  1. The last bass i ate in 2021 changed my bass fishing fever to this day. While eating the bass i couldnt stop thinking about how i wasnt fond of eating bass and kept visualizing all the bass i caught and considered them a sporting fish, catch and release and not a fish that i want to eat. So we stopped eating bass and turned ourselves into walleye and panfish anglers. We still catch bass while we use real minnows for the walleye and i enjoy catching the bigger bass but the days of targeting only bass are over.
  2. 0.0, i use what i got and i catch a variety of fish from the bank at river dams and lake shores, i get extremely lucky with big unusual catches when i sit in my chair and have no care just glad to be breathing gods clean fresh air.
  3. Yep, no ar switch which i use quite often during fishing, i have to find a good brand with ar switch other than my favorite pfluegers if ever in need of a new reel.
  4. 832 in yellow on my favorite rod and reel, still have green 832 on a couple reels and will probably last forever.
  5. Wife and i went to detroit lakes minn this thursday with a scoop of live minnows. It was cold, windy, dreary 48 degrees and rained on us all day from 3:30pm to midnite when we arrived home. I wore my frog togg rain suit and was dry except for my feet and hands, i was to lazy to put on rubber boots. The bass were insane, we were fishing for crappie using 1/8 oz furry black bug looking ballhead jig tipped with a minnow and using slip bobbers. The bigger bass have moved into the shallows now and were extremelly easy to catch on the bug jig, surprisinly with the very small hook along with a nose hooked minnow all the bass i caught were perfectly hooked through the mouth, some were jumping out of the water and that bug jig being so light there was no chance it was gonna get tossed. Also i was using my new 5 6" berkley cherrywood light rod and it made for an exciting fun catch and land. The bass were active all day but the crappie bite didnt start till 8:15 pm.
  6. I use 1/16 thru 3/8 oz ballhead jigs with 20, 30 lb braid and like the fact that i can bend the hook on them to get out of wood caught snags. I bend he hook back straight and keep fishin.
  7. Live or dead minnow on a ballhead jig with a slip bobber because it allows me to catch all species of fish as i get bored with just bass and i want to take fish home to eat like walleye and panfish not bass. Also allows me to be lazy and sit in my chair and not exert myself throwin lures a thousand times.
  8. With this non stop rain here in fargo nd and into minnesota with all the low lying areas full of water including my back yard its going to be a mosquito fest like we havnt seen in a few years.
  9. Great adventure with what you explained plus great exercise.
  10. What, nobody here collects playboy, hustler, penthouse? some have great fishing articles.
  11. Only the manufacturers know what gets put into our food, read the labels and i have to google the names of ingrediants. The parmasean cheese i buy has ground up wood pulp, its becoming more pulp than cheese, i can make a 2x4 out of my turds.
  12. I bet they called you robo ump🙃
  13. Well i didnt buy the diawa sweepfire, it was exactly as advertised, an ultra light 5ft 6in and it was just to ultra for what i catch when panfishing. I did buy a berkey cherrywood, this one is a medium light 6ft 6" two piece on sale for $19.99. I stood in fleetfarm comparing different brands, bending the tips side by side lookin for the slowest tip. I own a cherrywood 7ft medium which is a 1 piece and it has been my main rod for 2 years and held up and performs great for all species of fish, even 57 inch muskies in the river. So i thought for reliability, durability and price i cant go wrong. what a kool lookin bike with the fishin rod stow pack and your front pack, what an economical way to fish.
  14. Your mud bass looks like what we in minnesota call a rock bass.
  15. Fished the last 2 weeks in detroit lakes minn area for crappie using braid #20 to a #12 mono leader only because thats the mono i had laying around other than #30 fluoro. Tied to a 1/32, 1/16 and 1/8 jigs tipped with a minnow and using slip bobber and they munched out no problems.
  16. After 2 years of overuse on bass and river snags my Shakesphere Micro series 7ft rod broke from using it for fish other than micro, such as 3lb bass in the river current and trying to pop out snags, i allready replaced the tip 2 years ago. I am going to fleetfarm sunday to replace it with a $19.99 rod from Daiwa called the Sweepfire series, 5ft 6" ultra light fiberglass. Strictly for panfish unless of course i get bass which is 100% going to happen along with catfish......😁
  17. At 3am i am on a potty break and then back to bed, at 4am i am in REM sleep.
  18. I understand i am playing russian roulette, i am going to hold off for a while longer. Thanks for the info.
  19. I have a hernia just a couple of inches up and to my right of my personal pole, it is extremely noticable, dr said i should take care of it, that was 2 years ago but it doesnt hurt unless i press on it. Doc said if it lets loose it is extremely painful, i do squats and deadlifts so i may be taking a big risk by holding off.
  20. I put my unused minnows in vodka and into the freezer they go, when i use them next time they smell of vodka which hasnt stopped the fish from devouring them.
  21. Kool vid, all woman doing assy, hope they get paid well. The assy job i would not want to do is the ring and hook attachment.
  22. When willow trees drop there willows into the water and it gets tangled in your line every retrieve.
  23. Wife and i now solely fish for consumption, we dont eat bass, only walleye and panfish. We went crappie fishing last week and the by product was catching lots of bass which was fun untill it wasnt.
  24. We went lake bank fishing yesterday for crappie and yes we caught our limit just sitting in our chairs never having to move all day. All was great especially in the afternoon when they stopped biting i went for a 45 minute walk up the steep winding road along the lake and came back and sat in my chair and started fishin again. Instead of snacking on graham crackers i snacked on plain saltine crackers. I am getting away from alot of free weights training and do alot more stretching and yoga stuff. I am really strengthing my core doing birddogs, side planks, russian twists, dead lifts, squats , leg scissors, clams, bridges. One of the first things i do for a morning stretch is i hang by my hands with my feet off the ground for a couple minutes. Then i really stretch out the hips and my glutes doing 5 different stretches. The best thing is none of this needs any gym equipment.
  25. Ummmm oh yeah, live flathead minnows. i am goin crappie fishin in detroit lakes wed, is it catch and release for bass right now or still off limits to throw bass lures?
