  1. I've got a bunch of Dobyn's Fury rods and have never had an issue with them. I'm not the nicest to them and they have been great. They also have a pretty good warranty. If you can get them under $100, then it is a steal.
  2. I've received a handwritten note for every order! It is the small things that make a nice touch. Their premium deal is legit and they are constantly updating/expanding their products.
  3. Omnia fishing is another good online tackle store. Smaller than TW, but lots of good products and good customer service. I think they are out of somewhere between Michigan/Minnesota area so shipping might be a little quicker depending on where you are at. TW gets me my packages next day here in California. When I was in Florida, it took at least a week.
  4. right side for me. landing net on the left.
  5. I've got the flambeau tuff krate and it is nice. I bought it on Amazon for around $80 a few months ago. I like that it has a lid on it so my lures don't get blasted in the sun all day. Plus, it has 4 rod holders.
  6. I've got Abu Garcia, Dobyn's, Shimano, and Lew's. I use the Dobyn's rods every trip, but also use the Shimano and Abu Garcia ones most of the time. I got a Lew's combo a few years ago on sale and while I do use it, I don't like it. At the end of the day, they all work so I don't care too much.
  7. largemouth are everywhere that is wet in Florida. There isn't much freshwater to fish in St. Pete or Tampa itself besides a few ponds here and there but try out the bigger city/county parks first. Edward Medard reservoir is East of Tampa and isn't huge, but bigger than most places around. Teneroc mine lakes are really good, but also about 45 mins East of Tampa off of I-4. Lake Tarpon will most likely be the closest lake to you and can be good at times. I believe they have a Tuesday night tournament deal still going on for most of the year there. Good luck. Don't forget to throw purple and junebug color plastics. You'll thank me later.
  8. Purple Passion Motley Fishing Tungsten flipping jig 3/8 oz. I don't really remember, but I think it had a D-bomb or Baby Paca Craw for a trailer.
  9. Happy New Year Everybody!
  10. I've got the Garmin Echomap UHD 73SV on my kayak and love it.
  11. Looks like they have until Jan 1, 2023 to make it a reality. Copied/Pasted straight from the signed bill below. "This bill would authorize the department, on or before January 1, 2023, to provide an option to display a sport fishing license, validation, report card, or other sport fishing entitlement issued pursuant to the Fish and Game Code or regulations adopted pursuant to this code electronically on a mobile device, except as provided." (Bill Text - AB-817 Sport fishing licenses: electronic display: 12-consecutive-month licenses. (ca.gov)).
  12. I would also have a topwater rod, or at least a frog for a good majority of the year, me being in California.
  13. I don't get the shade being thrown on the fury line, they are great rods and aren't too expensive.
  14. don't know if i'll be going yet, but that sounds like an awesome idea!
  15. My old town predator pdl lives in the garage while not on the water. lol. I've only visited clearlake once, and that was just bank fishing, so I need to get back out there with the yak and do some real fishing.
  16. Hooksets are free!
  17. I think 7 gear ratio is fine, it gives you some "speed" but you don't lose power. Personally, I've even used 6:4:1 reels for frogging and had no problems....
  18. I fish all year long anyway. I moved from FL to CA so I've been adjusting to the differences, which really aren't that much. Other than that, I got serious and upgraded my kayak and bought my first fishfinder to learn on. I'm at the stage now that I don't worry about getting skunked, but if it happens, I just consider it practice...
  19. Looking for some redemption this year! already? we're still 2 months out. Somebody is super excited.
  20. I'm a small guy, but have average size hands IMO (jbsoonerfan- LOL), but both shimano and lew's work great for me. It all comes down to what you are more comfortable with. Both are good quality and come in similar price ranges. Do whatever makes your tiny hands happy!
  21. I strongly second A-Jay's suggestion about the military. It has been extremely great for me for the past 14 years and while it has ups and downs like any job or career, it gives you a chance to grow as a person and discover who you want to be when you eventually grow up.
  22. maybe it is. hard to tell with just one image.
