  1. At my store, we have a product called Carolina Floaters. It's basically a kit of foam bullet weights and misc. crig tackle. Never used it, might give it a try.
  2. I fish alone quite a bit. I normally don't feel bothered by it like you seem to... I'm there to fish, and I only need myself to do just that. As for talking to myself, well yeah, I think that I do that. I think that's just our nature. I KNOW that I talk to myself when I'm on fish. Sunday I remember muttering some expletives out loud after a lost a nice one. Anyway, with that said, just get out there and enjoy the peace and quiet and oneness with nature and all that good stuff! Take a buddy when you can. Oh, and radio is a no-no on my boat. (I'm a firm believer that bass don't like Molly Hatchett)
  3. Cast and retrieve. Don't ask me what happens when you feel a bump, still trying to figure that one out.
  4. Please elaborate on the term "works".
  5. I understand the discussion you're provoking, but alas can not begin to articulate my theory regarding it. With that said, I'm sold on Gamakatsu EWG hooks for all plastic applications I use. Only other hook I use is Zoom's Horny Toad hook. Gamakatsu Superline hooks are GREAT. No more straightened hooks while flipping.
  6. Forgot to add the all important- Fish bit a junebug Zoom Superhog/1oz pegged tungsten/Gamakatsu Superline hook 4/0 I really tried for 10, but couldn't buy a bite after 8:45am.
  7. Would this be your first baitcaster? Short answer, yes- Senkos and baitcasters work.
  8. Looks like a solid 4.5 to me... Great job!
  9. On the water @ 5:30am, started throwing toads, picked up 8 fish, mostly between 1-3lbs. As the sun started getting a little higher in the sky, started doing a little flippin' and pulled this little guy out of the bulrushes, weighed 6lbs. Total of 9 fish, not a bad 4 hours.
  10. That's a nice fish. BE PROUD!
  11. Lately, Yamamoto Kreatures.
  12. MUCH better than my day, I only caught one!
  13. http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/producte/10001/-1/10001/243911/0/0/Wench/All_2/mode+matchallpartial/0/0 This one is not bad for the money. I've sold around 5 this year and haven't heard anything bad about them yet.
  14. As many bags of green pumpkin Zoom Horny Toads as $100 allows.
  15. I concur. 8-) Just doesn't make sense to me.
  16. I have to admit it, I hate this wind. I'm pretty lucky, I live very close to a low lying lake, that's pretty protected from the wind. That's where I've been fishing lately. Going to crack of dawn it tomorrow on the big lake, keeping my fingers crossed.
  17. I wear costa del mar hammerheads w/ green mirror wave 580 lenses, retail $239 or something. I tell everyone the same thing, good sunglasses are just as important as any rod/reel combo. There are Costas to be had for $119+, your eyes will thank you for the purchase later in life. Given that you don't lose or break them, they will be the last pair of sunglasses you ever buy.
  18. Personally, I use the G Loomis Frog rod and love it, at your budget, I'd look into the Okumas.
  19. The lowriders are nice rods. We sell many more of them than the originals at my store.
  20. I really prefer a 7' rod for most plastic applications these days, a 6'6" just feels too short. Funny, I remember the days when I used a 5'6"
  21. I've got to get out at night, I've got black horny toads that I've been saving for just the occasion. Looks like a great time was had!
  22. Currently, I'm using an All Star Big Carolina rod for flipping and pitching, 7'6" heavy action rated at 1/4-2 ounces. I'm using an old school green shimano curado spooled with 65lb power pro. Here in FL, just about everything is heavy cover.
