  1. There is a great episode of the Alex Rudd fishing podcast just a couple weeks ago where he talked to a fisheries biologist on how to correctly stock ponds in order to ensure your bass will grow to be huge and it will thrive. Episode 137. I HIGHLY recommend giving it a listen before you stock anything! I took a lot away from it. Someone like this, yes!
  2. I love the SK River Bugs. Didn’t know they stopped making them. Time to buy up any stock I find left.
  3. I’m a big fan of the Beast Coast Hustler Hybrid. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Beast_Coast_Hustler_Hybrid_Finesse_Jig/descpage-BHR.html
  4. Strike King KVD Swim jig in blue shad with a keitech sexy shad trailer. 5.8 and 22in. PB top water on a Lunker Hunt Kraken Walking Frog at 5.3 and 24in (photo) PB Small Mouth on a Cotton Cordell Super Spot Lipless at 2.15 and 18in (photo) 2021 blessed me well.
  5. Hello friends! Looking into purchasing my first fish finder for my 11ft Yukon Angler and wondering if people can give me some suggestions, pros & cons between Garmin and Lowrance? Trying to keep the unit price under $300 so it’s between the Garmin Vivid 4 or 5 CV and Lowrance HookReveal 5x. Any thoughts or experience with these?
  6. Thank you all so much for your insight. I’ll give it a try and see if I can get a little bit of time out of it! I am! I’ll look into it! Thanks for your help! Yes, it pretty much is. I’ll give it a shot and see if I can get some use out of it. If it breaks it’s no biggie and I may try to figure out a different use for it. if the tip was the only thing missing I might have landed on the most incredible deal.
  7. It wasn’t through PayPal. It was a local auction site in the city I live in. I knew I was buying something broken, but I didn’t know there was splintering too. I just want to know if that is something that would cause the rod to be unusable, or, if it’s something that isn’t an enormous deal and can be fixed some way. I only paid 45 cents for the thing so I’m not too worried if I have to pitch it. I thought about just putting an epoxy on it and taping it or wrap it. I agree, it’s worth the investment for what I paid for it. It’s make one heck of a fly swatter if not. Those heavy rods are HUGE.
  8. No, and I knew going into it that there was a breakage. But that was just the tip of the rod, not the splintering. It’s just a local auction where stuff is sold as is. All of the items are usually open box and have things wrong with them. I’ve done a lot of purchases through it and had some go great and some things are duds. It’s just the luck of the draw. I just wondered if there was a way to patch up the splintering or if it’s just a dud. To clarify, all of the items are returns. Hence the price lol.
  9. So I own a Lew’s TP1 Black Med Fast action Rod and absolutely love it. I saw this TP1B Heavy Fast rod on a local auction site with a broken tip, knew how easy a fix that would be and ended up winning it for $.45 Once I picked it up though I noticed it is splintering a bit just above one of the guides. It’s minimal and I see no other cracking underneath or anything else, but I wondered if it may be shot then or if it’s possible that it could hold up with some wrap or something. I posted a photo of the splintering and it appears to be a little of the top layer. Everything else about the rod other than the tip is completely fine from what I can see. Again, for $.45 it’s not going to crush my soul if it’s gone, but I just thought it was well worth the $.45.
  10. Ah I see! I think that’s my issue. I mean, it holds some sentimental value as it came down through my family somehow, but honestly I don’t even really know who it belonged to at this point. I just know it’s cool, old and I won’t find replacement parts anywhere.
  11. I’m confused to the question? I’d obviously not like it to break but I just don’t know enough about it to make sure I’m doing the things to keep it that way.
  12. Honestly not 100% sure. My man! Thank you for your in depth wisdom about this reel. I’m new to serious fishing, but at this point (due to the MANY hours spent fishing this last year due to COVID) pretty well experienced with casting and cleaning/taking care of gear. But for something like this I am clueless. I just want to make sure I am properly taking care of it and will have it for more years to come. Even stuff such as the line I never would have thought about in my wildest dreams. This is why I love the fishing community. Thanks again!
  13. No wrong way taken! I’m honestly not into it’s value or selling it at all. I am fully aware, as with anything, once it’s out of the box the value drops, that’s just normal depreciation. It more so holds sentimental value because it’s been in sitting in my parents basement for my entire life, but, I just came across it last year and got my hands on it. My main question is do I let it sit pretty on a shelf or give it some TLC and take it out for use. Plus, I’m more into keeping it because it’s a cool old reel. I love it.
  14. So late last year I was given a vintage Langley Lakecast Baitcaster and am having a hard time deciding what to do with it. I did spool it with some 10lb mono and gave it a whirl at a local pond but stopped because I just didn’t want to take the chance of ruining it. Still has all original parts, clicker switch still works and all. I hate to see it sit on a shelf but I don’t know if I want to risk breaking if. I just have a dream of landing at least one or two on it. Thoughts?
  15. AEP has so many ponds it’s insane. There’s one or two that are absolute gems as well but they’re impossible to bank fish from. On a kayak I’m sure you could work the pond and catch the bass of a lifetime. I had little success down there but did manage 3 at pond 48 but had a HECK of a time getting down there. Definitely don’t go alone.
