  1. when i looked at a bunch of the same rods i was not even looking for an epoxy build up, never even thought that was a thing. When i was making sure all the guides were not bent i noticed that some rods had more thicker guide support and then i got to lookin at the wrap and finish in the light given off from the stores florescent lights and thought the rod with the best looking finish also had the thicker guides. From what i know about rod building which is nothing more than watching you-tube video on how a rod is made i see that a human is actually applying the epoxy around the guides.
  2. when buyng rods in person i purposely picked the rod with the most built up epoxy around the guides.
  3. watch this guy, he scams the scammers when they get access to his computer as he lets them on and then the good guy deletes the scammers files. I have watched a hundred of his videos and its very informative and entertaining. Here is an example.
  4. in january 2021 i wanted to be able to use my right dominate hand for not just casting and holding the rod but get used to using the right hand for reeling because i reel left handed and felt i needed to spread the wear and tear between the two hands, arms, shoulders after 2 elbow operations and 3 shoulder surgeries. So i started brushig my teeth using left hand only and wow was that unusual after years of only using right hand and just the muscles needed to brush with left got sore for awhile. Also started using left hand for holding things such as screwdrivers, washing dishes..... now that i started fishing again 3 weeks ago i started casting with the left arm and reeling with the right and again wow what a challenge that was to just open and close the bail and hold my finger on the line and rod to make a cast but i kept to it and just the other day i started with casting with my left and reeling with my right and stuck with it and didnt change the handle over all day. So now i am gettin real comfortable with the left i will start switching the handle every couple hours just to even out the wear and tear on my joints.
  5. went out today, stayed away from the lake where i was gettin all the bass last week and tried out a lake and caught nothing. Before we moved on I put on my waders and walked through the brush to the water in a shallow cove and was standing in laid over cattails and weeds when i looked down and next to my foot was a big sunnie in a foot of water and nesseled in the weeds. I geuss it was makin a bed? I seen another movin next to a log in the weeds. We then went to Long Bridge at detroit lakes and under the bridge i caught 2 blue gill on jig with gulp minnow and a bobber. Water only 39 F and i sat my lawn chair in the water and took a seat with my waders on. My waders are not insulated and had 2 pairs of socks on and my toes got cold but i survived. Looking at the extended forecast i am staying home this weekend and will try again next weekend.
  6. no matter where i go i find trash stuffed under rocks and worse when a car parks and then leaves they throw all their fast food wrappers out the door. Fricken scum of the earth some people are.

  9. there will be a time in the future where fishing reels that can hold over 120 yards of braided line will be banned along with all lures with treble hooks.
  10. going to a different lake this thursday in Minn as its gonna be 60 F but still only 45 degree water temp for some bank fishing for crappie. I tied up some different lures and will also be using a bobber with gulp live minnows. Yes all these are tied up using spro barrel swivels #8. I use many different lures during the day and this makes it sooooo easy to switch.
  11. where you located? going out again for crappie on thurs in Minn, expected 60 f.
  12. a bunch of karens living around the lake with money and next will have a save the fish rally.
  13. 2 lakes i fish on are just pure slime in the bays come 2nd week in august and arnt fishable till sept.
  14. i have split ring pliers but when i need to open it wider i use a knife blade.
  15. went crappie fishin yesterday and the water was 39 F and the bass were tearing up my crappie jig with an under spin and small grub on it with a steady reel. Why with 39 F water at 3 feet were the bass so very active and this was bank fishing standing in the same spot.
  16. Hit the bank in Minn waters saturday at 1pm with the air temp 43 degrees sunny and the water temp at 38 F. Wife and i all rigged up for crappie. She throws out a crappie jig with a berkley gulp alive 2 inch minnow and first cast catches a nice 3 lb bass. I throw out a crappie in line white spinner and first cast catch a 3 lb bass. Hmmm, cast out a few more times and we both hook up bass again. I change my lure to a crappie jig with an underspin and a small grub green and white hoping for some crappie to bring home. Nope, get bit again by a bass while casually reeling in the underspin in 3 foot of water. We were now catching bass every few casts and bass here doesnt open till May. I didnt want to get in any trouble so i put the rod down and did something i never did before while fishing. I went and sat in my car, relaxed and ate some lunch. Came back out to fish and again the bass hit, they were very frisky for this extremely cold water and bending my jig hooks out so i gave them lots of light drag. I decided to stop fishing as the crappie were not around and felt bad catching the bass especially it being so easy so we left for home.
  17. i am packed up for a 1 hr drive to detroit lakes to my crappie lake on saturday. Only gonna be a high of 50 but only 5-10 mph winds so shouldnt be to bad.
  18. to be of any great all around use dont buy anything under 2700 psi.
  19. watch this, you may learn something you need to know.
  20. i fish alot around Frazee area, especially the lakes that have very little boat traffic or houses on them. The area on DL where lots of people congragate are at Long Bridge where many people fish on and under the bridge as i have. The crappie are crazy in abundance under the bridge and using small plastic tubes and crappie minnows is a sure thing but as with all fishing after the spawn the crappie and panfish litterally dissapear from the bridge.
  21. bundle up buttercups its a long john type of day for me anyway.
  22. The detroit lakes area is supposed to be sunny and 50 both sat and sunday and then later on sunday gonna cloud up and possible rain. The water temp is only in the low 40s but whats a guy to do wait till june so off we will go and bank fish for the crappie as the weather doesnt look good for the following week.
  23. Well the red river is high from the snow/sleet/rain and river water temp fell back into the low 40,s. My crappie fishing at detroit lakes is on hold now for another 10 days till the cold and rain move out hopefully middle of next week which still doesnt look to nice.
  24. its easier to ask for forgivness than for permission.
