retirement is different for everyone, when i hear media outlets talk about what is needed to retire i laugh. i retired 9 yrs ago, at 55 yrs old. and very glad i did. one thing is for sure , having a hobby like fishing is fantastic , a sport that doesnt require others to do. exercise, eating good, and the freedom gives you a peaceful life. i bought a new boat knowing that i needed to stay busy. i have a old ,but well cared for travel trailer for trips in the mountains. if you have a simple life it doesn't really take that much. health care was the biggest thing, and my wife received it with her retirement from the hospital she worked. It goes fast boys, the older you get the less you need and can do. Dont wait too long, pay off your home. the rest will take care of it self. tight lines

I did just recently , a couple young guys looking for work took down a pecan tree . great job and good price. I run off the solar guys daily.

The 1980's and 90's, tons of big fish, I'm not a biologist, and the city no longer has one. We had a great one. Dont know if catch and release has changed the big fish ability to thrive. To many small fish competing for food. I have caught presently a few 8-9 lbers. The crappie population has dropped substantially . People would drive from LA to crappie fish el cap. The fishing style has changed as well, beating the bank now, it was anchor and fish offshore structure with large baits. Fewer bites but better fish. Tom, (wrb) could be more helpful as to the big fish. I'm sure he has seen a change.

The reel ess, The 20 lb has have went the way of the dinosaur , I fish the San Diego lakes weekly, 10 lber is few and far between. The lakes are no longer managed, no longer are trout stocked. We have had low water conditions for many years. Live bait is limited, waterdogs were legal then to. A hunting and fishing license is 200.00 without a big game tag. That's why tennesee folks have lots of new neighbors. Tennessee is a great place , dont let them change that.

be patience, the way the economy is going you might find someone to take over payments. people buy too much expensive stuff on loans. then to save there home they sell.

Thats is what we need, a yearly pass. I'm lucky its 13 miles to the lake, most guys drive 25 plus. our fees went from 8.00 permit and 7.00 launch, i think thats why people are moving away, and our fishing license sales have dropped 60 percent. thank you , for the reply.

With the increases in fuel, and in my case lake fees for launching and a day permit. 11.00 launch 11.00 adult permit, 2 gallons of fuel for truck, 2 gallons for boat, 6.59 and 5.59 Bait- plastics what ever, looks like a fifty dollar bill. Is this average, or high. It doesnt matter, I just did the math after the city raised fees.

i wear xtratuff short boot, they don't breathe very well, as rubber shoes, try a pair of slip on vans. throw them in the washer. or chuck taylors.

With the popularity of the sport , willing sponsors, and a field of very talented anglers, it had to expand . they have a dream of making a living fishing, the dream of free boats and new trucks are almost impossible to obtain . maybe 10 guys in the country get this. entry fees are out of this world, fuel prices and lodging and dont forget uncle SAM. Its a tuff way to make a living. it has to be the love of doing this. tight lines my 2 cents

the problem i see is buying a boat from a fisherman or a true boater, is going to be different then buying from the covid impulse boat owner. the gas will be bad, from the novelty wearing off, batteries not maintained , who knows if any service was done. but if the price is right.

i just purchased a st. croix bass x 6'8" m xf , while waiting for a warranty replacement rod. to throw a small pointer jerk bait, i wanted something with a short handle. The rod i broke was a tournment legend M xf. All i can tell you the bass x is a much softer blank. it has caught 100 plus fish this last week. nothing over 3 1/2 lbs I wouldn't want to use it for a senko rod.

Im a pink Ande guy , i fish very clear waters and catch tons of fish with it. very good knot strength, soft , strong and cheap. but I'm a fresh line guy , new fresh line, i cant tell you how many fish i catch with a wacky senko drop shot hook and weight still in the fish. hooks and line being drug around, stomachs of fish with plastics they cant digest. people need to retie nicked up line so the catch rates go up. in the high country lakes they ask you to not fish flourcarbon because it does break down as well as mono. over filled spool is another no no.

i found the same to be true, shorter rods are harder to find. i broke a st croix legend tournament 6'3" spinning rod i used it for throwing small jerk baits, i like the shorter rod for the technic , not slapping the boat or water. i fish it with a lite drag , and mono for stretch, never have a hook pulling issues, with the light wire hooks these bait have. still searching for a replacement, i don't need a extreme for a moving bait rod .

after being retired 5 yrs. , i could not imagine not having my boat, it a true blessing. the costs are all worth it , just make sure you use it. and don't buy something that's not user friendly. easy to load solo, and dependable .

in southern California clear waters, and deep lakes, i target suspending fish alot. I troll lead core and a crankbait, kastmaster, its deadly, but cheating to some. i fish were the fish are. tight lines

tried to add pictures , not able to. trolled leadcore and a rapala j7 , war them out.

Fished early weather is warm and the skiers come out , launched about 6:00 am -11:30 11 fish caught on senkos in the edges of grass . tons of fish suspended , there out resting after making babies.

Maybe reparations will be paid to all offended!!!!! At least its a line in the sand, a number to surpass.

i think GYM is one of the most consistent plastic company i fish. our local guy, pouring hand poured worms, well i buy them because i feel sorry for him. the big companies make very good products. 2 cents

well, the tracker xl classic-- entry model was 9995 now 14995, the 175txw was 14995 now 20,000 what happened was the boat would come standard with a 60 hp --175 model now the standard is a 25hp same with the lowe st175 they came standard 60 -- now 25. boat for boat there way up.

Allen Der, i think your right, here in California there's a refinancing boom, home prices in san diego for new construction is 1.5 -2 million for a poorly built house. old homes built in the 50's are 800-1m on a 50x80 lot, everyones rich .( they think) just like the last disaster that happened, some never learn. they keep robbing the piggy bank.

st croix makes a 7'6" 4-10 ml rod. if you like to flyline small baits, small senkos, small yamamoto grubs, flukes, at breaking fish, this rod is awesome, i have one in the Avid line. i know its longer then you stated, but you will fall in love.

Have any of you been looking at new boat prices, there up 25-50 percent in two years, must be a covid thing. now a tracker after shipping and setup, taxes its a 25,000 boat. for a 60 hp.

new doesn't mean better to me, i like the older stuff better, the classic glx rods when loomis owned them, not shimano. the shimano cumara first generation, blue blank. the phenix mbx 7'6" spinning rod they first came out with i like better then the hypalon now. same with st.croix i have the older legend bass tourment, cork handles . i baby my stuff , if i break them there's nothing to replace them with.
