  1. Okuma has a new line called the voyager rod. They look very promising. Good components for the cost. Although you won’t find any feedback on them. Okuma isn’t very popular and the rods just came out.
  2. Been eying these ever since they were announced. Even had one on back order then cancelled because it kept getting pushed back. Seems like a great price/value. Which model did you get? Looking forward to hearing about it.
  3. Wanted this and the triple illusion but wasn't able to snag either one. Very Nice looking bait
  4. Just picked up a NRX842s over the holiday. Got it as an all around spinning setup. I am aware the rod is designed to be used with jigs and soft plastics. For people who have experience with this rod how accurate is the 1/8 oz to 3/8 oz rating? What is the sweet spot for the rod? What techniques and lures/baits is it ideal for and what is it capable of? I was planning on using it for small finesse swim baits, weightless soft plastics, jika rigs, and maybe heavy ned rigs or shaky heads. I should note I was also considering using it for finesse jigs but have 0 experience with jigs and am completely baffled by the array of variations plus trailers.
  5. Ended up getting a loomis NRX 842 spinning and a megabass otomat on sale and went well under my budget my only concern is the 842 might be too light and the otomat too slow in the action for these two to cover the wide range of baits I want to use
  6. Sweet I was actually just looking at these. Any recommendation for a casting rod to pair with it in lieu of the megabass
  7. Nov 15, 2020 12:20 pm I figured with black friday coming up it would be the perfect time to purchase my first couple higher end rod/reels. I'm a bank/kayak angler and currently own 6 bass specific combos with most of my rods and reels falling around the $100 price point. However I'm not completely in love with any of my gear. I find myself taking 2 combos with me most of the time with my maximum being 3. So I decided I want to try and get 2 high end versatile rods, one spinning and one baitcaster and try to stick to those two combos for all of my fishing. I am only 5'8 and have a preference for shorter rods and cork but both of those things are negotiable. My budget is around $500 per rod. I mostly use walking topwaters, popmax, vision 110, weightless plastics, shakyhead, jika rig, square bills and lipless cranks, soft plastic swim baits (keitech, spark shad etc.) and small hardbody swim baits(less than 1 ounce) I think I've pretty well got my baitcaster narrowed down to the megabass p5 destroyer cyclone. Haven't got a reel picked out yet but I'm leaning towards the steez SV TW. However I am still completely undecided on what spinning rig to pair with this to achieve the greatest versatility. I've looked at numerous offerings from megabass, shimano and daiwa online. Not sure if I should go with a medium light spinning rod or medium. The steez ags looks appealing with it's wide weight range but is pushing the budget.
  8. Does anyone know if anywhere does sales on megabass?
  9. Just recently picked up a Daiwa Tatula SV TWS on sale for $100 and it casts like a dream. However I don't currently have a rod to pair it with. Looking for a final rod to round out my collection. I was thinking of a medium casting in the 6'6" to 6'10" range to use for topwater, walking baits, poppers, ploppers etc. but I'm open to suggestions for a good rod to round out the collection. My budget is around $200. Currently I have: Shimano SLX glass 7' MM w/ 6:3:1 SLX Shimano SLX MH 7' fast w/ 7:1:1 SLX Dobyns Fury 703sf 7' medium spinning w/ Daiwa Tatula LT 3000 Lews Custom Pro 6'10 ML spinning w/ Okuma RTX 25 Daiwa AirdX 7' Heavy w/ 7.5:1 lews superduty G speed spool
  10. How do you rig the senko when using this technique? I beleive that was never mentioned in the original post.
