  1. Been absent from this forum for a while but figured I’d pop back on to share some news. Been fishing decently over the past year or so but stuck my new pb today at a random pond in Plymouth. 6.67 #. Wacky rigged green pumpkin senko in deep ish water. Crushed my old pb of 3.7. Hoping for state pin even tho I don’t have exact length. Would like to everyone for the tips and updates over the years that have gotten me to this moment!
  2. Never had any luck on chatters. Spinners always work better for me.
  3. All I have now is a rod holder in the front so I can leave it there when I paddle. Only other issues are lack of other rod holders and no good spot to put tackle boxes - was thinking of putting a crate somewhere but don't know where
  4. My family currently has an Old Town Dirigo that I occasionally use for fishing, but I have an old 14 foot canoe that I use most of the time. The Dirigo is most definitely more of a recreational kayak, and I have tried by best to fit it with rod holders and a storage crate, but it doesn’t help much. I love the canoe once I'm out there, but I don’t love the transport and needing another person aspect of it. Thus, I’m wondering if I should look into a used sit on top kayak or if there are any modification to the Dirigo I could make to make it more of a fishing kayak. Thanks.
  5. Anyone ever fished White Island Pond on the Plymouth/Wareham line? Doesn’t seem to be any access and looks to be a good spot that holds some big fish
  6. Got a couple of free weekends in October. Haven’t caught a LMB since May so looking forward to getting back on em! October usually isn’t too slow, right?
  7. I wish man. No longer a 2 min drive from the ocean, now 45 Gonna try and get out this weekend though
  8. Been getting the summer doldrums for bass so decided to try for carp in the Charles. No luck the past couple of days so just wanted to see if anyone had any tips - just using corn on a small hook with a 3 ounce weight. Spots, rigs, baits, whatever it is, just looking for some help. Thanks
  9. Congrats! That is a nice fish especially for around here
  10. For me the saltwater fishing has been so good this year I haven’t had much motivation to go freshwater. Sure on a windy day in early July I had a great day for smallmouth but combined with the good marine weather this year it has meant a year of the stripey fish instead of the green ones for me. I did set a new PB of 3-10 in May though
  11. Had a tough outing yesterday at my local go to spot. All of the typical areas just did not produce. Landed a bluegill a dink largie and a decent pick. Just slow.
  12. Had another great day in the Metro Boston area. Had 10 fish in a couple hours with my buddy in my canoe - all on poppers or senkos, big fish was 2.5 lbs. For me at least the fishing has been lights-out lately.
  13. Both. My philosophy on texas vs wacky is simple: fish wacky until you get too hung up in weeds, then switch to texas. I also have done very well flipping the middle of pads with texas while wacky seems better in more open water
  14. Had a great weekend on the cape. Fished Saturday and Monday evening and absolutely slayed on senkos. Caught probably 15 fish total with biggest going 2-10. All shallow on weed beds. Looking forward to getting back there soon.
  15. Fish are on the beds at my local pond. May 16th - same exact day as last year
  16. Took my first trip down to the cape this year and struck out with stripers in Buzzards Bay - just no activity to speak of. Then switched over to John’s Pond and got a decent smallie on a senko flipping rocks up shallow. Windy as hell today. Saw a massive school of herring too. Looking forward to getting back at it next weekend
  17. Saw the same thing! Put in a couple hours shore fishing at a local reservoir and landed my first bass of the year on a wacky rigged senko in deep water. Put up a great fight.
  18. Weird weather coming up. Decided to delay my cape trip until next weekend - looks a little cold and windy. Gonna warm up big time next week
  19. Thinking of doing a cape trip this upcoming weekend. I already have a spot for some kayak fishing but temps look a little low. Anyone got any recommendations/ideas for fishing the cape first week of May?
  20. Same exact thinking I had. Especially because I don’t have a fishfinder and didn’t even know if I was in the right spots
  21. Had a weird, weird day today. First trip with the canoe this year started off strong (I thought). 70 degree weather and sunny, until I got to my spot for the day and the wind was whipping and the sun had faded away. Started by blindly fishing deep water (been meaning to look into a fishfinder… any thoughts?) until I ran across another angler on a kayak. He told me he was flipping shallow cover with a wacky rig and I then followed suit - landing 5 fish between me and my buddy in the front end of the boat. Trolling motor really came in handy today - everyone else I talked to came up empty-handed as they got blown around
  22. Took another skunk today. Had some bites but couldn’t connect - going to take out the canoe tomorrow I think. I’ve heard some good things abt that place. Been meaning to check it out.
  23. Some of my friends did really well yesterday - I couldn’t make it out . They killed them on jigs - getting around 20 fish with a 4 pound lunker all from shore. Gonna try that spot today.
  24. Tough day out there for me. Put in a good 4 hours at my go-to local spot and came up with a skunk. Threw basically my entire tackle box at them, using senkos, jerkbait, crankbaits, jigs, swimbaits, wakebaits, and chatterbait. Still a little early in the season I guess.
  25. Got out for a half hour last night after school. Threw around a Strike King wakebait and slow rolled a spinnerbait - no takers. Got super windy and rainy so I eventually called it but it felt good to just get back in the rhythm again. Might go out again this afternoon for a bit - anyone know what the water temps are looking like?
