Depends on how rough you are with your gear.   3 years now and I’m always using my zillion and it has no scratches.   I’m not gentle with my gear but I don’t toss it around either.   I do fish from the shore most of the time as well.  End of the day the fish don’t care what colour your reel is or the marks the reel has.  And for yourself you should just care on how the reel performs and not worry about scratches.  If you’re buying for the long run then just enjoy the reel for what it is, a tool.  Battle scars or not it’ll still be a beauty to admire.

I’m not sure on saltwater, I don’t live near so I don’t really pay attention.

I’d go JDM because it’s cheaper.   I have 5 and 3 are usdm and 2 are jdm.   I don’t find a difference in durability  in either brass or aluminum.   The aluminum is excellent and I wouldn’t be afraid of it.  In the end you’re getting a really great do all work horse or a reel.

Diablo spec R is a good first choice in the Levante line up.    It’s a good chatterbait rod.    I have 5 Levantes.   They’re nice rods.  I enjoy them more than I thought.   My favourite in the line up is the perfect pitch.

from Megabass website.  “EXCELS IN SINGLE-HOOK APPLICATIONS LIKE SPINNERBAITS, BUZZBAITS, SWIM JIGS AND BLADED JIGS. DIABLO SPEC-R’S EXCELLENT VERSATILITY BENEFITS THOSE ANGLERS LOOKING FOR ONE ROD TO COVER MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS INCLUDING BOTTOM CONTACT, NO SINKER SOFT PLASTICS, TOPWATER AND SMALL SWIMBAITS. IF YOU’RE LOOKING TO PURCHASE YOUR FIRST MEGABASS ROD, THE DIABLO SPEC-R IS OFTEN THE MODEL WE SUGGEST. THE SECOND GENERATION IS LIGHTER, STRONGER AND MORE SENSITIVE, TUNED FOR VERSATILITY TO REFINE ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR SPOTS WITHIN THE LEVANTE SERIES.”

I had the gen 4 Revo premier and I didn’t enjoy it.  It was super light weight.  Smooth on the retrieve and strong drag.   When you can get it casted.   It was the most finickiest reel I’ve ever had especially for the price point.   I’d get 2-3 great casts and spend 10 more casts getting it dialed in.    Not a set and forget reel for sure.   Even when using the same lure each cast.  I tried it with 30-50lbs braid and 12lbs yozuri hybrid.    Worked best with yozuri hybrid.   When I could get a good cast it would bomb the lures out.   The STX is the step below.   Same braking system but for some reason stays dialed in a lot better.  Only Revo I have left is the MGX2.

also I enjoyed my gen 4 Revo S a lot more than the Revo premier of that helps.
Black and gold would be the gen 4.

Why not take both out and fish them the same.  Keep which feels best to you?
