  1. I use these mainly in watermelon, blue, and red shad... I've never caught any under 1.5 but that's still a pretty small bass and there's plenty of them. It will catch smaller and bigger bass but no true dinks. I average 2.5 with this on a normal day. Sometimes upwards of 4-6 depending.
  2. Yes I keep a few black and red football jigs in my jig box. I caught a few on it just the other day. Had it paired with a menace grub in summer craw.
  3. Thanks. I remember seeing that on the box but I could not find a wafer shed anywhere on the internet . You catch fish on them? I
  4. I've always loved cotton cordell bass baits and had great success on them. I was in Walmart the other day and picked up a couple of a lure that I've never seen before. I can't find it anywhere on the internet either. I like the thin flatsided profile. Can anyone tell me if they've used or catch fish on the lure in the photo. Thanks, Landon
  5. What are you guys' top 5 confidence baits that you know you can almost always catch a fish on. You need to be able to do it in the wind and in the sun and during any time of the year. My 5: Small colorado spinnerbaits (3/8 oz and less)(yellow and black or chartreuse and blue) Bomber square A (apple red crawdad or baby bass for very pressured, clear water areas) Yamamoto senko (fading watermelon or gp purple copper flake) Berkley power grub (black for pressured areas and firetiger for when fish are active and not finicky) Strike king bitsy bug jig (1/4 oz)(watermelon or cajun craw)
  6. Bomber square A: it catches fish, the truest running squarebill i've ever used, not obnoxiously loud, and has decent hooks out of the package. Primolary 3 colors: baby bass, apple red crawdad, and firetiger.
  7. I use these 3 freely, I will use any of them on any type of jig: Zoom horny toad Berkley power grub Yum money craw
  8. welcome to them?? wym? i can have them?
  9. The grub: not used by very many anglers any more, but heavily used and depended on by those who do use them. It use to be a very popular and reliable lure so why do some many people forget about them now? Just because it looks simple and boring compared to all the new, modern fishing technology lures does not mean that it cannot still catch fish. Fish have not changed just the industry. Old lures that caught bass 100 years ago still work, and good too! I'm not saying that the new lures can't catch fish, just saying that the older ones can too. Sometimes less is more, and in the grub's case, that is very true. I absolutely love the grub and have used it almost every time I have gone bass fishing for my whole entire bass fishing life (7 y/o to now 15). So what are you guys' favorite grubs? And by asking that I don't mean the new strike king menace and z-man goat style grubs, I mean the simple curly tail ones. I have tremendous success with grubs and actually, even though they are small, usually tend to catch bigger bass on them. I use them with lots of success for bed fishing. I have caught around 100 bass over 4 pounds on them and about 5 bass over 7 pounds just within the past 1 year! I believe that this is a classic bait that we should and hopefully start seeing more people come back to. It is the most versatile soft plastic and still just flat out catches bass! So let me know your favorite or few favorite grubs! Thanks! Mine are: Zoom fat albert- chartreuse and green pumpkin colors Berkley power grub- black and firetiger colors Johnson swimming grub- bullfrog and merthiolate/chartreuese tail colors
  10. I don't have a single favorite, but I do have favorites for different situations: Bed fishing (i mainly bed fish just using craws)- yum money craw and berkley craw fatty Straight swimming it over grass and vegetation- zoom ultravibe speed craw Fishing around cover or just fishing shallow water (not bed fishing) for aggressive summer bass- gene larew salt craw Fav colors: yum-crawdad and green pumpkin berkley- smoky green pumpkin and purple pumpkin red zoom- green pumpkin or electric blue gene larew- black + green claws and dark green + red/blue claws
  11. 3-4" Curl tail grubs on a 1/8 oz jighead Bomber square A 3/8 oz My own custom spinnerbaits (but spinners in general, H&H or Booyah is a good option) Strike king bitsy bug jig Paddle tail swimbaits Lipless crankbaits (rapala rattlin rapala or cotton cordell super spot) Senkos (cuz duhhhhhh) Ultravibe speed craw and yum money craw Hula poppers Smithwick devil's horse
  12. haha that's funny my best friend is now deemed as "possum" when he comes to my house to hang out, bc one time we were checking my traps and a possum came out bit his finger. i'm sure it hurt but it was hilarious, so he is now "possum" according to my dad lol.
  13. Thanks, Catt, for your response. I really love the zoom speed craws (ultra vibe or magnum ultra vibe) I used them last summer and slayed the bass on them just swimming them over grass mats or through reeds. Definitely one of my new favorite baits. And I caught some big bed bass on them too slow rolling them past the bed. Quick question: your profile description on the left side says that your PB is 12-13 pounds. That's big! Mine is only 10 and change. What did you catch that beast on and what were the conditions/water depth like? I'd like to know, thanks
  14. Thank you for your response, I like all of those options.
  15. If you guys - or gals - could only pick 4 lures for each season what would they be. I would like to see some of yalls' responses just to get an idea on what everybody is throwing. If you don't mind, list 2 soft baits and 2 lures for each of the 4 seasons below. Thank you, have a good day, and tight lines. My picks: Winter- Finesse jigs, Big medium-deep diving cranks, Senkos on light t-rigs, and Grubs on jigheads Spring- Spinnerbaits, Lipless crankbaits, Craws on weighted t-rigs, and Grubs on jigheads Summer- Square bills, Spinnerbaits, Paddle tail swimbaits on jigheads, and senkos on short drop shots Fall- Spinnerbaits, Square bills, Flukes on weightless t-rig, and Finesse worms on a light t-rig
  16. I'm 15 and been fishing my whole life with good success but 2020 was by far my best year! It was like a light turned on and I just started catching big bass left and right. I caught 300 bass over 3 pounds, 100 over 5 pounds, and 5 over 7 pounds. I was stoked! I caught them on all sorts of stuff like: paddle tail swimbaits, crankbaits, spinnerbaits, grubs, and craws. (My 2 biggest were a 9 on a drop shot senko and a 10 on a lake fork fluke). My favorite lure that caught me the most big bass was the simple curly tail grub.
  17. Thank you for responding so quickly. Yes, those are great baits. It is hard to beat any of those, I caught my second to biggest bass (9 pounder) on a drop shot senko (grn. pump. purple copper fleck) on a bed. She couldn't resist it. Hello Potato lake, thanks for your response. I do love a zoom lizard. It actually is my favorite lure period for male bass, idk what the deal is but lizards just drive the nuts out of male bass. Every time i spot a bed underwater and i throw a lizard in there, the male immediately slurps that thing up. Which is actually good, sometimes you want to try and catch the male on purpose, just to get him out of the way so that you can then focus on the big'un female. I will always keep some lizards in my arsenal and hope you do too. Funny story, one time I actually caught a ginormous water mocassin (cottonmouth) on a lizard. And I was freaked out so I reeled him onto the bank and ran over him over and over on my fourwheeler haha. Tight lines.
  18. What are you guys' favorite soft plastics for bed fishing. I usually tend to use baits with a lot of action and just plain reel them by on a slow roll, or I just cast a few feet past the bad and keep twitching until the bait is on the bed and then I let sit and then I pick up the rod to raise the lure and I twitch it while it is on it's way down. When that happens, the big female grabs it and just starts swimming away, and then BAM set the hook. My 4 favorite bed soft plastics are: Paddle tail swimbaits, Senkos, Grubs, and Craws. My favorite of each are: Berkley grass pig, GY senko, Berkley power grub, and Yum money craw or Zoom ultravibe craw. Please let me know below what your top 3-5 bed soft plastics are. Thanks, and tight lines with 8 pounders on the end.
  19. Hello "Dink," I am 15 years old (probably not much older than you) and have been bass fishing since 8. Now looking back I feel like I pretty much wasted my time in my first few years bass fishing, because I just went with random lures that I thought looked cool. But, then from 10-12 I started to acquire more knowledge and get a lot better. The more you practice the better you will get. Then in the last few years 13-15 I have acquired so much bass fishing knowledge from videos, experience, and older men and now I know so much about bass fishing and how it all works. The more you fish the more you will figure what colors work in certain situations, what lures work at different times of the year, and how fast or slow to work the lure, and how deep or shallow the bass are located depending on the year time. My 2 best tips to you are to get experience, experience, experience, and to ask questions from older people who have been doing this for a long time. This website, and any old joe u meet on the bank are probably good places to start. As far as lure, I have used well over 50 lure models in the past 7 years and have narrowed it down to what I really ever throw. Those are my confidence lures. I really only use 5-10 different lures per year and I fish like half of the whole entire year. Last year, I caught 300 bass over 3 pounds and caught about 10 that ranged 7-10 in my life. This isn't bragging, this is showing you that the longer you wish, the more confident you will become in certain lures, therefore you will probably start catching bigger fish. So, figure out what your confidence lures are, the more lures you use, the more you will learn to see which ones you like best. Here are 10 cheap reccomendations: Spinners- H&H spinnerbait (colorado blade) + Booyah pond magic spinnerbait colors: yellows, blues, whites, blacks Cranks- Bomber square As + Strike king series 3, 4, or 5 colors: red or brown craw patterns, bluegill patterns, and bright like firetiger or chartreuse Jigs- Strike king bitsy bug jigs + Bass patrol silicone jigs colors: black and blue, watermelon, orange-brown craw patterns Grubs (yes I said grubs, I use grubs to catch big bass all the time, they are my favorite bed bait, I caught 3 bed bass over 7 pounds last year on grubs) - berkley powerbait grub (3-5 inches) + zoom fat albert grub colors: chartreuse, firetiger, blacks, green pumpkin Craws (my best big bass lures)- yum money craw + zoom ultravibe speed craw colors: green pumpkin, crawdad, sapphire blue, and black red flake
