  1. That sounds very helpful. Yes it does have Pike and a small number of walleye.
  2. *UPDATE* Caught them real good after taking all the advice on this forum. Caught a ton punching, on a frog, and on a swimming worm. I now am having more trouble. Like I previously said, there are no drastic drop offs, ledges, shelfs, or humps in this lake. It is basically a bowl and now all of the vegetation (curly leaf pondweed) has died out. The only remains weeds are some semi-dead coontail. I’m not exactly sure where to locate the bass out here. The lake gets 18ft deep and is about 150 acres. Where should I go next??? Let me know if there is any clarification about the features of the lake. Water temp: 80 Clarity: 5/10 (slight green stain)
  3. Personally, I prefer going with a mono leader. I would usually go heavy braid to 15 or 17lb mono. That way you get some stretch to help hold those trebles in place and not tear them out. Flouro just doesn’t have the stretch that I want.
  4. I am heading up north to Big Sandy lake this weekend and I tried doing some research on bass fishing there. Not much on it from what I have found. Anyone bass fished this lake and if so, could you throw out some info?
  5. Odd question here, I recently purchased a used Shimano Sahara off of Ebay and it arrived in almost perfect condition as I thought. However, I when I went to test the drag, I realized there was no sound. This was weird and as I looked in the spool, I noticed that there was no drag clicker! Anyone know how I could buy a replacement drag clicker to put in my reel? Thanks
  6. There aren’t any docks and not much for laydowns or wood. I think that from what I have read and what you just said, looking for different vegetation and punching through the mats towards the edge would be my best bet.
  7. When the weeds are mostly grown to the top, the water clarity is very good and almost 10ft vis. I fish from a 17 1/2 ft Lund. The vegetation is mainly milfoil and some coontail. The weeds grow from the bottom up but will form a mat when they are fully grown and very thick. There are some spots where there is about an inch of water in between. The water does get dirtier as the weeds start to die. It is tougher for me to find hard bottom being that I do not have a very good graph. Thanks for your interest in helping me
  8. The reason I said holes was because it’s not much of a mat, it’s more of just tall weed stalks that reach the surface. But I will keep what you said in mind.
  9. There is not much of a hard bottom that I know of but I’ll try next season. I have done very little of punching in the past but maybe if I slow down and find and the little holes in the weeds, there might be some fish hanging out in those areas.
  10. I frequently fish a small lake in southern minnesota that has some good largemouth in it. I usually have no problem catching them in the spawn and the end of prespawn. However when the heat kicks in, it becomes difficult to catch them consistently. This lake is basically a bowl that has very fast weed growth and by early june, weeds are grown to the surface. There is not much of a weed line because they just taper as depth increases. Most of my success on the hot days come from throwing frogs in the early morning. When it gets later in the day, I have tried to go out deeper and throw carolina rigs and 5 xds where the biggest depth changes are, but no luck. Deepest part of the lake is 18ft. There are no points and the lake is pretty much round. Any tips on fishing this lake? Let me know about any needed clarifications. Thanks
  11. I wonder if glide baits could work up in Minnesota. Something like an s-waver? I’m not sure just throwing it out there.
  12. That area where it goes from 12ft-15ft-18ft is where I would start. Fish usually like these kind of depth changes. It is also off of a point and that is also a good sign. If you don’t have any luck there, I would go to the deeper spot where it looks like it is a basin of 18ft. Crappies (and bluegill) like to roam the basin. If you can find some weeds on the bottom they usually will hold fish. Goodluck guys!
  13. @MIbassyakerand @FishTankthanks guys very helpful??
