  2. my brother and I are doing a road trip from san diego,ca though texas and the southern states, up to Niagara falls then though the midwest home. my question is we are looking at toledo bend state park for a couple nights, and was wondering if the shore fishing in that area is possible. i would not be towing my boat , but planning on hiring a guide a few times along the way. if anyone is out in my neck of the woods, hit me up to fish the so cal lakes. be glad to take ya out for the day.
  3. when is comes to professional fishing, boring drop shot fishing maybe what it takes to get that limit in the boat. no doubt boring , grinding fishing, my hat is off to these guys. To make a living fishing these tournaments has to be very hard. The travel, Away from family , some sleeping in campers , bunking up in hotels to share costs. miles on the road , break downs. the money they make looks like a lot goes back into travel etc., its not all free boats and trucks. it seems that video game fishing is here. i like the old school reading water, reading the bank. fishing structure. but i dont make any money fishing, only spending money fishing.
  4. what's the best type trap for gophers, there in my lawn, going crazy. ive caught them in the past ,this year there are many more. have used bait , but would rather trap them.

  6. my vote is California as well. rural areas aren't that pricey, southern California has DVL, the San diego lakes, all a few miles apart. trips to clear lake in the van , would make a nice vacation, theres a casino for the wife. trips to the redwoods aren't far, and there are rivers for salmon and steelhead. trips to the sierras during summer for a mountain get away, it has it all. what others pay for heating and cooling equals the differents in property costs.
  7. You and I sound like twins. I to didnt have tons of money growing up, I have worked hard ,never missed work. But never want overtime, that was for things I liked to do. I have bought very nice things and were afraid ,they would be damaged ,so I use middle of the road things. Now I'm retired, very comfortable. But still dont waste money . Point is if it's to good to use, I dont buy it anymore, I know my self, I use it and dont look back, I wanted a yeti cooler, so I bought one. Took it dove hunting in yuma,az and someone stole it out of the shell in the truck, so now I'm ticked and say to my self , if you had a Coleman it would still be there. People steal expensive things too. Try to enjoy things , Tight lines
  8. a nail weight , put in the head of a bait. fluke ,worm .
  9. its the Indian not the arrow. same with hitting a baseball, you can use the bat Tony Gwynn used, chances are slim you will hit like he did. its time on the water, and learning were big fish live. crawdads don't hurt. tight lines
