  1. Anyone ever fish the small canals on the west border of Weston?
  2. Thanks for the tips. I was able to get out for a couple hours yesterday. I get the lake at the Residence inn and got one small largemouth on a spinner. I also went to a lake at Emerald Eststes Park. That lake bottom was completely covered in slime algae so it was difficult to fish. I was only there for a short time but I saw a lot of big fish. My lures kept getting fouled up in the slime algae and I didn’t get any bites on top water for the short time I was there. So far I’m not killing it. But it’s really nice to be chilling and fishing. So I’m not that worried about it. I’m heading out again tomorrow morning. I’ll take those tips with me and see what happens. thanks.
  3. What are the lures of choice? I had about 30 minutes before dark to fish. I just picked one of the small lakes with some parking next to it. I threw in a Texas rigged pumpkin senko and got a few bites but didn’t land anything. The lack of light and bug bites stopped the fun. I’m going to head back tomorrow.
  4. Honestly. I’ll fish for anything. I just got back here for 6 days. On the way out of the airport we stopped at a pond and I gave the other pilot my heavier rod to fish for bass. I took the Ultralight, put a crappie bait on and caught some Mayan Cichlids. Who knew those were here?!?! To answer specifically though. Either or. I just like to catch fish. It would be cool to catch a peacock. I’ve never seen one other than pictures.
  5. Hello all. I’m a new guy to the forum. I come to Ft Lauderdale quite often for work and I’ve been unsuccessfully trying to find things I enjoy doing around there. Next time I come I’m going to bring some gear. I’ve been hunting on google maps for canals or small lakes to do some shore fishing but it’s difficult to determine where there is good access. I’ve seen the Weston area mentioned a few times. Would anyone be willing to share some details on good fishing spots with access for non residents in the area? Thanks, John
