  1. I'm sure you'll be putting in at Tommy's Landing so you'll already be right there to go up river. So your two choices are up the Pearl or down to Pelahatchie Bay. The Bay is loaded full of nice Florida strain Largemouth but they can be difficult to find in the fall unless they are chasing shad. And up the Pearl you'll be looking for the same. Go with a Chrome and Black or Ghost color rattle trap, same colors in a Swimbait, same colors in a soft jerkbait for ledge fishing and look for them on ledges in back waters, natural color frogs in the pads early in the morning and don't rule out a popper or even a buzzbait in the morning. Keep in mind The Rez is shallow so sometimes the slightest ledge will hold a sack of 20 pounds or more.
  2. Yes get one. Best money I've spent in a long time. You've got to play around with the different settings and they work for different situations. I can't count the number of times I've pulled into a fishing area, drop the trolling motor and the shad and bass start blowing up and the other fishermen in the area look at me like what the heck the baitfish and bass haven't showing their heads until this guy pulls in. If it cost twice as much as it does I'd still buy one.
  3. Try Ashe Lake down by Ashe Nursery south of Brooklyn, MS. I fished there a lot as a kid. Nothing big but was loaded with fish and easily bank fished. Of course this was 15 years ago. Also fished the small pond in front of the high school in Brooklyn.
  4. It's worth every penny of the $400.00 price tag. I use it on every fishing trip I go on which is 3-4 times a week but it doesn't work in every situation.
  5. Nice HAT and nice fish. Are you from Mississippi or attend Ole Miss?
  6. I use mine strictly for Carolina Rigging. I think it is an awesome rod for C-rigging. I have it matched up with a Shimano Chronarch and use PLine Halo 12 pound test. Excellent balance and I don't feel the tip is to heavy.
  7. I assumed it was a club tourney. Trying to figure out which one. I am looking to join and fish in one this year.
  8. What tournament series are you guys fishing in?
  9. I just go hammer down. When the bow comes up and onto plane I start raising the motor up with the trim and the jack plate. Bring the trim up until it stops and the jack plate to 4". You might not have a jack plate and probably not a motor that stops itself from trimming to far out so I guess you will have to find that sweet spot. However you can still go hammer down.
  10. I used to fish it on a weekly basis. However I put in on the GA side. I would suggest you go up the Coosa River towards Brushy Branch Creek and even further north. Try all of the mouth creeks coming into the Coosa River and even back into the creeks themselves. There are also several stretches along the lake that are packed full of docks. Check them out. I like Lake Weiss a lot. Have fun and good luck.
  11. Sardi is a good lake as mentioned before. You also have Grenada Lake, Enid Lake and a little lake to the northwest called Puskus Lake off of Hwy. 30. I've been fishing all of them since I was old enough to hold a rod. I don't live in the south anymore but visit as often as I can.
  12. Thanks guys. That really sucks. I might have to start hunting again. Got to do something outdoors during the winter months.
  13. Do the rivers and lakes ice over or do most people just not brave the cold in the winter months? Also does anyone know of a good place to store a boat that is inside and out of the winter elements? Jerrod
  14. Thanks for the replies. I don't think they will let me in the Horsepower restricted lakes unless they will let you unload with the big motor and just use the trolling motor to get around. I have a 2006 Triton TR20X with a Mercury 225. Was definitely going to go up to Lake Erie and check it out.
  15. Well after being out of work since April and sending out hundreds of resumes with little to no response I have finally landed a job with a company in Pittsburgh, PA. So I will be starting my job on January 4th. Going to be looking for a place to live around Canonsburg and will be checking out the fishing come this spring unless some of the locals think it is worth brining my boat up this winter and doing some fishing. Checked out the 3 rivers and that is probably where I will be doing most of my fishing and checked out a local bass club that runs some tournaments. So if anyone would be kind enough to give me some suggestions on lakes, the 3 rivers, tournaments and anything else that would be great. Jerrod
