Hello from Jacksonville, FL. Recently, moved here from S. Florida. Starting to fall in love with retention ponds here. My two largest bass were caught in August.

Hey there, I love Stick Marsh and have fished it since opening in 1991 to the public. Even spent my honeymoon fishing there. My wife caught a 10lb bass on her first cast the morning we arrived. It used to be much better than it is now. The last few years have only been fair. There has apparently been an issue with water containing biohazards being pumped from Lake Blue Cypress to the SE corner of Farm 13. It comes in about 100 ft from the lock. Water management was trying to remove them from Blue Cypress and over the locks was the plan. This was about 2 years ago. I love Stick Marsh/ Farm 13 and hope it returns to the world class fishery it once was. I’m not sure if you’ve heard of Lake Egan. It’s right next to Stick Marsh and the only boat ramp just opened about 6 mos. ago. It’s open to motorized boats now and is on fire. The lake is larger than Stick Marsh and Farm 13 combined. It was built and designed to be a bass paradise. It’s like Stick Marsh 2.0! They’ve been catching huge numbers and lots of 5-10 lbs. Most of the fish have never seen a lure. I would fish there for sure over the Marsh, if you can. Check it out online. There are tons of videos most from Kayaks before motors were allowed. Tight lines either way!
