  1. O"s beat toronto 6-2. Kyle Gibson goes 7 and gives up 1 run. Mountcastle, Santander, and Frazier go yard.
  2. Thats what it was here thursday, cold and windy but the fish were biting.
  3. went to fleetfarm today the 19th. They have a 40% off on all northland tackle so i bought 4 packs of mimic minnows, 2 per pack. Regular $4.19 now $2.50 a pack. Also 832 braid on sale, the rack is overflowing with 832.
  4. I used it 2 years ago and it worked fine. A year later i used it again and it wouldnt hold the plastic together so i threw it out and went back to using super glue.
  5. The weather looks as cold as i was thursday. Did you keep the walleye or did dad take it?
  6. A mimic minnow by northland. Throwing it into the current and letting it tumble over the river boulders and rocks feeling every rock it bangs into and when it gets downstream reel it in and what you thought earlier was just another boulder hit was actually a fish hit and catch. Using this techniqe takes a bit of patience, you must let the mimic minnow tumble down the boulders untill you think it has gone far enough and thats when you find out you have a fish or sometimes the fish will run with it right away and then you instantly know fish on. This current is fast and the fish are behind those boulders waiting for food.
  7. Went to Fergus Falls Minn yesterday to Orwell dam. No minnows today just gulp live and lures. Wife caught a smallie on a crank bait 3rd cast so i remembered on this forum we were talking about lizzards so i texas rigged a lizzard. Used a 3ewg hook with 5/8oz unpegged weight and casted out into the current break. I very slowly crawled the lizzard in and got hit and I was shocked that i caught a walleye on the lizzard. The rest of the day i decided to use a Northland Mimic minnow and throw it right into the heavy current and letting it tumble and bounce off the rocks and i ended up catching a handfull of small smallies a couple more walleye and a catfish. The other fisherman around me were throwing ballhead jigs with minnows but the Mimic minnow held its own against live bait and i will be buying some more for sure. The weather was 62, dreary and 30 mph gusts of steady wind. I was actually very cold and had to bundle up.
  8. O"s on the win side tonight. Bradish with the win and Mountain man for the save.
  9. O"s back in the win column. Dean Kremer goes 5 2/3 innings for the win. Mountcastle puts the game away with a 2 run bomb.
  10. I bought a tip kit at scheels last year and the glue stick is actually hard wax and glue. You melt it into the hollow of the new tip and stick it on. Rod performs fine as i only lost a 1/4 inch of tip.
  11. Same with me, had to have 3 ploppers. One for the wife and 2 for me. I did catch bass and pike with them and then after a dry spell i put them away and stole the hooks from 2 of them.
  12. Tyler Wells goes 7, Cano takes the 8th and Mountain man saves the game allowing 1 hit with 3 strikeouts. Anthony Santander came up huge with an over the fence snowcone catch.
  13. O"s win 6-3. Mullins hits for the cycle. Mountain man Bautista strikes out the side in the 9th for the save.
  14. Visited a favorite fishing lake lake yesterday. The lake next to it, right across the road from it and connected by a large culvert had a bad winter kill. There are massive amounts of dead crappie, blugill, bass floating and washed up in the shoreline. A fellow i talked to said the snow was so deep on the lake that the sunlight coudnt penetrate through and killed the weeds and the fish died of lack of oxygen. He told me he went out to ice fish the lake and when he drilled his hole dead floating crappie came up through. He mentioned a few lakes around the detroit lakes area in minnesota got killed out due to heavy snow.

  15. Low shelf, right next to the floor mop. When i buy minnows and at the end of the day if i have a bunch left i bring them home, drain all water out and put them in a baggie, put the baggie into a small container then fill the baggie up just enough to cover the minnows then put into the freezer. Then next time i go fishing i grab the container and put it into my cooler and when arriving at the fishing hole take them out and use. The alchohol doesnt freeze the tissue of the minnow and they are still pretty sturdy to put on a hook. I am not sure if the strong vodka smell actually attracts fish but hey ya never know.
  16. Wife and I went to detroit lakes minn area and scored a few bass using my vodka preserved frozen minnows and cleaned up the crappie. I have used below freezing windshield washer solution before and it works just as well and much cheaper. The only difference is the minnows turn blueish and with the vodka you get a nice strong alchohol smell. I was using my shakesphere micro series rod along with a size 2000 pflueger president spinning reel rigged with a slip bobber and used the same pink hair jig topped off with the vodka minnow all day.
