  1. White snd trees leaning into the Chanel show the Chanel or you can find it with a heavy jig trees higher than those around them indicate a hump
  2. Thanks also helpful is a low gear ratio reel it’s impossible to fish a high gear ratio reel super slow
  3. In winter bass are usually suspended over creeks or on the edges of flats close to creeks or deeper water, usually bright sunny days they suspend up and feed. A good method for locating the fish and the depth the fish are holding is to use a countdown lure. I like to use a 1/16 or 1/8 maribou jig as a count down, fish the water column until you get a strike, then fish the area at that depth with a jerk bait, rapala’s usually, original, 1 to 4 ft. deep diver, 4 to 8 ft. and countdown rapala if there more than 8 feet deep, no I don’t consider a rapala to be a crankbait so don’t go there, then find other creeks on the lake with similar depths and there will likely be fish! This is not my method but comes from Billy and Bobby Murray and Al and Ron Lindner! One of them won the classic do they must be smart! Right! gadgets graphs can spook fish especially if there shallow, study a map before you go to find likely areas then the trees will indicate the Chanel’s
  4. I know it’s not summer but thinking of grass and pads do you every have success on a 6 or 8 inch white ribbon tail weightless fished on top, bill norman used to make a snatrix very similar but a ribbon tail or zoom c tail will work

  6. Does anyone remember the name of a weedless lure that had a skirt, a body and a up turned metal lip that wobbled back and forth? Something like a whirlybird?

  13. More power to ya! kids don’t bother me Maybe Your right it’s more about being a macho he man and being seen than about catching fish i don’t need a corvette to go to 7-11
  14. Not trolling I don’t care what anyone thinks or if they never reply I have a right to my opinions and experiences don’t like videos where they stand up and fish either no chair on the deck any video with baitcasting is like fingernails on a chalkboard Too many wasted hours picking out backlashes anti-reverse did not help much
  15. I’ll try anything once
  16. How is lime green fishing rod an improvement?
  17. What is that sci fi line I seen in videos that seems to float in the air I’ve tried most ways but just prefer old 5’5” spinning outfits light line and small lures for example I was right there when the flipping craze hit and most other crazes too was one the first to fish tube worms and jig n pig far more success on sissy fishing than all else put together of course my idea of success is not dragging a 10 pound log to the boat, been there done that, much more prefer catching small bass on every cast and enjoy playing them
  18. Pretty close to it no most pads I’ve fished are sparse or have lanes and edges never did the punch thing that’s usually a jig presentation I rarely fish a jig n pig
  19. Old school tackle is still available st. Croix has black graphite 5’5” medium action fast top spinning outfit
  20. I don’t want to be negative but it does not seem like improvements to me, I prefer simple equipment simple methods and fun fun fun till her daddy took her beetle spin away
  21. Don’t understand all this modern tackle! dont know how you can fish such long rods? dont know how you fish braid? when I was a kid in the late 60’s we had braid on baitcasters you could not even cast 20 feet. leaders? Only fly fishing I thought sci fi lines? Co this and co2 that? how do you keep up with all this jazz is fishing and art or a science? fun or work? one rod for everything, now you gotta have 10 special specific rods white rods? fluorescent orange? lime green? really, race car painted boats and race driver clothing this is really getting ridiculous my grandfather fished in a business suit, some ole timers wore coveralls, my dad fished in green shorts black socks dress shoes and a golf shirt, in the 80’s we wore a white cotton short sleeve shirt with fishing patches all over it. never would fish an Alabama Rig? Or Carolina rigs? baitcasting backlash city? Or are the new sci fi reels solving that too? i only fish 5 to 6 foot spinning rods that are black graphite spinning reels that can be back used with winding 4 to 8 lb clear blue stren mono free country more power to ya, I’ll stay old school, works for me!
  22. Ya sorry I meant you, thanks i was looking a a map there are a lot of places where the river Chanel comes very close to the Texas side bank? has that ever produced for you
