  1. Nothing too big, but had a rare day where we could do no wrong. Caught fish all day. Here's a couple of them.
  2. Apparently something wasn't sealed rite on the fuel pump and it had to be replaced. I got a letter in the mail. There is some discussion on this on the 40th anniversary heritage tracker post. Someone listed 920-929-5040 as the Merc number to call to see if your motor is affected.
  3. We were out today, LM on beds every where . Honestly pick your favorite soft plastic and keep sticking in their face. tick them off enough and they might take a swipe at it. That's what I did for a half hour to day to get one to bite.
  4. Thanks for the info. Yes we have a boat, so larger water is better. I recently retired and am living here to be close to work, not an issue any more. We have to travel an hour to get to good fishing from here and taxes are high. We are thinking of moving for lower taxes and fishing closer by. So we thought if we are going to move, lets move where the fishing is really good. I've looked at a lot of places on the map, but I'd like to hear from people that fish them a lot. If and when I'm up in your area, I'll give you a shout. Thanks Jim
  5. Just an FYI to anyone affected. Had my 50 Merc done today. Takes about 45 minutes. In and out.
  6. Bass will at times eat most anything. I believe that like trout, if a certain food is in abundance, they will be conditioned to focus on that food. Like trout fishing, at times like these you need to " match the hatch ". I have also seen the opposite. I was in a cove ( clear water ) and watched bass swimming with perch, sunnys, minnows, you name it. All seeming to be in harmony. Tossed every perch, blue gill, looking bait I could think of, no joy. Tossed a bubble gum Senko and got bit right away. Go figure.
  7. For SM & LM. Where in Maine would you consider the best fishing ( lakes or area) We're considering moving further into Maine, (living in the Kittery area now ) and would like to be close by to quality SM,LM, fishing. Thanks Jim
  8. Lot of people don't like them, there toothy and slimy. But when they start getting to a certain size, I think their fun to catch, and fight well. Good job on a new species.
  9. I got the fuel pump recall notice for my Merc in the mail yesterday. Called Greene Marine ( my Lund dealer) and spoke to the service manager. Said I had the recall notice, how long to get the part, how long to schedule an appointment. Reminded him I just picked up the boat last month, the fish are biting, I just retired and was fishing a lot, kinda held my breath and asked " how long will I be with out the boat? " He laughed and said " funny you should call, we just started getting a few replacements in. I put your name on one and was going to call you later today." Then he said " according to the weather it's supposed to be pretty windy on Weds., not the best fishing day, why don't you bring the boat up mid morning, take us about a hour and a half and your on your way." So tomorrow morning we'll bring the boat up, drop it off, and as there is a nice place to eat and a Bass Pro fifteen minutes from the dealership, guess how we'll spend our time. As I said, it's nice to have a good dealer. Jim

  10. I'm also of the school of there is never a bad day of fishing. My wife and I were out yesterday and caught fish ( a bonus ). But we also saw loons, an eagle, a massive snapping turtle, A pair of LM on a bed doing their " lets get busy" thing ( It was so cool to watch, would never try to catch them). Got a lot of fresh air, saw nature at it's best. Had a great day. What's not to like?
  11. My ex FIL was the nicest guy but numb as a fence post. I used to take him fishing and no matter how much tackle I bought him for birthdays/ fathers day etc. he would always forget it and ask to borrow mine. I had to grit my teeth more than once with him.
  12. physical pain-- For me it's dental. Before doing a root canal I had to have my gums lowered. Two years after that they discovered a wisdom tooth had grown down and was pushing against the root of the next tooth. They had to practically break my jaw to get them out. A close second is popping a couple of discs in my back. Emotional pain-- My mother has dementia/ Alzheimer's. We drove up to see her today at the facility she is in. And like always it broke me up. Thank god my dad passed away before she was like that.
  13. I have no problem buying a license or dropping a dime on someone breaking the law. I think our fish and game people do a great job. Just watch older episodes of North Woods Law.
  14. Thanks for the help. I'll play around with it some more. I used to be able to post 3-5 pics. no issue. Now I'll put one in, and if I want to put a space between pics, or a caption, I'll hit enter and the little bar will jump to the bottom of the page, leaving another whole pics worth blank. If I don't leave a space, I can put two pics in. If I try for a third, It cuts it in half when I post. Any more than that and it leaves them out.
  15. Fished out of a 14 ft. boat for years. Caught lots of nice fish. One of our favorite lakes has access only by going thru a culvert. Most larger boats won't try to made the fit. Often we have the lake to our selves. It's nice. Next time you hear folks talking about needing a monster truck to tow their boat and burning up multiple gallons of gas per trip, you can just smile.
  16. Imagine all the trophy bass your zipping by in a hurry to get some where else.
  17. We are the generation of "you need to burn before you tan" so we wear hats, sun screen, etc. But sometimes if it's just too hot, we want to take a break in the shade. So we have this.
  18. I usually fish the same bodies of water, and know what generally works. However on the days that "old faithful" isn't producing, how much I change my game depends on my mood. If I haven't had a good "fish " day in a while I'll hunker down and go thru my bag of tricks. Other times I'll just putt along. For instance, If I'm fishing weeds and lilly pads, I like throwing a frog, it's fun. If the bite is slow I'll probably keep using it, just because it's fun. I'd rather catch 1 or 2 on a frog than more punching thru slop.
  19. I'm not the best expert, but this is what I'm seeing, In the last few days (including yesterday) I've seen multiple larger SM cruising parallel to the shore in 3-8 ft. of water. I've not seen much on the fishfinder at drop-offs. My best to date (3.7) was caught on a swimmn caffeine shad. What part of western Maine are you from? Jim
  20. I sized the pics to half of what they were, still no joy. Any other thoughts?
  21. I think I'm getting confused. My understanding is post image will auto resize to whatever size you pick. My pics are 640 x 480 because that's the size I picked. This size was working for multiple pics. until recently.
  22. Thanks, What size are your pics. at ? maybe that's my issue?
  23. I am using postimage and have been for some time. Lately though I have trouble posting more than 1 picture. I'm just trying to understand why.
  24. Saw the first sign of the spawn yesterday. A few fresh beds and males in the shallows. However the weather is calling for lows in the mid 30's the next couple of nights. That isn't going to help.
  25. I'll give it a try. Any idea what changed on the site ? If it's happening to both of us I don't think it could be our computers.
