  1. T-Billy's words were prophetic; I ended up buying a 2pd Tackle Industries 9' Musky rod! My options were: $25 Berkley Big Game - floppy and cheap $20-40ish? - Have someone add a ferrule to my Sojurn $100 BPS Predator - only rated up to 4oz (my baits are 5-8) $175 TI 9' Musky $400 Shimano Sixx - expensive TI was really cool when I emailed them, so I went with their XH 2-8oz rod. Super stoked! Bait monkey strikes again.
  2. LOL!!! The bait monkey has made me a believer in the supernatural. I've dropped like $1,000 the last few months in fishing gear, and I have 2 kids and make $12/hr ?. No debt and everyone is fed though.
  3. Yeah my MIL despises me and has lost other things we've shipped to her house or left behind. I'd love to get another rod, but my wife is losing her patience with my addiction LOL. I may just have to see if anyone local will make it a 2pc or do some horse trading for a 2pc. I appreciate all the advice! I probably won't attempt it myself; I even had a dream last night where I attempted to make a ferrule 2pc and it failed miserably ?
  4. The big problem is my fishing spot is where my in-laws live, so my wife always wants to come with the kids to see her parents (which gives me fishing time) and she will not tolerate 1pc rods in the car.... ?. So it's either 2pc or I can't bring it ?
  5. I have an XXH Shimano Sojourn Musky 8'6 that doesn't fit in my tiny sedan. I want to cut it in the middle and epoxy in a piece of graphite or carbon stock to make it a 2pc. Is this feasible? Is there a better way? I'm open to suggestions. Thanks.
  6. Those are the two I actually have in my Amazon cart. Glad you hear they're recommended. Thanks!
  7. Thanks! I do worry because I plan on trolling for a few hours at a time. I only have 2 speeds, so I do tend to keep it cranked on high for quite a long time (low speed is way too slow). I only paid $80 used for my unit, so I guess it's not the end of the world if I do happen to fry it! Now to find a 30-50ah LiFePO4 that doesn't cost so much that my wife will stab me...
  8. Hey all. I have a Watersnake ASP T24 trolling motor (24lbs thrust) that I use a SLA 12v 35ah battery on. It doesn't last long, and I'd like to use a LiFePO4 battery to get more range. However, I emailed the manufacturer, and they said, "We do not recommend the use of lithium batteries. Lithium batteries can output and maintain higher voltages which can cause damage to the motor." I see tons of videos of guys using LiFePO4 batteries on this motor without any problem. Are they just taking a chance? Is there some voltage regulator I need to buy? The lithium batteries state 12.8v as the "nominal voltage," but 14.4v as the "charge voltage." The former would be fine, but the latter seems too high. I've also heard lithium batteries drop voltage when they're not charging. Could I just wait for the lithium battery to drop to 13v before I use it? I'm very confused by all of this. Please help.
  9. I think I'm going to go with the front, I attach my dive reel and anchor stuff to a deck eye behind the seat and I don't want the trolling at the interfere with that
  10. Hey all. I have a 8.5' SOT Lifetime Hydros 85 Angler which has two flush mounts behind the seat and one deck mount between my legs (only adjust up and down). I want to do some trolling with maybe a spinner or crawler rig when kayaking to different spots. I've always assumed that the flush mounts were more for rod storage, so I bought a Scotty track mount holder to put either in front of or behind my seat (see pic). However, now I'm reading that a lot of people DO troll from their flush mounts (I thought the rod tip would be too high). So I have two questions for you all: 1) Should I just use the flush mount holders to troll? 2) If no, where should I mount the deck mount holder so that I don't hit it with the paddle? In front of the seat or behind (see pic)? There is barely any kayak for the mount to grab onto in front of the seat though, so part of the track would be in the air (it's all cut out there for footrests). Thanks!
  11. Did you know that one signature on the petition = one Karen getting bent out of shape? Just say "no" to Karens, and sign the petition: http://chng.it/dZ5bzCck
  12. It's a natural brook that was dammed 200 years ago to run mills. There have been several water quality studies and it is acceptable, not great but not bad. Definitely not primo habitat, but would be really fun to have so close to home.
  13. This is true. I've really ticked off a lot of the "well-to-do" and bureaucrats around here. Some in government who mildly supported me before have now distanced themselves or turned on me. It's been in the newspaper like 3 times, and now all the government people are circling the wagons.
  14. People here can help by signing the petition, but they don't have to. If anybody doesn't want to sign then don't sign. And also, I have been working with local leaders and the city and all the entities involved for over a year, gathering signatures for a petition is part of this process.
  15. No. Decriminalize meaning legally allow it. Right now it is technically banned but not enforced. There is no HOA. The lake is owned and managed by two cities.
