  1. First cast for me, bang. Fish. 100 casts later. Nothing. Which is meaningless, just funny to me.
  2. That shallow IXI shad is on my radar. Looks fantastic for the Fall when those bass are blasting shad in the shallow flats.
  3. Ha, yeah I can see two lure designers having a bet to see if it would work. Somebody lost a crap ton of Yen because Holy Smokes they catch them. Panfish dig them too.
  4. I light them up every year on this, pre-spawn to post-spawn. The Kemushi is on my list to try, I used the hairy dice last year from OSP, and they work. __________ My strategy this year is to focus on the extremes, I'm fishing mostly BFS and Swimbaits. Ultra big and Ultra small. I feel like the bass in my area see too much of the lures in the middle. Maybe I'll strike out with this approach, but that's what I'm going to do.
  5. I shoot and edit video for a living, I’ve long thought about starting a fishing YouTube channel. I have a notebook full of ideas. But, I’ll be honest, I use fishing as therapy and a stress release. It’s my time to get away from work, so I’ve resisted the urge. Also, I don’t understand how people can qualify tacticalbassin as educational. They seem like good dudes living a great life and having a good time. We should be so lucky. But they really are just tackle peddlers.
  6. Anyone know when the next Tackle Warehouse sale is? Do they usually have something around the Classic?
  7. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Xcite_Baits_Heckler_Topwater/descpage-XCH.html https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Reaction_Innovations_Vixen/descpage-RIV.html https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Teckel_USA_Kicknocker_Walking_Bait/descpage-TKNK.html These are all the same baits, they all use a similar or the same mold. I don't have all three so I can't speak for their hardware. One of them might have better hooks, etc.
  8. X2 on the wobble head. It’s my favorite way to fish them.
  9. The Hook Up tackle has a Pre Spawn sale. 15 percent off everything minus the MAP priced products… Megabass, etc.
  10. Take a look at these, I've been pleased with them. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Zappu_Board_Weights/descpage-ZBWS.html?from=gshop&gclid=Cj0KCQiAxbefBhDfARIsAL4XLRoNh2x-FiJI8oKWRgGGb0WXCVwOn6Srli9von4oAFRg8BzWv8NK7gUaAnFDEALw_wcB
  11. 4.8 Deps Bullflat. You can either use a sweep and stop motion to get it to glide off the bottom, or use it like a weightless senko, pitch it into docks, laydowns, etc. and wait for it to flutter down. Most of the fish I catch on this are bigger than the average fish in my bodies of water. They have other sizes, but I've found the 4.8 is the sweet spot for getting enough bites to stay confident with it yet upping the size of fish you're catching. Although, I do dig using the little 2.8 on a free rig.
  12. I have never personally used one, but I am very familiar with all things Megabass and own quite a few of the P5s. I do know that in Japan, the Cyclone is one of the most popular models due to its versatility. It has been in the Destroyer line for many many years and iterations. I’m fairly certain it’s spot on for jerks, topwater, spinners, chatters, small squarebills, senkos, medium sized paddle tails. Super versatile. Sounds like a great kayak rod.
  13. One of the new Zman micro trds.
  14. Crazy, I did not know they made those. Thanks for the heads up. If it has the same action as the original but just runs on top, could be a good one.
  15. X2 on a standard fluke.
  16. That 6th Sense crank you referenced is not what I would consider a wake bait. It’s more of a shallow runner. You’ll have to alter your retrieve and hold your rod tip very high to “wake” it. 6th sense does make something called a speed wake that is very easy to create a wake on the surface.
  17. These are the bees knees. I've been fishing them like a shad style bait with a slow sweep and pause. They've been my go to this winter.
  18. Bass eat everything, if there are no baitfish they'll eat insects, snakes, frogs, birds, worms and crawfish. I wouldn't worry about it.
  19. Learn the FG Knot. It’s a PIA at first, but it’ll run through some of your smaller guides. Super strong knot. But it takes effort to master.
  20. Crazy, I have this same exact setup, even down to using the 6lb fluoro. Great Ned rig rod. Yes absolutely will throw shad style lures beautifully. If you don’t need the extra length, it’s awesome at ultra light hair jigs (mainly a smallmouth technique). I was using it as my bfs sized jerkbait rod, but I’ve since switched over to a BFS rod / reel. Also, if I’m ever using an 1/8 oz free rig set up I’ll use this rod. Can you tell I’m a fan? Sooo light and crisp.
  21. Always a good time. I'm in. I think this year I'm going to pull names out of a hat. I'd venture a guess I'd finish higher in the ranks with this method.
  22. Two soft plastics that caught fish for me this year, 1. Keitech Krazy Flapper, 2. Nishine Lure Works Namazu. Both Free rigged. Two hard baits that were constant fish catchers, Warm Water: Deps Evoke 2.0, Cold Water OSP Dunk.
  23. @KP Duty That’s a mic drop of a photo!
  24. Mojo/Carolina rig with a shad rap/flicker shad. It’s not really a secret, but I’m doubting it’s a widely used technique. I’ll crack it out if I’m seeing fish on sonar a few feet above the bottom. Give it some gentle sweeps and the lure just sits right in their face. Adjust weight on depth of water.
  25. Crappie is an under-utilized color pattern by anglers and lure companies. I wish more companies made them. I know a few dudes that get lures custom painted like crappie and do quite well with them. I'd look for a deep crank or deep diving jerkbait and get it custom painted. I got one of these guys a week or two ago but haven't used it yet. This one is a JDM lure by a company called Mibro. Spro makes a color called Cellmate, that's supposed to be like a crappie.
