  1. I have had the best luck with a small single tail grub (2.5" or 3" from mister twister). They are easy to find near the crappie baits.
  2. It could be done, but I think you will be disappointed with accuracy and/or distance. I use my 7'2" or 6'10"MH for that stuff.
  3. I don't think so, its a little too stiff, the lightest I go is a 3/8" jig with craw trailer, or if I'm running a Trig with an 1/8 oz sinker it is with a larger heavier worm 12" (ol monster) or full size creature bait.
  4. I have all three of these Exprides, and if I had to pick one all around I would choose the 7'2" Heavy. The 7'3 XXH is pretty stiff I only frog and punch with a big weights with it. The MH is great for smaller T rigs and jigs but not around super heavy cover.

  6. I am bringing all the rods, but the first three I get out most everywhere I go. (Chick river, Pamonkey River, Lake Anna) I adapt from there, I will switch to a T-rig on any of these three depending on how big I want to go. 7'2" Zodias ML - Under-spin with 2.8-3.3 swimbait 6'10" Expride MH- 3/8 oz. Mini max chatterbait or 3/8" compact jig 7'2" Expride H- 1/2" Jig
  7. My buddy has this rod, he uses it to skip 1/2" jigs under docks. From messing with it a little my self I think it would be the best option I have seen for a spinning rod to throw frogs on. With some 40 lb braid I think it would send a 3/8" frog pretty good.
  8. The back half of a Zoom 6" lizard.
  9. Zoom Ol'Monster T-rigged not pegged most of the time.
  10. During the summer months I use Zoom Ol,monster worms in red bug, plum, and plum apple. Occasionally I will use Junebug if I'm in more marshy waters. (clear but dark) My favorite color for anything else soft plastic is watermelon candy, just don't have the confidence in it in a worm.
  11. For smaller hooked jigs I use my 6-10 MHF Expride. For my larger hooked or 1/2" oz jigs I use my 7-2 HF Expride. When I get to my heaver 3/4 oz or heavy wire hooked jigs I use my 7-5 Orrochi Brailest. They double for lots of other options as well, I find them all to be fairly versatile.
  12. What he said..... but the right answer is suffix 832😄
  13. I have the 6-10 Expride and i agree its great for topwater and jerkbaits. I have a Orichi Brailist and its a great rod, but i often reach past it for an Expride. Don't think either would be a mistake though.
  14. Agreed with the purple! I have purple on my jig 98% of the time between the jig or the trailer. Have my best days outside of jigs with purple worms, and some trace of purple on my chatterbaits. Those three things account for over 90% of my fishing.
  15. Another vote for the san diego jam knot with flouro line here. I have a really hard hook set and tend to set on a stump from time to time, rarely if ever do i have a breakage issue. My fishing partner loves the knot that Gerald Swindle talks about, not sure there is an official name for it, but it works great as well.
  16. Gotta agree with WRB. I'm going with a brown/green jig with a watermelon candy Zoom Z-craw jr. Id rather have a shot a a big one and go home skunked, than just get bites.
  17. I have that model in the bass-x and my fishing partner has the mojo bass version. The durability is about what you expect for that price point. They are great for smaller frogs, and dragging a big worm in the summer. I can tell you they both stay in the rack at the house most days. My buddy much prefers his Dobyn's 736 for frogs, or 744 for heavy texas rigs and some jigs. I prefer my Shimano's 7'3" XH for frogs, and 7'2" heavy for texas rigs and jigs. I would say if your looking to spend mid to upper $100 I would look at the Dobyn's Sierra line up, great blanks and $50 no questions asked warranty.
  18. After having tried many Jig rods my line up below is mostly Expride's and I can not be happier with them. With that being said these rods do double duty. I use them for jack hammers, spinner baits, medium size swim baits, etc. What I like about them is having a higher end feel while being fairly versatile. After trying St Croix, Dobyns, IMX pro's, and a couple others it is where I have landed for most of my line up. 7' 2" ML Expride- Micro jigs 7'2" MH Expride- 3/8" finesse jigs 7'2" H Expride- 1/2" finesse jigs, football jigs, 3/8" grass jig around a little bit of grass 7'5" Orrochi Brailist- 3/4" jigs, or around heavier grass of lots of cover.
  19. My fishing partner uses this to skip 3/8 & 1/2 oz jigs under docks. He has had good luck with it.
  20. Wait who is the couyon, you or the OP. Just trying to keep score here. LOL My opinion is color means less than action/presentation, unless we are talking ultra clear or really stained water. Nothing in the wild that looks my redbug and/or plum 12" ol monster worm, but when I drop it in the right brush pile or shake it just right next to a good drop off seems to get hammered.
  21. I fish the 1/8 to 1/4 oz on standard lakes, however I fish a few tidal rivers. When tide is rolling I tend to use 3/8 or 1/2 oz even up shallow due to the water speed. I have even gone up to 3/4 oz when fishing large lizards or 12" worms to get them to fall in the high speed current. As others have said there is a time and place for everything. Good luck out there.
  22. When I was a kid I watched Bill Dance, and Roland Martin on TV and always liked them, I never really looked into tournament fishing then. I took about 15 years off fishing and only got back into it about three years ago. Since then I have appreciated the info I have gotten from watching Matt Allen and Tim Little, but to say I am inspired by any one fisherman. It would have to be Gerald Swindle. His positive outlook and fishing style in general fits my way of fishing. I'm sure there are better fishermen, and ones with a better history to the sport but that's my guy.
  23. I put them on a bare ball head jig 1/8-3/8 oz with 90% of the time being on 1/4 oz. I toss them around lay downs and flats in the shallows. Had some great luck on them when my bigger jig bite is slow.
  24. I am also in the market for these and have been looking at the mustang HIT. How do these far with bigger guys? I wear 3-4XL t- shirt, will they expand large enough to fit the big guys?
  25. My fishing partner has one he uses it for smaller spinner baits and 1/4 - 3/8 ox jig head with a hula grub.
