  1. I had Cooper At3s on previous truck. It’s what I’ll replace my terrible stock Grabbers with when I get the chance. Loved them. They’re 10ply and a good balance between duty (daily driving, pulling trailers, hauling) and off road stuff. Not gonna get you through a week-long wilderness excursion but I loved them. Ride noise wasn’t bad either.
  2. Dude seriously. NattieUpNorth has good kayak videos, although she’s not the most informational. Tyler Reels Fishing does kayak vids and they’re ok. Doesn’t talk a ton about them, but he has one with his fiancée and a friend where she’s in a new one to try out and he asks her some questions. It’s mildly insightful I guess. There’s a couple that does them and I can’t remember or find it again. But she’s been pregnant fishing a kayak and talked a good bit about what makes it stable vs. fast. Those were cool to see. They usually include cooking and recipes of that helps. Sorry ?
  3. And it’s not the end of the world. To me, the bigger thing is that big a reel is gonna wear your wrist/arm out faster. But I have a few ugly stiks. Always love them.
  4. All of the above when I still did leaders. You can waste half the day retying so I changed rods the most. Retied several over lunch if need be.

    Prop baits

I’ve had success for years on Torpedos (cause my Grandad used them). I have a whopper plopper now and it’s awesome, but doesn’t have nearly the nostalgia. Although it does churn some water man.
  6. Publicity also leads to the heavy fishing pressure. Hubbard Creek was sort of a hidden gem until TPWD started doing articles on it. Then tournaments were there. Then it was overfished heavily. It wasn’t until after it nearly ran dry and then refilled over years that is really recovered. But now there’s bigger/better lakes for people. I like going to Hubbard now, even on busy days.
  7. Yes. Cause I’m not great, and it shows if I’m not on a reel that’s really set up well for it. Although I pitch and flip spinning all the time with little effort. Bait caster is what I have to really set up correctly.
  8. I have the Lews speed stick light spinning combo 6’ and it’s great. No problems. It’s my panfish rod.
  9. Yeah Ivie is “protected” as a water source for several towns as well, including mine. So the fish benefit greatly from a fee to use and the lake being a darling of the water board. Is stated before, it’s also not right next to anything but small rural towns. And most of them could care less.
  10. Lol. You are a true friend!
  11. Tandem or even single Colorado. Depends on vegetation. I think Colorado is easier to move slower. And I’m in dirty water all the time.
  12. Spent time in south GA, Valdosta. It’s so stupidly humid hot.
  13. I do chunks and 3-4” grubs with curly tails. Just to cover bases. I usually throw the grubs into cover and drag it through, and chunks right next to it or drag along the edge.
  14. Ummmm...that’s not what I said at all lol. And this is the OP point I think. He is bothered by how available the things he doesn’t want his kids seeing, or hearing :), is on YouTube.
  15. I’m bank-bound so I usually take 3 rods. Always a jig, usually a t rig plastic, and then some kind of spinner bait/buzz bait/ swim bait setup. When I can stay near the truck I’ll add my crank bait setup. Or I’ll take it instead of the spinner setup depending on where I’m headed. But I like to travel light balanced with travel setup to fish situations.
  16. I have 12lb Berkeley floro on a bait cast with 7’ M fast rod and I really like it. Took a lot of getting used to. It’s T rig setup. I also had a lot of bird nest trouble at first, but I feel it was more casting on the medium rod. I prefer 6’6” Mh braid for anything else baitcast. And casting into the slightest breeze is...difficult for me with the floro.
  17. Nothing wrong if it doesn’t bother you. It bother the OP, so he doesn’t want his kids seeing it. Nothing wrong there either. We’ve all forgotten how to agree to disagree. Or just decided we don’t want to anymore. That’s another thing I like about Roland Martin and Glenn’s videos. They insert their opinion on other things very little. It’s 99.9% fishing. And if you trace videos back a ways you’ll see where they even change their minds on some things...and it’s ok.
  18. It’s difficult to compare a generation that centered around the idea of family and responsibility with a generation that shoots up schools. It’s apples and oranges. I believe as parents we carry some responsibility for our child’s actions, but your parents could never even imagine a kid walking into school and shooting you. If they had, schools back then would have looked like schools now. Parents are right to be concerned now more than ever. There are just so many ways your kid gets bombarded with this stuff. Agree. And if the smoking/drinking bothers you fine. Don’t watch it. If it doesn’t, fine. Watch it. Everybody raise your kids the way you think is best. But coming from a teacher: just raise them.
  19. Last week it was 10 with wind chill of -10 all week. Frozen solid. Today it’s 80. While driving between schools for work today I pass Ed the lake near my house and saw all these people out fishing. Saw a guy pulling a decent fish out right as I looked longingly at the water. Sigh
  20. The point of the lipless is to bang it on the rocks to attract the fish. If you keep it moving at an angle the nose of the bait leads and you actually bounce off pretty well. But if I get hooked and start working it loose I generally end up with a fish of some kind. At least that’s how I use it You can also change out the trebles for double hooks and they won’t catch on rocks.
  21. Lipless crank from the bank is how I’ve caught most of my bass this winter. Usually right after I get hung up on a rock and work it loose. But I buy the little $2 ones from Walmart so I’ll be fearless with it.
  22. Agree. I gravitate to greens cause it’s my favorite color. Just happens I’m surrounded by stained, murky water. I have greens or blue/blacks for night. That’s it.
  23. Big bite baits grubs as jig trailer. Works every time. And yum stick worms wacky. I got them cause they were cheaper but I love them.
  24. Texas rig. Just search my very first question. I’m gonna get it if it eventually.
  25. Thank you. I should have said I’ve never been on a guided fishing trip before. I have absolutely no idea what to expect, do, etc. I just thought it would be something cool and fun for the three of us since Covid has cancelled/changed so many things.
