  1. Mostly dragging with small hops in between. On FFS I let the fish reaction dictate it.
  2. I use Neko rigs 99% of fishing trips. They are extremely versatile. My primary use for them is targeting shallow cover. They are good for ffs and deep brush as well. I have found that the Neko rig performs best in highly pressured areas, similar to a wacky worm, however the Neko rig is not as commonly thrown. The applications for this technique are endless and the variations in lure choice are as well.
  3. Rapala Dt-6 weighs 1/2 oz I believe. Og slim 6s by Rapala are also quite heavy .Both balsa both float.
  4. 1. Don't leave to find fish 2. Never rely fully on other's advice 3. Don't work a bait a specific way 100% of the time, let the fish dictate what you do 4. Analyze everything about your catch 5. Safety trumps everything else on the water
  5. I lost 4 a-rigs last month😭
  6. Upwards of 50 new baits to drop this year
  7. First tournament of 2024 ended pretty good. Weighed 5 fish for a total of 12.30lbs on Sam Rayburn this past Saturday putting us in 8th place and giving us a small check. If we would have fished the BFL event we would've placed 30th.
  8. Didn't get a picture of the first one of the year, but got some of the first tournament.me and my partner weighed a total of 12.30lbs placing us 8th with a little bit of gas money.
  9. I'd go with a few of the new sixth sense whales for those cypress. You definitely want to have a keel weighted texas rigged. Other good options include, sixth sense sweeps, megabass magdraft freestyles, and daingerous swimmers by bass mafia. If you want some very unique and high quality for cheap ones go check out 3:16 fishing. I throw their mission fish in all sizes. If there are lots of gizzards I' also definitely pick up a few spro swimbaits
  10. I would like to buy a lead pot, preferably used because it would be a lot cheaper.
  11. Wellll you see thats my problem........ On Rayburn if you find fish on Friday and your tourney is on Saturday two things will happen 90% of the time. The first thing is the fish will completely vacate the area. Like you can't find them anywhere. The second thing is most of the time if you find fish you're gonna learn to share whether you like it or not because somebody else found those fish too.
  12. Thanks for reminding me of this totally slipped my mind at the time. I was to concentrated by getting a good picture in between the bouts of rain.
  13. I believe the largemouth on my left was 5lbs and 3 oz. I think the spot on the left was 2lbs 1 oz which for where I am located in the country is a really good one.
  14. big swimbaits, jerkbaits, a-rig
  15. Hope everybody had a good Thanksgiving. Caught these 2 last Wednesday solo in a rainstorm.
  16. It my be expensive and I can't recall the name and couldn't find it on the internet, but someody rent nice basscats out of East Texas.
  17. Lots of vegetation, braid 50lbs. 7in zaldaingerous swimmer with vmc underspin hooks but swap the screw lock with one off an owner beast hook. You should be able to get enough of a hard hookset with braid like that. In my opinion I would use the Dobyns fury 735c for that situation. I fish extremely heavy grass and this seems to do the trick. If you have grass just stick with the weedless 6 or 7 inch swimbait and I promise you will get the fish you're looking for. There is no need to go buy a bunch of expensive glides if you have heavy vegetation. Good companies are 3/16 Swimbaits, Megabass, Imaktsu, Big Bite Baits, I personally don't like huddleston or savage gear but others do. As @WRB said magnet hook keepers are great. I prefer the magdraft to any other on the market if you fish them straight out of the package. The berkely cullshad is extremely durable but poor color selection and action compared to magdraft. Great option if you have pike in your are that would tear up a magdraft in a heart beat, those things aren't durable. As for line thru swimbait I think the best one out there is a B6 by big bite baits, it has the best action. Another good option is the new unreleased sixth sense line through or the 6th sense panoramas in 9inch version fished fluke style side hooked. Despite the panoramas being so hard to find and confusing for some people to fish I have caught more than 20 6-9lbers since their release. Good luck! Repost on this thread if you catch some with pictures!!
  18. This may sound weird but upsize a lot. When i can't get bit regular/finesse I upsize to 6-8inch baits and even 10-14 inch worms and sometimes this helps. Another thing might be color and or rattles. I'm not familiar with this bait but if it has rattles try one without and vice versa. Good luck!
  19. Couldn't agree more. In addition, on Rayburn you can definitely tell the effects of fish pressure. Fish simply won't bite on Saturdays as good as during the week. Some people who don't fish the lake think that this is just angler's suspicion, it is definitely not. I've had many times on the water with 20-75 fish days during the week days or on sunday nights, but never had a day above 50 on a saturday.
  20. Lots of dudes will back boat you if you're performing better than them. I've experienced this quite a bit but when it happens I just try to make the best of the situation and it usually pays off. I had a buddy of mine that was beating the boater in his boat and ended up winning the co-angler spot of the tournament that this happened to. the boater got so mad the he was getting beaten by a teenager in the back of his boat that he dumped him at the weigh in about 2 and a half hours early. The boater ended up weighing in 1 fish and my friend the co got a check.
  21. Depends if you're talking up which part. Up in the North East parts of Texas I've caught some absolute studs (5-8lbs) in the river. Down on the gulf where the Elite series was this year is very different. The biggest I've ever seen dragged outta down there was a 6lber. The reason isn't because of tournament angling. It's the almost yearly hurricanes, harsh conditions of brackish water, blowing out from dam release, and the large amount of predators and competition found in the river. You can be bass fishing in that river and catch all kinds of inshore saltwater fish, especially reds and gaftops. The damage would still be existent. Arguably worse. This is not my view, however , bringing in dead fish at tournaments can be seen by some as population management. Lots of lakes in the country suffer from having to much catch and release and the fish populations may grow but fish size will decrease due to competition. I hate when I see dead fish at weigh ins but you don't see enough to hurt anything or benefit anything.
  22. Navionics or Navionics plus. What college?
  23. Here in East Texas, most brush is in the 8-25ft range. So when I didn't have livescope, I'd put the boat right on top of the structure I'm fishing and drop shot it. I've also used slabs jigged verticaly but dropshot is better in my opinion. This has worked for me in 12' of water with up to 4ft clarity. Just don't be banging around the boat and you should be good.
