  1. bank fishing i am always getting my feet caught in discarded line, its like trip wire booby traped to get me to fall down which i come close to a few times.
  2. Wheres the water? started fishing at 11.30 am, it was 80f, hazy and cloudy with 10 mph wind blowing onto bank for bank fishing, looked great for some spinners, chatters, crankbaits, top waters but nothin bit. Walked the shoreline throwing a black kingtail tr into the thick shallow weeds and to the outside but with water extremely low the weeds are topping out way beyond the normal weedline dropoff where before they would be well underwater. I caught a nice fighting 3.5lber which i dragged out of the weeds but after that i got nothin, i threw jigs into the open areas of weeds but no hits. The bass slayer, aka my wife only got 1 bass but was a nice 4 lber which againe she casted a thousand times to get it. We then packed up and left for a lake where we can dock fish from shore on pelican lake, well the docks are sittin in about a foot of water and the spring that runs into that area is not running so we looked and drove off to another lake that always produces fish. We were there a week ago and now water so low my frog fishing lily pads are in a foot of water and though i tried there was no action with the frog, my frog tossing may be done for the year as it looks bleak at all my frog lakes due to water levels where i can now walk into the pads on dry land where before i caught fish. Now it was nice and overcast and 15mph wind blowing onto the bank but still the fish were not hangin around. I caught a bass dink on my last resort wild walleye swim bait and of course the bass slayer caught a 4 lber on a crankbait, sigh. Then i caught a sunny on a tr senko, whoopee. Unbelievably i called it at 8.30 pm as before i would fish till it was dark out but it just wasnt happening and may have to cross this favorite lake off the list for the rest of the year. Its only mid july and the water is going away only to get worse with extended 2 week forcast of 90 degree heat and sun. I am staying home for a break and will go out again next week in the evening hours, not gonna throw the towell in on the season.
  3. dig the outfit you are wearing,
  4. alligators get no respect, gettin all shot up on swamp people tv
  5. eyelids are to keep your eyes moist, a bass underwater will always have moist eyes?. Bass are what some million years evolved, if they needed eyelids i think they would have them by now?. It has more to do with the suns heat penatrating the water from what i have heard. Anyone else have an opinion on this?
  6. My spiderwire always has tiny pieces of fiber standing up after its broken in and thats after the dye wears off which is within a 1/2 hr of casting. Are you saying that your line has no tiny fibers standing up along the entire line? My line looks like an old sweater at only 4 months of use. I dont worry about the fibers as i never have had a problem since i started using spider in 1992. But I do replace my spider wire every year. Maybe for next year i reverse it because at the end of a long cast the line on spool is new and dark green but i would need to add a few yards of something else to make up for the line i lost this year due to retying the clip every time i go out.
  7. i myself quit using an o-ring and just hook em. After the experience of my worms getting tugged off and just the o-ring left on the hook i had enough. I bought that nice vmc o-ring installer last year and now i put it into my dont use tackle pile. Maybe you will do well with the o-ring but have you tried without the o-ring or are you just caught up in the group that praises the o-ring?
  8. cant stop watching this, dont know why.
  9. Well well, i finally outdid my wfe in fish size, size matters right? It was hot and sunny only 8 mph wind onto bank for ya know bank fishing. Started fishing at 2 pm and i caught immediatly a little 3 lber, using a berkley general and a spirallock 3/0 hook which is my new favorite size to use with the generals as a texas rig with a 1/4 oz pegged weight. A few casts later i caught a nice 6 lber. Then i walked the bank tossing the general wackey rigged on a 3/0 wire caged circle hook and caught a dink. By 2.45pm it was over for me as i didnt catch another fish and we left for home at 9pm. I threw every bait in my box and not even the frog or my special storm wildeye walleye in the evening could get me a sniff. I spent alot of time in my chair today as the weather was just to nice and the water flat after 3pm. I took my shoes off and ate almonds watching my wife AKA the bass slayer have an unusually bad numbers day as she only caught 2 bass, the biggest at 4.5 lber. She usually catches double digit numbers but today the action after 3 was dead and the evening prime time is when she caught her 2 at around 7pm and she worked hard for them casting out a tr senko as i heard the whipping whoosh sound of her every cast and seeing the mist of water fly off of her reel. During the closing of our day i said i wished i would have caught more fish and she says to me i should be contented with catching 3 fish. I says to wife that us guys are never content with just 3, we want more, thats why we fish. But yeah i was happy with the big one which makes the fishing part of the day a great day and the rest of the day to just to be out with nature, no phones, radio...yeah i was content.
  10. she has her style and i wont ask her to change. Instead of jewelry for X-mas i will just buy her a new reel which will be alot cheaper?. When i did clean her reel i also removed long strands of hair that were wound onto the spool shaft, heres why
  11. doesnt sound like you will be going to las vegas any time soon. i thought jigging was an olympic event?
  12. oh boy, no way would she wear that belt as it doesnt fit her fishing attire. My wife matches her outfit and most times it looks like we are going out to dinner instead of fishing. .
  13. all my reels have spiderwire 20 and 30 lb and the darn spider wire always looks frayed even after one outing with new line. As soon as the green dye wears off after a few casts it looks frayed with micro frays, little hairs standing up. I have been using spider since around 1992 and never had a problem with it even as it looks worn out. The line on her reel is 20lb.
  14. here is the spot that does all the damage I will let you know at the end of the season?
  15. bought wife a new pflueger president reel in april and since she fishes alot from the rocky, boulder, pea gravel bank for panfish and bass where she catches so many and then sets the rod down on the rocks to unhook and rebait the reel gets abused on the outside. I serviced her reel last week oiling it and greasing it and was surprised how beat up it was. I havnt said anything and never will because thats the environment she fishes in and she brings home the panfish and i am not going to put any negative thoughts into her head of her having to change her ways of fishing. Couple weeks ago she caught 46 panfish so thats 46 times for fish alone that the reel was put down onto the rocky shoreline. I will wait and see if any of the damage causes her line to get abused and frayed more likely to happen when she has a big fish on and line breaks off. When she caught all those panfish a bass hit her gulp minnow and she lost it so she picks up my spare setup and puts a texas rig worm on it, tosses it out and catches a bass. I was watching her from a distance and then went over to her and cringed when i seen my rod was sittin on the rocks so being the good husband i didnt say a thing but did put the spare rig a little bit away from her hoping she wont go get it next time.
  16. winter is coming soon ? in minn so thats motivation enough to get out now.
  17. not looking forard to it but we will need an epic amount of snowfall this coming winter to get all bodies of water back to normal.
  18. so far this month its been slowww. Last year my frog bite was in high gear in august and the water was high. This year water is very low and looking at some of my frog spots i wont be able to fish them this year.
  19. i lived in las vegas for 10 years and i fished lake mead and the colorado river. When it was 110 degrees plus we would jump in to cool off in lake mead as water was nice. When on the colorado river we woud jump in and go into shock as the water is 50 degrees.
  20. my philippine wife. She grew up catching catfish by hand in the muddy rice fields that got flooded by neerby creek during rainy season. She also fished with a cane pole with line attached to the end of pole and 5 feet of line and a hook and put on worm on it and let it sit. She and her familly caught fish to survive, not to hold up and take pictures of it, kiss it and let it go. They ate what they caught and sold some also.
  21. no pics of wifes fish, why? she has caught so many 5 lbers last year and this year allready that its no big deal to her but to me it is when i catch one. I like to hold the fish and show the lure i caught it on. Her best last year was 7 lb mine was 6. She has a uncanny knack for always catching the biggest and the most and she uses a $60.00 pflueger reel with braid and a $10.00 rod and will not use any other rod. I put her reel on another rod and she hated it. Here again is her best fish of 2020
  22. Went fishing tuesday afternoon, cold, wind blowing into our face from the bank at 15-26 mph, cloudy, rainy. Temp was only 60 and with the wind it had to be in low 50s or hi 40s as my nose was even running. I put on a sweatshirt and then a heavy jacket with winter knit hat. Threw out a square bill and caught a few bass 2 lbers working a channel by a small culvert and along side the weeds dragging it down and letting it pop up and sit repeat. Wife on the square bill caught a 5 lber grrrr. After the square bill bite ended went with a tr rigged rage menace got 0, then a tr rage craw 0, then put on #956 senko and first cast on tr rig got a bass, then a few more. Why do i even bother with the creature baits as the senko just does it all as i use broken senkos for trailors on jigs also. After the senko bite it was now 8.30 pm cloudy and drizzly and gettin cooler outside i put on a rapala rip stop and caught a couple more just jerking it 2x and let it rest repeat. Then for the heck of it i put on a storm swimbait caalled the walleye and it caught me 1 fish which was my biggest at 4lb. I tried a frog for an hour in the pads and had 2 very weak hits maybe even sunfish and then tried spooks with no hits. We also went out fishing july 3rd and it was super hot and wind into our face from the bank at 25 to 30 gusts, jet skis and boats made waves worse crashing over my shoes. I had bad day as i was running around trying all different lures and caught 1 dink and 1 northern. Wife caught a 5lb and a 4 lb along with 4 dinks all while patiently sitting in her favorite spot and casting out tr yum senko in copper crush and working it in her secret fashion which she ummm taught me on tusday so when i caught all those bass tuesday she now claims its because she taught me how to fish the texas rig to catch fish. I will go along with her on this one because if she did teach me 1 thing its to be more patient and let it sit a few seconds more than i usually do.
  23. I was a field mechanc driving a large service truck repairing heavy equipment, during my lunch break several years ago my elbow was in such horrific pain i drove to the workers comp clinic. The dr checked out my elbow, didnt x-ray it just maniulated it and then told me i had golphers elbow and said to use my opposite arm for heavy torqueing and try to rest it. He seemed to not want to help me or give me guidance on what to do for the pain, i think he thought i was joking. 2 weeks later i had elbow surgery where they had to reattach the tendon to the bone. I didnt even claim it as a workers injury on the job because if i did i would have spent weeks going to therapy and light duty or sent home to collect a tiny comp check. Before ya know it it would have been months later before they would have given me an mri and then surgery if that. I have seen it happen to other guys at the shop and they eventually dissapear staying at home and eventually getting let go. What i did was go to my own private health insurance, seen my own specialist, told him i hurt it doing recreational activities and please can we fix it asap because i will lose my job if i am out of work for more than a couple weeks. Well i got into surgery within a week and 2 weeks later i was at work doing light duty and after 3 weeks i was out in the field again.
  24. ok then try this, just put the chatterbait away and move on to something else like bowling?
