  1. Lost my fishing day today due to pet health problems but will hit the water tomorrow bright and early to see whats biting. Big ones are feeding as weeds are going away, just got to work the cover and current brakes slow and w/ finesse. We'll see what I get for my work.....got a lot of confidence lures and colors tied on.
  2. So that's what happens to me some days..........it's also what they tell me when tackle packages just disappear on their way to me. I hate that stinkin' time portal vortex ?
  3. How much money are we talkin'? ? I think falcon is worth looking at ..........jason christie and bocoo both in $100 range. Cashion crt if you can stand the color scheme. $119 TW sells both and has reviews.
  4. Looks like Poor Boys Baits DS Darter to me.
  5. Yeah actually it is, I thought with a v bottom it would rock but it doesn't. I like to use the seat cause I'm getting older but the boy likes standing on it. To put it in perspective the back of the casting deck sits on the full width of the forward bench seat. That's where the seat pedestal base is mounted, at that point the boat is still 63"-66" across on sides. 4' at floor. They are pretty nice small fishing boats for two fisherman, cheap to operate and maintain.
  6. I wasn't ready for that...........glad I wasn't eating or drinking ? Seriously you done good and will get a lot of enjoyment out of it.............if you still manage much time on the water....just sayin'
  7. Pin is easy to check, pull prop off and look for damage. Hook power straight to troller cables with 12V and check. Check wires for any visible damage if it didn't have a resettable circuit breaker.
  8. Nice fish I always tend to estimate low looking at them, but a scale takes the guesswork out. Good one and hope more come w/this fall like weather now.
  9. Chunky fish .......seem to be eating well ? Tomorrow is first day out since the rain for couple days. Got 7 rigs ready and waiting.......one is of course a wacky rig. Lotta weedless set-ups for the junk in the water as well as all the breaking off weed mats. Arrowheads died overnight with the cold night we just had. Water temps (low to mid sixties) dropping with upper forty's to low fifty's the new night time norm.
  10. OK here's a couple to see, I have since decided to put the frt. battery under a hatch in the front casting deck. Other than that it has worked out well for son and I, stable and enough room to manuever around netting and casting. Has vertical and horizontal rod holders to hold up to 10 rigs.
  11. Well I've done what You and Ken are doing to a 14' Lowe...... bought bare boat with a floor and motor new and tried to turn it into a small mini bass fishing boat. Took a winter building in everything I felt we would need. These small go almost anywhere boats will allow fishing where larger craft just don't work and will launch anywhere. I carpeted the casting deck/bow close in and seat tops. Floor is vinyl covered, the girt-stones-and mud really track up the carpet during a season of use. It vacuums up but takes a lot of time and is slowly wearing w/use. Sorry now didn't vinyl everything and wipe out with spray cleaner every year. Its worth more now and could upgrade to a little larger boat but there goes that size and and launch advantage. Its a good two person boat and its paid for! Been following progress w/ both of you and find ideas and methods quite interesting. Dave
  12. Good informative posts that answered my question, I now realize that I am primarily a plastic rig fisherman w/ weedless and weighted options as well as tons of swimming plastics to use. Its a very effective method that offers a lot of styles.
  13. Nice pickerel there, I hate what they do to plastics and line but they get a special mention as always willing to hit a lure. Sometimes more than once........Once they hit about 3-4lbs its a fun battle to the boat.
  14. Heres some more excellent info ^ lighter wire hooks make a difference and sharpen them after fishing with them a spell. Hone or file which ever you are confidant with.........
  15. I fish as water temps drop into and thru the sixties with established structure and current breaks, watch for fish activity pushing baitfish schools. Fish along whats left of pad line edges or floating large mats of break free weed masses (can be real productive, floating cover and shade). Our best and most consistent success now is rocky bottom area as the bass feed heavy on crawfish LM and SM both are hitting them hard. The algae is going and washing away now so areas that were choked out are now open and allowing crawfish baits to be seen. We have a stretch we call SM alley, unfishable during summer with algae but now open and producing school size smalley's steady (up to 2 1/2lbs). Larger SM are there but keyed on wood-stickups-logs-and even rock outcroppings that provide ambush spots(larger solitary fish) these are my favorites to go after. They don't move constantly like the schools. Monday and tuesday should be good fishing up here if you can get out. Good Fishing
  16. Thats strange that there is no set size parameters for the reel foot to be made to for various reel seats. I've never hit that problem so far and hope to avoid it.........good luck with what Dobyns suggest's.
  17. That's The Spirit! Good time to be fishing.....
  18. Chicken parts and livers will sure catch em' fished on the bottom. Other large plastics that mimic local shad populations as well as large jointed plugs when they come shallow at night. They were really cleaning up the yellow perch when I left the area. Use heavy tackle they are huge and hard to land sometimes. Good Fishing
  19. FC just works better for me than mono, more abrasion resistant, little less stretch, very low viz whether you care or not ? The diameter for spinning reel use is easy to keep down, good mono works well its just not some fisherman's choice like myself, fished mono a long time but switched and didn't look back. Trying a reel with yo zuri hybrid right now and deciding if it may be a line I want to try. You gotta' try em' for yourself and decide, compare a rig with one type line against another you'll soon start to form your own opinions with on the water day to day results. Don't care what others think, just what results you get.
  20. Its why my sig says Here by Grace......he needs our prayers friends.
  21. I've had some of my best times this year with rage craw's weightless w/ FC line. Cast it over the weeds and buzz it up to plane and bring it back to you with your favorite retrieve style. This can be effective but watch for the strike and be ready.
  22. Necessity is the mother of invention.........we can get real good at adapting when its something we need.
  23. Heavy rain again 1 1/2" so the weather should be off tilt by Saturday. Plan to try it at least, the easiest way now is bottom fishing w/crawfish imitator's or current breaks of any kind along shallow edges 6' or less depth. Fish are coloring up pretty neat w/all the crawfish intake, (iodine seems most likely) Beautiful golds and orange tints. I'm using large baits and they are going for big bites as fall comes on, heck the shad are 4-6" and I've seen some big craw's come outa bass when boated.
  24. And now we know the whole story....Thank You Catt its been an informative thread for me.
  25. I like that just fine weedless and optionally weighted Thingymajigy rig. No I want to remain anonymous and let the Thingymajigy do its stuff. ?
