you go crazy rewiring the trailer try checking the ground. Some trailers ground through th hitch others ground off of the truck/tow vehicle. 90 % of these types of problems are caused by intermittent grounding. Then I would check the pigtail connection on both the vehicle and trailer. Most trailers have the ground wire attached to the trailer. Just a suggestion.
  11. Cheers all I'm from Wichita, KS.
  12. I back in till the water is right at the top of the trailer wheel wells. This helps a lot. Yes you can change bow rollers. Also when loading I always throttle up to the bow eye and then leave it in fwd with a little throttle to keep it there while I hook up the winch strap.
  13. Amen, I get tired of drunk fishermen/skiers hawgn up the ramp. If you're to wasted to back a trailer then you should not be on the lake!! >
  14. I would listen to the advice from Reel Mech. He's been servicing reels for quite a long time. We have seen things come and go and the stuff that shimano uses has stood the test of time. My opinion is that Quantum HS will fade quickly as has everything else Quantum has done. Lol,
  15. Usually around here in KS fish do this prespawn. I believe what they are doing is cruising and staging for spawn. The males tend to do this first. Then the females. :-/ :-?
  16. Maybe try a bead blaster or walnut shell blaster media.
  17. Congrats on the new boat!!! Remember All GO No WHOA! ;D ;D Just beee safe.
  18. 1. Anything soft plastic. 2. Tandem willow spinnerbait. 3. Suspending Rogue 4. Lucky Craft Flat Mini Series 5. Rattleback Jig 6. Anything CHOMPERS ( smallies) 7. Rat-L-Trap 8. Daiwa Peanut Series 9. Drop Shot rig ( see no. 1) Somebody stop me. ;D ;D ;D
  19. I like a good Med action rod (graphite) with a fast reel 6.2:1 or 7.0:1 (curado) spooled with 10-12 lb Trilene XT.
  20. I have a couple of humminbirds on my Ranger and they are really bad, (Wouldn't recomend to my sister in law). However I have owned Lowrance products in the past. Coming from an aircraft point of view Garmin is a wonderful product, but is more GPS suited (sonar isn't to whoopie) The X113 has the internal hard drive which will allow you to store info ie hot spots without having to buy the little memory cards. I would recommend the X111 or X113 to any one. I think you can get a reasonable price on X111 because it has been replaced by the X113.
  21. Christmas trees... ;D Er I mean 1/16 oz tubes, trick worms, zulu's, and anything else I can fit under there.
  22. I just kept thinking No but I would do this to your cat. ;D ;D ;D These people need to worry more about gas prices or something of that sort!! Vive le Backyard Alley cat fishing!! ;D
  23. Ok so I'm driving down the highway here in town and I see this brand new billboard... It has a picture of a dog with a fish hook in his snout. Then the caption reads this... You wouldn't do this to your dog? Would you? Man what the _____? > > >
  24. I have a Calcutta 100 and old Loomis MB783 that Reel Mech built for me years ago. I let the situation determine line size but always Trilene XT.
  25. Don't tear into them let a certified tech, like Reel Mech service them reels. He can make them sing!!
