  1. I’m looking at this 14 crestliner, the dealer sent me a pic of the rear compartment. It’s pretty dirty. Is this a clue that it was kept in the rain or does it just need to be cleaned? The rest of the boat looks good
  2. Ok that’s good to know, thank you
  3. Did they allow you to pay more per month to lessen the length of the loan?
  4. What’s up guys, I’m going to be buying a boat this winter and will need to finance at least 25k$. When I went to Cabela’s they are saying that the lowest interest rates they are seeing is around 7-8%. I have excellent credit fyi. Has anyone had experience financing through bps? Are there better options out there if I finance third party? What companies or lenders would you recommend? Trying to get the lowest interest rate possible. thanks nick
  5. What’s up guys I’m interested in buying a 17/18ft bass boat this winter and just trying to get my **** together. Has anyone used a marine surveyor before on a bass boat? The boat I’m looking at is fairly new 2018 and from a reputable dealer. Do I need a survey? This is my first boat so just trying to make sure I don’t get screwed. I’m also a little concerned I won’t by able to do a sea test because most waterways may be frozen over this winter. Any help is greatly appreciated!
  6. Ok thank you for the info! so I’m looking to buy this winter and most waterways will be frozen. Any suggestions on how I can replicate a sea test without hitting the water?
  7. Do I still need to do a leak down test and compression of the motor is newer? 2018. Will the dealer have that info? What’s a bad number?
  8. It’s not the original motor, looks like mildew on the carpet on both casting decks too…
  9. What’s going on guys, I’m looking to buy my first bass boat and this boat is right up my alley. I’ve been waiting for a Rt178 to be for sale, in my price range and it’s finally relatively close to where I live. My budget max budget is $20k so I’m hoping I can get this down to $18k. Is that realistic? I’ve never haggled with a boat dealer. I know there are extra fees that they add on there, so I really like to be out the door at 18 flat. Are there any red flags you see that I don’t when you look at the listing? It’s my first time buying or dealing with a boat dealer. I’ve got screwed buying a car when I was in my early twenties so I have so apprehension and honestly it’s hard to trust dealers even if they are reputable. I’m trying to get a buddy to come see if with me but that’s not for a few weeks. So seeing what y’all have to say or advice in general. https://boattrader.page.link/?ibi=com%2Eboatsgroup%2Eboattrader&st=Ranger%20Tournament%20RT178&si=https%3A%2F%2Fimages%2Eboattrader%2Ecom%2Fresize%2F1%2F5%2F43%2F8590543%5F20221111111011531%5F1%5FLARGE%2Ejpg%3Fw%3D600%26h%3D401%26t%3D1668193812000%26exact&isi=1403420067&apn=com%2Eboatsgroup%2Eboattrader&link=https%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Eboattrader%2Ecom%2Fboat%2F2016%2Dranger%2Dtournament%2Drt178%2D8590543%2F%3FUTM%5Fsource%3DBTMA%26UTM%5Fcampaign%3Dshared
  10. Thanks for the tip. I’m in the market to buy this November. Hopefully the market won’t be as crazy
  11. Top of the evening to ya. I’m buying my first boat soon and it looks like used is the way to go. I wanted to know what things to look out for when buying a used boat and some info of warranties. Looking for Red flags for the most part. My price range is around $20k and looking for a Ranger RT178 or something around that size and similar available options. Open to other brands. Want a boat that is no more than 5 years old is still has warranty. I know tracker and ranger have a warranty that transfers to second owner and isn’t pro rated. Crestliner has a 10 year i think but isn’t transferred to second owner and is pro rated. Correct me if I’m wrong here. Anyone have experience dealing with warranty departments with these makes? I’ll most likely be buying from a dealer, do most dealers recondition trade ins to make sure they are in good shape and that everything works? Do they have to disclose if something is broken? Do most dealers allow you to do a test drive before purchase? I’ll probably be flying out to buy something and tow it back. I live in the New England so finding a good deal on a mod v is tough. My biggest fear is that I spend time finding something online, booking a flight spending all that money to travel just to find out it’s got issues or the dealer “forgot” to take a picture of the port side which has a massive dent in it. I feel like a know a few of the basics. Don’t buy if: The boat has ever sunk Hasn’t run in years excessive hull damage So any tips from folks who have bought a boat or I guess not bought a boat out of state would help tremendously. Tight lines, Nick
  12. Thanks for your input! What did you end up buying? ? The wife is actually down for a boat surprisingly! Thanks for the input I think Nov is a good target given the economy and *** that’s going on right now
  13. Hey guys, I’m looking to buy a new bass boat after October 2022. I get married, so have to wait to buy a boat till after October. Is there a “best” time to buy a new boat? Do manufacturers or dealers offer better deals at specific times of the year?
  14. I will have to measure the width of garage to the boat width. I wanted to fit more in my garage than just the boat lol. Says 21.5 feet with swing tongue. Also looking to put a 75 hp so it might be longer than what’s listed below
  15. Ya it was quite the bummer, about a foot short. I don’t really want to angle it in there.
  16. Sup guys, I am researching new boats for next season. I live near Springfield mass and was looking to buy a Ranger RT178 from Cabelas, but it’s too big for my garage. My only other option that I could afford that will fit in my garage is a Tracker Pro 170 from Cabelas. I’d really like to not buy a Tracker for many reasons. Looking to buy 1700 Ridge I’m looking into Crestliners, but can’t find a large dealer around to buy from. I’m also worried about having to bring the boat back to the dealer if there’s any issues with the boat. I don’t want to drive two far if that were to happen. I’ve searched around for Crestliner dealers and everyone up here focuses on pontoon boats. Looking for a reputable Crestliner dealer in the NorthEast. If anyone has had anyone they have used in the New England area that would be great. Cheers, Nick
  17. That’s definitely something I need to consider. Thank you
  18. After more research I think I’m between the Crestliner XF179 and the Ranger RT178. Hard to find content on the crestliner. Does anyone have one?
  19. @NorthernBasser I haven’t, but will look into that. Do you have that boat? @WRB I was looking At the H17 but a bit expensive. Nice boat though. Love the yammy and sea deck.
  20. What’s up guys. Looking for some advice on which boat I want to buy next year. It seems like both boats are priced around the same even with add ons. Just under $30k. I know BPS bought out Ranger. Should I be worried with quality with them? Is one brand better than the other? I know they are both very reputable boat brands. I wanted to get your opinion on which boat you would chose and why. A little about me and what I’d better using the bot for. I Bass fish in the northeast on small to medium size lakes and rivers. Mostly fish the weekends or after work during the week. It would mostly be me fishing solo and occasionally another angler. I will most likely trailer the boat and keep in my garage. I don’t really fish tourney’s. I don’t see the need in maxing out the engines even though I know it’ll be better for resell and performance. Looking at 60hp for each. If it takes a little longer to get to a spot I’m ok with that. Both boats should plane fine with that amount of HP right? Looking for a boat that will give me minimal issues as far as maintenance and repairs go. Open to other boat options besides these two, just not really considering Tracker. -Nick
  21. Got it, thanks guys
  22. Looking for a mod v
  23. How big of a boat should I be targeting to buy as far as length if I want to fish three guys at a time? I would say it would be two most days but would like the option to fish three comfortably.
  24. Thanks guys! I went with MH! Appreciate the insight!
  25. I have the 3000 Vanford, trying to pair to the right Zodias Spinning rod. I’m trying to decide between the 7M or 7MH. I have read that these rods run stiffer than others, is that true? I’d be using it for T-Rigs and other soft plastics 80% of the time because that’s what we fish with most in my area. But I’d also like the versatility to throw small/ shallow cranks, top water. I fish a lot of different types of lakes, but most consist of weeds and heavy cover. I guess I’m leaning towards MH because I can throw more types of lures and it will be better when ripping fish out of slop. Is my mentality correct?
