  1. I have two very good reels that I've owned for two years and today I am getting my stuff ready for the season and I've noticed when I turn the handles on them they appear to be stiff. They still work, they're just not buttery smooth like they were new. One is a Lews Tournment MP and the other is a Shimano SLX. I bought them new two years ago and they don't really have that much use. What is usually the culprit here...is it the bearings or the worm gear/line guide?
  2. Hey guys/girls....I recieved a brand new 13 Fishing Fate Spinning Rod as a gift. It is 7'1" in length, Medium/Heavy power, Extra Fast action. I've been scratching my head to figure out which application best fits this rod. Understand I am new to Bass Fishing. From the research I've done....Drop Shots, Tubes, and Ned Rigs require Medium to Medium/light, so they're out. Spinner Baits, Bladed Baits & Swimbaits I throw on a Baitcaster. I don't know....I'm guessing Jigs, maybe some topwater. Texas/Carolina Rigs? Thanks for any advice you can give me.
  3. I absolutely LOVE to pitch docks but I am no expert and backlash often. Just saw this new reel advertised and read up on it. I am very intrigued but $200 is a bit much for a Weekend Warrior. Looks like it uses a shallow spool and a unique "skipping" setting. Can you guys recommend a cheaper product or alternative setup?

  6. Hello everyone! My name is Tony, I’m 49 and I have been an avid angler for most of my life. My previous experience is in trolling for Walleye, Salmon, and Trout. I am also an avid Pan-Fisherman too. But just recently I’ve taken a huge interest in Bass-Fishing. My last boat was a 1997 Bayliner Trophy that I sold in 2007. It was a great boat for the pursuit of the aforementioned species, but outside of that it was not very versatile. After spending 10 years in Youth Football (a story for another time) I did a couple years of intense research for my next boat and settled on a brand new 1875 Lund Impact Sport that I take delivery of in March. I cannot wait. It is a VERY versatile boat. I will be able to jig in the rivers for Walleyes, Troll for Musky, Pan-Fishing, and with its lower gunnels and shallow draft will lend itself quite well to Bass Fishing, which I expect to be doing most of the time. My home lake is the legendary Smallmouth fishery; Lake St. Clair in Macomb County, Michigan. Looking forward to dialoguing with everyone here on a subject I know little about.
