  1. I use Chatterbaits a lot. As far as conditions, windy conditions are the number 1 determining factor for me. I actually fish them pretty fast. They work great for me over the top of weed beds and in shallow water as long as you keep the blade moving. The majority of my strikes come fairly soon after hitting the water. As far as trailer, I use a variety of sizes ...The 10000 Saw Craw is my most productive. The Creme Speed Screamer is probably my second.
  2. I've been having this happen for a week now. Go figure. Just when you think you've figured it out...?
  3. Last week I caught a good number of fish on top water(mostly on the smaller side) I lost 2 large fish right at the boat. The funny thing is that I had the most luck in late morning (11ish) the ponds have been good about an HR before dark. Had good luck with a Lucky Craft Gunfish.
  4. Back at the water today after a lack luster week of fishing. Not a lot of fish over dink status... Today was an excellent day of catching, didn't get out until after 9am. First cast caught a nice fish on a jig tipped with Zoom Chunk Jr. The wind picked up and after that it was all Chatterbait action, I stopped counting at 10. Couple of decent ones all from the same spot. They were stacked up in a weed bed off a point. Used a 10000 saw craw for a trailer. Couple of pics below.
  5. Welcome from Wilmington NC.
  6. I just ordered some stuff from them not to long ago... Speed Screamers ...they are a great trailer for chatterbaits! These are great!
  7. It happens a lot. I've pulled in a fish only to have the hook drop out as soon as I lipped it and the line goes slack.
  8. Couple more on Chatterbaits and jigs. I think I landed 7 on a Chatterbait. They were really hitting them in the steadily windy conditions. For about 10 minutes, the wind stopped and my jig was getting hit every cast as soon as it hit the water. Mostly small, but lost a real nice fish right at the bank.
  9. Congratulations! That's 2 for 2 isn't it? (This year)
  10. Yum "Sugar Plum"
  11. ☝️This, I love mine.
  12. Wacky rigged Yum Dinger (anything purple or red) Chatterbait(with a little wind blowing) Carolina Rig with a Roboworm.
  13. Another good day! Started out a little cool, but warmed up. A few good ones most on Chatterbait in real shallow water.
  14. After some fustrating days of losing big fish, I finally landed a decent one. Just over 7lbs. It hit a Sugar Plum Yum Dinger rigged wacky. Also caught a couple of other nice fish.
  15. How old is the line? Had this happen last year, lost 3 lures. 15 lb braid P-line about 4months old. I respooled it and the problem went away. So I guess it was a line issue. If it's newer line, I would suspect a top guide issue of some sort.
  16. Man, don't give up! Everyone starts with no experience! Work on getting confident with operating your boat before worrying about fish in the boat. Weeds are your friend as a bass fisherman... Embrace the weeds! You'll be fine!
  17. Here in N.C. seems like we are into post spawn in my area(Wilmington). I'm not seeing any fish on beds anymore, caught a couple of nice long fish today that seemed like spawned out females. The medium sized males are tearing up anything in sight. Also, almost all the bigger fish I'm getting, have been on the bottom of deeper water.
  18. Today was a good day of fishing. Started out with the "Choppo" test first thing, I posted that under the appropriate thread. Then I moved to the Carolina rig and never looked back. The red Roboworm with chartuese tail was the bait of the day two nice fish in just 15 mins.
  19. So on the Choppo's caught 1 fish on the first cast and another a few casts more. Don't know how they will hold up to regular use... I'll let ya know.
  20. I just picked up a couple of Berkley 90 Choppo's, a couple bucks cheaper... I'll follow up with results after I try them.
  21. Chatterbait in shallow areas. Wacky rig with a little weight in deeper water( like a neko)...no weight in shallow.
  22. That was me, almost verbatim. I just removed the last reel with braid from service, I'm living a braid free life for now.?
  23. This Dang Koi! I was fishing, intensely watching the slack line on my wacky set-up when a huge Koi swims up and camps out right on front of me. I have seen it several times since... This pic is from yesterday.
  24. Ah... I remember that lesson.
