  1. Water Temps low 60s...been a great two days so far...caught 72 smallies yesterday, Dad had biggest, 3lbs Fishing the dam...Dad and Brother lindy rigging minnows, I'm throwing Ned rig.
  2. Pickstown. Appreciate the words here. I'll post up pics and details on our return.
  3. Brother and I are taking my Dad (80 years old) to Francis Case on Monday. We will be fishing near the d**n. Breaking in Brother's new 18' Lund Alaskan. Thoughts / suggestions on lures? Presentations? Thanks!
  4. Appreciate the advice! I've been using Smugmug for a few years. Happy with their service.
  5. I've got a great accountant, and haven't needed a lawyer just yet. But I know a few. VP at work (day job) contracted me to do headshots for the University. Very cool of him. Not great source of income, but every little bit helps. SR pics are the best ROI...$500 for about three hours worth of work...90 minutes shooting, 30 minutes drive time...hour editing and processing. I don't mess with prints...just one price gets my customers fully edited images in color, black and white, and a "film grain" color. Delivered on USB and DVD for archives. I have a FB add running right now...and posting daily on Instagram. Watched a few Lyndia.com videos on marketing and social marketing. Learning.
  6. I'm 53, been working at University for 30+ years. Started taking pictures of my kids sports 15 years ago. Someone asked me about family pictures...what would it cost? Did a few, made some $$. Cool idea. Created a web site, got an LLC, accountant, state tax ID, and officially started my side business. Quickly turned in to senior pictures / team pictures / family pictures / headshots / a wedding here and there. Word of mouth advertising mainly...it was easy back when my kids were playing sports and in high school...I had to turn people away. Now that the daughters are close to finishing college, and the wife's boys are getting to college age, I have more time to earn some $$ with photography. I've watched a few linked in learning courses on marketing, social media and I'm pretty tech savvy (build my own computers, have taught excel classes, active on facebook, twitter, instagram, snapchat). Senior pictures are my favorite, and have the biggest ROI. What are the biggest challenges when growing a side business like photography? What tips and suggestions would you have for someone in my shoes? Thanks in advance! Daubs
  7. As a dad of two daughters, we fished a lot when they were young. They loved catching panfish behind the house in a little pond. As they grew, got in to sports and we all stopped fishing. My first wife fished a little (and kicked I disagree!), Mrs. Daubs#2 couldn’t care less about fishing...oh, she’s cool with me fishing with my brother Dad and Brother, or buddies. I think it’s the same as hunting...with so many other things to do, fishing and hunting numbers have declined. Now with the pandemic, some of that changed...but I think when things open back up...people will go back.
  8. I started fishing with a belly boat, then to a canoe. It was all we had and we loved it. Got this in 2000. WOW, so much better to be able to stand, sit, move around, tick off the side, run trolling motor with my foot. It is 14’ and can get about any place I need to go. Wife and I have kayaks, she loves taking them out on the lake for exercise. I last about 50-60 minutes, then I’m ready to be done. Hard to sit that long. Kayak is not for me...but I understand some people don’t have the vehicle to tow a boat, or the place to store them. To each his own. My brother just picked up a 18’ Lund Alaskan. It’s a FANTASTIC boat, 112lb Ulterra trolling motor with auto-deploy, spot-lock, all the bells and whistles. It’s a great boat, but it’s really big. Great for my 80 year old dad who has balance issues. Get the bet rig you can afford, and fish the hell out of it!!
