  1. I lied about another response…couldn’t resist based on your silly response. If it wasn’t about me, then don’t quote me when giving your catty little answer. I don’t think you even read what you type. Maybe go back and review the thread and your responses before quoting someone. Frankly, I could give two s@#*’s whether you use both, it has no effect on me and I don’t care whether I influence you or not. NEWSFLASH: THE POST ISN’T ABOUT YOU. To the OP’s question about when you might use t-rig over a jig, I’ll try to summarize @Catt’s answer for you. He has 2: 1). Use a Rage Lobster (good luck with that one) 2). Use both…said another way, he doesn’t think there is a case when you would choose one over the other. Did I get it right???
  2. You’re a funny guy. Your response to the OP’s question regarding potential benefits or situations where you would choose 1 over the other was try a Rage Lobster ?. Every post after that has been you imparting your superior knowledge to correct someone else. Your response to use them both was to reply to me (thanks for the tip ?). Then you proceeded to expand that by saying others don’t know how to fish a jig in grass either, so you decided to share your knowledge with the unwashed. You end by suggesting I don’t know how to fish a jig in grass when my point that started this whole thing was I prefer to fish a heavy weighted t-rig in heavy vegetation and even shared why that was my preference. You seem to have a real issue with my preference for some reason. I’m not going to go on about this any longer, so you can have the last word. We are both in Texas and not terribly far apart. I sure hope we will have an opportunity in the future to test the hype.
  3. I appreciate that…unfortunately I’m not on FB. I ended up buying some of the shallow cupped Worth blades on eBay to try out. I’m just making stuff for personal use, so the order quantities needed direct from Worth were well beyond my needs.
  4. I believe I only shared what I do. You shared what everyone else does wrong and preceded to make the post about you and correct everyone’s supposed mistake (which on so many levels is inaccurate but I chose not to get into it). You still have not answered the OP’s question. So when you say we each shared our experience, are you saying that your experience is that everyone else is wrong but you? So, who’s ego showed through.
  5. The improved clinch knot has never done well in tests with braid for that reason. If I were going to use that knot on braid (which I do occasionally), I run the line through the eye twice and add more twists. My typical knot is a Palomar knot but with braid, I use a double Palomar. In both cases, I want to add more friction spots due to the nature of braid.
  6. It’s not all wrong…it’s just your opinion of what to do. In heavy vegetation, I want to force it through the grass. My goal is to get it to the bottom 1/3 of the water column quickly where the vegetation is usually more open, jig it up and down a few times, and get it back up quickly for my next pitch. If I have to finesse it back and forth to get it to break free, that’s less casts and less time in the likely strike zone.
  7. I don’t know why we are having this conversation. He asked about benefits and situations where others use a t-rig over a jig and I shared what I do. You have now managed to make this about your expertise and how other fishermen don’t know how to fish jigs. I fish jigs ALL the time. However in heavy cover, I prefer a t-rig with a heavy pegged weight. The ego’s on this site can be quite entertaining ?.
  8. I don’t think anyone said they can’t…you made that leap. The question was benefits or situations you would chose one over the other. In heavier vegetation (my comment), I think a t-rig works better. Since we are using YouTube, check out how often pro’s use 3/4, 1, 1 1/2, and 2 oz weights in vegetation.
  9. We get these all the time and the bottom line is you do you. Personally, I’m going to say something most of the time when I see someone out of line. I’m not going to be rude but I don’t really care how they take it. Had a guy last week working on his engine on the ramp with 4 boats waiting to launch. I said something.
  10. Most of my reels are Steez SV’s and I have no issues casting for distance or throwing heavier lures. I don’t use a Steez on my big rods like my swimbait/glide bait rod and I use a wider spooled reel on my deep cranking rod. The 1/2 oz max is bad advice IMO. Some people tweak out their high end reels but I have never had the desire to with a Steez. It is a gem straight out of the box for almost anything you want to use it with.
  11. I still haven’t bought in to the “attractant” mindset but think there is probably something to it being a masking agent. You could get a MRSA from some of these nasty fishermen.
  12. In heavier vegetation or anytime I need to slip through tight cover like reeds, I go with a pegged T-rig creature bait…it passes through much easier. I also usually choose a T-rig if I want a less bulky look. Otherwise, I go with a jig.
  13. I wasn’t aware of the Clunn statement either…I will definitely read your attached article. I was actually referring to the OP’s statement regarding KVD saying low and slow wouldn’t get bit. I’m not aware of that opinion but am aware of his general feelings regarding how to fish spinnerbaits.
  14. Is it just a weight thing or is it causing a problem like tired wrists or elbow? What are you using that combo for? Are you using the same rod on the other reels? If no, maybe put the reel on another rod and see how it feels. Certain techniques with light rods can definitely wear you out over time. Most of my reels are Steez SV’s (5.5 oz) but I do have some that are heavier. The only time I really notice a difference is when I’m not fishing. If I were experiencing more fatigue using one combo, I would try to diagnose why.
  15. Hang tight and a young poster will stop by with their camera pixel machine thingy ?.
  16. The government is exempt from inflation.
  17. ?This? I’m not familiar with the quotes you are referencing but KVD has always suggested that as a general rule, spinnerbaits should be fished above the fish. Another general rule of thumb is spinnerbaits work better when there is some chop on the water, same with clear water. His (& many others) contention with chop, fishing above, and fast in clear water is that he doesn’t want the fish to get a good look at the spinnerbait…it’s not the most natural looking thing. I also think this applies more to high to mid column fishing…I don’t think he is a big slow roller. When I read tips from pro’s, I am more interested in the why than the what. You can’t write a book to cover every situation but if you have a better understanding of the thought process behind the suggestion, you can apply that accordingly. Just my opinion.
  18. I carry a lot of gear but if I had to narrow it down, the only must have’s for me would be something to cover the upper, middle, and lower water column. Beyond that, a lot would depend on the lake and water conditions. I would probably carry worms, jigs, cranks, swim jigs, and some type of topwater on every trip.
  19. The mods said they would help you pack. I’ll reach out to some local realtors.
  20. Makes sense…your highest groups were single hooks and lowest were treble hooks which is pretty normal. That is why people often use softer rods for trebles…they can come unbuttoned easier. Frogs are usually going to have a lower and more inconsistent hook up rate because of where and how they are typically fished.
  21. There is an easy option if you want to get back to pre inflation prices and double your disposable income.
  22. I have a Helix and they don’t require a ton of fine tuning. Most Humminbird factory settings default to what they consider a general purpose optimal level. You will find that many of the factory settings will remain at default most of the time. There are definitely things you can fine tune. Here are a few videos I had in my library. I haven’t looked at them in quite a while. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwqWKthWbbI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGcrFaQo9oU Also, I don’t know what you’re referring to when you say not working correctly but an out of box Helix installed properly should have a solid image. You may want to check your transducer.
  23. From a hook to land ratio, I’m probably in this range as well. Maybe slightly lower depending on how often I use lures that are easier for bass to throw. Add in things like oversized flutter spoons and larger swimbaits and my hook to land ratio drops pretty quickly. I’m a member of the “hook sets are free” club. If something doesn’t feel right, I’m probably going to swing, so I’m not concerned about having a high strike to catch ratio.
  24. You lost me at fluorocarbon. Would you mind removing the sentence and reposting. I am interested in hearing the outcome of your test.
  25. If I were trying to increase my odds, I would focus on structure with deep water access…deep being relative. IMO, big bass are much less willing to give up the security of depth v a smaller bass, so much so that you will often find them accessing feeding areas from lower spots for concealment. To equate to the post above about bucks, a big buck typically won’t walk the crest of a ridge line but will instead travel below the ridge. While different bass behave differently, if I were going to search for potential big bass locations, I would be looking for structures with good deep water connections and deep water access points. But that’s just me.
