  1. Megabass IXI furious 0.5 OSP Blitz SSR
  2. Depends on what swimbait and what rod/reel but I'd say 16-20 LB, retie very often.
  3. Has anyone tried fishing with a swollen RES? Wonder what kind of action theyd have and if theres risk of it blowing up
  4. Most bass rods I prefer a 2500 size reel but since you are talking about a medium heavy spinning rod I would go with a 3000 size shallow spool with 1.5 gou braid to 8-10lb fluoro leader
  5. Nice fish! that spot looks familiar
  6. That is one fun looking boat, wish they were a little more affordable. Always wanted a RIB.
  7. What is the viper head you describe shaped like?
  8. Alot of the JDM shops offer free shipping over a certain threshold. I usually just wait until I need enough tackle to hit the threshold before I order.
  9. Looking over the replies it looks like a lot of people missed the part where you said you didn't want creature bait suggestions. I'm assuming this means you want something with a baitfish profile. There are lots of paddletails on the market but they all are very similar so I'm not sure you will find much of a difference or improvement going to a paddletail other than what you have been using. However I have a couple suggestions that will give you a different action but in the same profile. Imakatsu 3" Huddle Swimmer- small profile soft pIastic baitfish with the same tail as the fullsize huddle swimmer Imakatsu Fat Fly Elastomer(2.8")- Similar tail design but different profile and buoyant because of the elastomer, this will give you a different action and allow you to retrieve it significantly slower without it sinking to the bottom Issei 3" Liar minnow- Jointed soft plastic baitfish with a subtle action and a tail that can be modified to have a completely different more erratic action You can find all of these from thehookuptackle but they can be had for significantly less if you order them directly from japan
  10. Hmmm, lets see. I would like to get two new kayaks this year. Want a new frog rod/heavy junk rod, a light ultra finesse spinning rod for sub 5G presentations. Evergreen kaleido spiderspin. One of the new daiwa certates. I've kind of lost interest in hardbaits for the time being. So as far as lures go mostly softbaits/terminal tackle. I want to get my jig/trailer setup dialed in and want to start learning chatterbaits so different chatterbaits and trailers. I also started BFS recently so would like to try some various BFS worthy baits. Would also like to get a high end ultralight for crappie/creek smallies before the spawn starts.
  11. I've never been able to get a bass on a spoon
  12. Weightless 5" senkos, and other weightless plastics that are harder to cast on a medium heavy, also a perfect rod for soft plastic jerkbaits
  13. Post pictures of your first bass this year and what you caught it on, if you dont have pictures just tell us about it. Heres mine, caught it on OSP maxsalt dice rubber on a size 2 owner mosquito light hook fished weightless
  14. What lure/presentation are going to go with under these conditions? Clear water, sunny, post frontal, 50 degree water temperature, no wind. Fishing from the shore, mostly rock/mud bottom, shallow to steep drop off some brush. My usual spot has been this way a lot lately and I am not sure what to fish. I've had some success in the past fishing small weightless plastics or ned rigs but want to try something different. There were numerous monsters swimming around in the shallows just before sunset tonight in 2-3' water.
  15. I think hes talking about the new steez which hasn't been sold yet to my knowledge. It actually has a 32MM spool. Not sure about frame size as it is actually a new frame.
  16. I am a kayak fisher that lives at lake of the ozarks. Feel free to PM me with any questions.
  17. Water temp was right around 60 degrees. It was in the 80s all last week and water was crystal clear. We got hit by a cold snap and water visibility was less than 1'. I let it hit bottom, dragged it then hopped it over cover whenever I hit it.
  18. Caught my first jig fish tonight and it also happened to be my PB. I didn't have a scale but I think it was between 4-5lbs. I know for most people that isn't huge but I was super excited. Don't have any fishing friends and wanted somewhere to share my catch. The feeling of the jig bite was so much better than getting bit on a moving bait! It was a 1/4OZ keitech finesse football with a 3" hazedong shad as trailer btw. That combination happened to be pure luck because it is all I had left in my bag. Also just want to say I usually don't let fish touch the ground and get them back in the water as fast as possible but I really wanted a picture of this one as a reference.
  19. Read the replies here, used my nogging, looked through my tacklebox and went back tonight. Water was super clear, clearest I have ever seen it on this lake. So I took a semi transparent silent pointer 95 out and was able to get several to commit and still getting some bumps. Landed a couple dinks then started experimenting with my retrieve. As soon as I started using a very aggressive fast retrieve I got a nice hit from probably a 3 LBER but wasn't able to land it. Then immediately got the bait snagged and lost it on the next cast. On one hand it was kind of disappointing because I was THIS close to getting the puzzle solved before losing the only bait I had. On the other hand, I feel like I learned a little something and became a better angler.
  20. Went out to my usual bank fishing spot tonight after work for about an hour and a half. I was throwing a megabass Z1 crank(only setup I had at the time). There were fish visibly swimming around the area. I had several fish bump my lure but not really commit to it. They would follow it all the way back to the bank, lightly nudge it and then swim off. I have never seen this hapen before with such frequency. What causes the bass to react this way? I tried varying my retrieve to see if I could entice them but same reaction no matter what. They seemed to prefer faster retrieve. If you are in this situation what other lure would you follow up with to try and get a good bite? Normally I would just downsize but the Z1 crank is about as small as they get.
  21. I will definitely have to try out a swinghead, never hear much about them especially this time of year. The shallow bite around here has been practically non existent. Too snaggy to run crankbaits when bank fishing round these parts. What trailers do you all like for the swinghead?
  22. Are there any deep water/bottom contact techniques that can cover water quickly? Or are bottom contact baits inherently slow by design? I know deep diving cranks would fit that mold however they aren't exactly viable for the kind of fishing I do.
  23. Thehookuptackle on youtube has an entire video on how to rig the bullflat different ways, definitely worth watching
  24. Price drop on target sniper to $325 shipped
  25. Toyed around with the slip shot rig you showed me for a bit before it got too cold to fish. Saw this afterwards and thought it looked like it may be a great bait for the rig. Its on my list as well
