  1. Anybody have any experience with this rod? Was considering this or a few others (Dobyns Kaden/Daiwa Tatula/ or maybe Falcon. Really like the full cork handle for flipping and pitchin. Mainly be used with 1/4-1/2oz trigs and 3/8-1/2oz jigs. TIA
  2. I have not bought one yet, hoping to buy one pretty soon though! And I appreciate that
  3. Appreciate it! How much he want for that 744 lol
  4. For those of you who usedDobyns rods, I’m looking into purchasing one for Texas rigs and jigs. I’m torn between the Kaden and Sierra series but I’m a huge fan of the full cork handles and would prefer those over split grip but just looking for a little insight and some opinions from those of you have used them. The Kaden flipping stick is very intriguing.
  5. They were some awesome rods for sure and very enjoyable to fish with! I’m hoping I’ll come across some one day!
  6. Appreciate all the feedback, sorry for the late response been busy with work. Like I stated earlier, I used them a lot growing up as a kid. The WR2 and the Shimano Curado bantam (old green one) was one of my favorite combos for pitching Texas rigged plastics. I understand there are obviously better rods being made today, was just curious if people were still using them. I wouldn’t mind having one myself they just seem hard to come by. I loved the full cork handles, and obviously the fact that they were made in Houston, Texas since I’m from that area. Seems like the rod building industry is going away from full cork handles, except for a few companies but I’m hoping I can find something similar to what I used growing up fishing. Thanks for all the feedback.
  7. Does anyone still have any AllStar Rods from the 90’s? I’m talking about the ones made in Houston, Texas. Fished with them growing up, and been on the hunt to find some.
  8. Yeah I realize that.. was just trying to figure out if there was any place in particular that’s better than the rest. Appreciate the feedback, any luck with the old school brown rubber? I’ve seen your website and big fan of your work. I’m just looking to start buying and building my own in bulk, can’t really find what I’m looking for on the market.
  9. Looking to start making my own jigs, found some jig heads i can buy in bulk.. just looking for some insight on where y’all are getting y’all’s skirt material. Really like the old school brown color, I know it’s hard to find these days but any advice or insight would help.
  10. Has anybody ever used Duce Rods? If so, how did you like the spiral wrapped guides and the performance of the rods overall?
  11. Appreciate it all the input. I think a manual shallow water anchor is gonna be my best option.
  12. Yeah been considering building a bracket and mounting it the back or front of the boat and using a stake. Seems like the cheapest and most efficient option
  13. Just bought a new 16ft aluminum boat, trying to figure out what trolling motor to mount on it. I’m used to the foot controlled/cable steer, I have a 12v 45lb thrust edge I could mount on it but was thinking about upgrading to one with i pilot. I can’t see myself using the remote/electric steer but am considering trying to learn if it’d be worth it. Was also thinking about just making my own anchoring system or purchasing the micro anchor power pole. I fish shallow a lot, marshes, bayous, and rivers and I like being able to sit in one spot and cover an area thoroughly. Just trying to figure out what would be my best option. (If I could afford on ultrexx I would get it)
  14. Me and a buddy caught em pretty good Saturday before last. Probably caught 15 fish, most of them around 12-14inches with a few 2lbers and *** 1/2lber. Bites been kind of slow, most likely due to the cold weather but I’ll be on the river again this weekend. Hopefully with better results!
  15. That sucks, I fish north of i-10 some but mostly south. Mainly because it’s more convenient and quicker to launch the boat. 2 min drive to the launch from where I live Solid day!
  16. Same, I’ve mainly been on the south side of I-10 here lately. Been very slow. Gonna try and get out this weekend though
  17. Anybody had any luck here recently on the Sabine?
  18. Greg Hackney or Jason Christie.
  19. If you’re looking for a good rod under $100 I would check out the Falcon HD series. $70 Rod Fuji Guides and Reel Seat Full Cork Handles
  20. Yeah that Castaway in the picture is one of the new Skeleton Nano rods. I purchased it a couple months back, haven’t used it much so can’t really comment on the performance yet. I use to own a telescopic Castaway flipping stick and it unfortunately broke flipping mats. Curious to see how this new one is gonna hold up!
  21. These have a plastic butt cap! I’m just used to seeing the classic im10x series with made in Houston stamped on em! These don’t have made in USA or Houston anywhere on the rod, but I assumed they were!
  22. The other is just a ZoomZ Craw in green pumpkin
  23. I’ve used the All Star Classic Series, like many others have stated the WR1 and WR2 rods were some of my favorite. Hard to find those anymore. I don’t believe these were made in Houston like those. That being said, they’re not bad rods but was considering parting ways and upgrading.. thanks for the input everyone. That is a Zoom Ultravibe Speed Craw in Summer Craw I believe, one of my favorites
  24. Anybody know anything about the All Star GT40X series of rods? Had them for awhile. Believe their Carolina Rig rods but I’ve mainly used them for pitching Texas rigs and jigs. Just wondering if they were made in the USA and if anybody had any information on them.
  25. The bite is gonna be different just about every time you go out! Sometimes they’re aggressive sometimes they’re not! Figuring out how to catch em on a jig can be challenging but to me, worth the reward! there’s nothing better than pitching a jig into cover and seeing your line swim off!
