  1. i enjoy sweating in the hot sun, makes me drink tons of water and keeps the weight off. I am always wearing long pants, waders, long sleeves, gloves, shoes, apply sunscreen every 2 hrs to my face, wear a gator around my neck and a wide brimmed straw cowboy hat complete with sunglasses. I used to fish facing into the sun in some areas but now i dont fish into the sun anymore as it was so hot with sun reflecting off the water that i couldnt keep my sweat from forming under the sunglasses that then ran into my eyes.
  2. a good 2 stroke engine like all the major brands have chrome plated or nikasil plated cylinder walls which are super tough. The cylinders can take some heavy abuse from lack of oil in gas mix and overheating, dirt getting past the air filters as the filter itself isnt much and the old 2 stroke snowmobiles didnt even have air filters only an air intake box if that. The pistons and rings are the parts in a 2 stroke that take the wear as they are made of softer material such as aluminum. You can run the engine untill it siezes and the real damage is on the piston exhaust side which gets the hottest and it will leave a trail of aluminum on the cylinder wall. All ya need to do is bang out the piston and get some muratic acid and a cloth and wipe of the aluminum from the cylinder wall, put in a new piston and rings and you are good to go. Also may need some crank and piston pin roller bearings as the originals may be blued from overheating but if just screwing around skip it.
  3. old 2 strokers with pull start, always got a laugh when the pull rope broke because the owner never cared that it was thin as a shoe lace. Ended up removing the shroud and winding whats left of the rope into the manual pully and doing that 50 times as the carbs with the diafram fuel pumps were wore out. Good times.
  4. my wife thinks you need to, well you know ?
  5. i went out for first time today, had a choice between a 3 mile drive to the Red River here in north dakota or a 16 acre lake 23 miles away. I chose the lake, I never been there before but according to a fellow i met all he ever catches are small northerns. So i start out at 2 pm throwing spinners, chatterbaits, shad raps, square bills, suspending jerks and no luck so i was gonna go but it was just a beautiful day out and better than being at home. So i tried a 2 3/4 inch spook looking popper translucent and tossed it out and walked it and got a little explosion on the surface and had me a little northern. I will drive over to the river this week and then to Detroit Lakes area in Minn this weekend for some roadside crappie action weather permitting.
  6. using a pflueger supreme size 30 i crank the heck out of my reel keeping that fish out of the deep grass. I am cranking with 30lb braid with a snapped on 20lb leader all the while i am cranking the drag will kick in and i keep reeling as this is what works for me. The last time i quit on a fish it got off so i crank untill the cows come home. If my reel was to go bad from this extreme cranking then i woud have to seek out another brand of higher quality.
  7. soft tissue injuries to the neck are long lasting and and will creep up on you. Somtimes you just think you have a stiff neck but its more involved. I bet he was hurting when it happened and days, weeks, even months later.
  8. yeah you are right, 1320 for 1/4 mile drags.
  9. whos gonna pay for the railing damage, dont you have cctv cameras?
  10. here ya go, get these waders to start out with and after the season or whenever you can upgrade and give this pair to your girlfriend -wife or let a friend use them. https://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/frogg-toggs-rana-ii-dark-brown-cleated-pvc-boot-foot-chest-waders/0000000245953;jsessionid=uB1xdA2RCVhmTSiipBSUV0_tMAhP_Z270f9LNxG2oT0kWQPht8Lq!1950380476?bc=Frogg Toggs&brandCrumb=4290055445&bn=frogg-toggs
  11. a quarter mile is 1326 ft
  12. the neoprene insulated waders are very heavy compared to the regular cheaper non insulated frogg toggs which i wear so consider that. Also the reg froggs you really need to put a good sole cushion in the foot like a soft sole which i use because without they are painfull to walk in for an extended time. When in the water i go deep up to mid stomach and if you have never worn them before understand that the water pressure will make the legs of the waders feel like someone plastic wrapped your legs or feel like vacuumed packed hot dogs. I havnt gotten any holes yet but wont be surprised if they show up sometime as i wear mine traversing through prickly bushes, crawl over fallen trees, sit on rocks...... If leakage ever became a problem and it was bad enough to hinder my comfort i would consider purchasing a 4-3 mm wet suit or 2mm. You can get a full wetsuit or 2 piece where the bottoms go up to the chest and a zip up jacket. When i lived in california i was an every weekend gold miner using a suction dredge to get my gold and the water temps in the high sierras was 50 degrees and my 4-3 wetsuit kept me warm and protected.
  13. if you dont wear waders be sure to check your pockets for leaches when you get out. Happened to me. Your shoes will fill up with sand and if you wear socks you will be shaking sand out of them for weeks even after washing. Some lakes can give you swimmers itch, I got that too where i got red little pinhead pimples on my legs and itched real bad for a month and thats when i bought my frogg togg chest waders for $64.00.
  14. keep em oiled up after every trip with rem oil but when out fishing in deep water with waders and around rocks my reels get dunked and banged against rocks. If i slip which i have and the reel is in my hand that breaks my fall on the rocks so be it. If it breaks i will buy another, all my reels are in the $100.00 range pfluegers spinning.
  15. there was a movie that came out last year starring the actress last name McDermont whom lived in her camper and traveled around and lived like a homeless person. Every x-mas she would show up at an amazon distribution center and park her camper and work for amazon untill season was over.
  16. you must have watched that movie?
  17. retired for 11 years now but when i was a heavy equipment mechanic i was moved into the shop foreman position. On a friday morning my boss told me i was to fire an employee at the end of the day. I was glad to do it to get this useless person out of our shop. The friday i fired him he was mad because instead of the boss firing him i was doing it and he disliked me. On saturday morning i went outside to get into my truck and the windows on the drivers side were smashed and a big rock the size of a softball was laying next to the truck. I picked up the rock and put it in the cab and drove over to his house and rang the doorbell but no one answered so i left the rock at his doorstep and never had another problem.
  18. Rod-n bobbs, 3 in 1 bobber https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/rod-n-bobbs-revolution-x-3-in-1-bobber?ds_e=GOOGLE&ds_c=Shop|CAB|TopPerformers|Fishing&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI06mAysm77wIVlJJbCh1sSQ9SEAQYBCABEgLb9fD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  19. i also traded mine in last week, but the dealer screwed me by about $2000.00 telling me my trade in needed some body work, yeah right.
  20. get a fart app and when in the next stall turn up the volume and let er rip and try to not bust out laughing.
  21. after dipping hard baits in a bottlle of spike it lure coloring garlic scent i cleaned up the neck of the bottle with a tissue. It smelled of heavy garlic so i threw it into the toilet but didnt flush it. Then i went and laid down in bed next to the wife and she was repulsed by the smell that was now on my hands and shirt. I learned two things last night, its ok for the wife to cut up garlic when making our dinner but not ok for me to dip baits around her and the 2nd thing is to always flush the toilet and put the lid down. Love you babe.
  22. fish gotta eat to ya know.
  23. first time i ever purchased scent and coloring liquid and now i find out the spike it i bought is for hard baits and not for plastics. Label says "the original scented lure dye". I put the claws of a craw into it a nary a change to the naked eye. Then put hard bait in it and works great. So now i am happy to use it on hard baits as i allready dipped some in it. The spike it i need is the one reading for worms and plastics, just beware if you buy some for the first time. I just laid down in bed from dipping some lures and my wife asked whats that smell.
  24. hmmm tough one to interpret?
  25. here in minn i dont mind the waiting. Maybe in 3 weeks the ice will be melted away from the always slightly open culverts enough to where i can sit in a chair and bobber fish for crappie and just be lazy about it untill bass season opens in mid May. The red river here is allready open, i walked down to it and picked out some areas to fish come warmer water. The water temp is still 35 F and waiting for 50 for the pike spawn.
