  1. Not really, but would be cool if I could. Mine does say made in Houston and it does have a solid plastic butt cap.
  2. More or less, I just wanted to see if I could find out where this rod falls in the original American made group. Just seemed odd I could find info on all the others but nothing about this one.
  3. Thanks for the reply. I've found info like you provided, I just couldn't find anything with the exact rod I have. Closest I found a picture of was the AC GT2 7 ES and it didn't say VINTAGE on it. It said AMERICAN CLASSIC in the area mine says VINTAGE. I'm kind of picky about my fishing equipment and this rod still looks like it was wrapped yesterday. Not really looking to sell it. It's one of my favorite rods
  4. Remember that all braids are not equal. 8 strand casts much better than 4 and quieter on the guides too. Daiwa J Braid and Sufix 832 are excellent and I've had some of my best days with no leader. I personally use 20lb Sufix in Coastal Camo color.
  5. New to the site but not new to fishing. I've been using the SDJ offshore for tuna and other pelagics for years and it has never failed me. I find it easiest to tie if I hook the lure to something. When I bring the line back up to make the top loop, I hold the main line and the loop with my thumb and index finger and since the lure is secured I have a free hand and three fingers on the other to wrap the knot. Hard to explain in words but with this method I can tie it in about 10 or 12 seconds.
  6. I picked up this rod in a trade for a cheap $40 surf rod in 2006 and have recently been looking for some information on it but can't find anything. It says made in Houston Texas and the model is ES GT27ES and says VINTAGE on it. I have used it countless times and continue to love this rod. Can anyone tell me anything about it? I've found all kinds of info on these rods but not this particular model. See picture.
