I have a brand new Endura C2 50, Minn Kota Battery Box, Interstate Batteries Deep Cycle 24DC 685 Marine Cranking Amp Battery and a Bass Raider 10e.
After charging the battery over night, pressing the level button on the battery box showed full charge just before taking the boat out. With two people weighing a total of about 330#, going into a 5-10 mph wind on still lake water for about 20 minutes at full power, then maneuvering around for about 20 min on power level 1-3, the battery box showed red. We were still able to get back to the boat ramp on max power with no wind, but we assisted the motor by paddling. Upon return home, the battery box indicator was yellow - the second lowest while a volt meter reading was 11.9v.
I'm trying to reconcile the low reading on the battery box, but 11.9v on the volt meter and I'm concerned that the power drained so quickly. It seems that we should have been able to run at full power, drawing 50 amps, for 1.6 hours with a 12v DC marine battery rated at 81 amp hours.
What are your thoughts? Should I return the battery or the battery box? What is your experience with running a Minn Kota C2 50 (or 55 that draws the same amps)?
