  1. Thanks for the link, I was thinking I needed something like that.
  2. You will get mixed answers, but if you can save long enough to get the mold of the jig you usually use in the size you like, I say go for it. I got my mold on ebay for $30, 500 hooks for $12, paint is cheap at wal-mart and you can epoxy the heads. Or get the powder paint, it's a bit steep, but lasts for ever. Skirt material isn't really bad either. The hardest thing will be finding good lead. Check local tire shops for the lead weights they use to balance tires they may just give you the old weights that are on the shop floor. Just know there is some initial upfront costs, but personally I think it's worth it. It's gratifying to know you are catching fish on the jig that you made.
  3. I don't know how else I can clean it, or how to do it any better than I have. I have taken every piece apart and washed with warm water, put back together, and still nothing. Glad the new one they sent works perfectly.
  4. Dude was up in a tree to get his jig because it wouldn't break. lol Solid line with the right knot.
  5. Try the alberto knot I've never had an issue, plus the knot is smaller than the uni to uni.
  6. I used to have a problem with Vanish until I switched knots. What knot are you tying?
  7. Tournament this Saturday at Okemah and not enough boats available in our club for the non-boaters thanks to the tornadoes from last week. Would love to ride in the back and go fishing.
  8. I wrote a paper in college based on the idea that fish are basically like people. They live where they live, Fish live deep or shallow and will live there 95% of the year. People live up North or down South and will stay there 95% of the year. Fish like people will go on vacation, but almost always come back home. Even if I go on vacation to France I'll still know how to get home and most likely go back, unless I find something in France that is better and decide to stay. Much like fish can be caught in a tournament and be released a few miles away from their home. If there is no reason to stay, they will most likely head back home.
  9. I guess I have not seen them. Sounds like a beast of a hook though. The other brands seem to keep their diameter the same as their heavy wire but call it their "flipping" hook since it's a straight shank. Thanks for the education on this product, I will be checking it out.
  10. H2O Xpress pliers with the carbide braid cutter, it has a phone cord type thing that attaches to a holster to put on your belt. I wish the pliers where longer, but other than that, it's a great tool.
  11. 7' MH Ethos is my stick of choice for pitching in light cover. Light weight and sensitive.
  12. pic of the finished set up?
  13. Who makes the Strike King Hack Attack hook? I had thought it was a Gamakatsu hook? If that is the case I'm pretty sure it's the same gauge as the super line straight shank hooks. I may be wrong and probably am, but it's what I thought. If they are different then man they look awfully close.
  14. Also a big fan of the Bomber Square-A's it's probably my main shallow crank. Ask ole' RockChalk I've got a few of every color and lots of a few colors.
  15. Only if I was wearing weird colored glasses. And what I say is true, maybe you're the one arguing with me?
  16. Not true, the superline EWG hooks are made from the same heavy gauge wire the flipping hooks are.
  17. I will echo what has been said. Can't go wrong with H2O baits, and you can get 4-5 for the price of 1 Lucky Craft.
  18. Depends on the pond I suppose. lol We catch them on KVD 1.0 and 1/8oz Mini Kings
  19. MH/Extra fast H2O Xpress Ethos 30lb Spider Wire Stealth
  20. Mess with your spool tension on your casting reel. Any reel can be adjusted to cast a weightless fluke. What type of hook are you using? Switch over to the Gamakatsu skip gap hook, it will help tons. This is the only non Trokar hook I use and it's because it helps tons with line twist. I get zero line twist fishing flukes on casting and spinning gear, maybe I'm the one in a million angler, but you got off to a good start by going with braid.
  21. Sounds like you may have too much line on your spool if it's unwinding off the spool on it's own. Technically braid has zero memory so theoretically it shouldn't uncoil. I use 20lb Spider Wire Stealth to a 8lb fluoro leader and have no such issues.
  22. Bomber Square-A, Hollow body frogs, chatterbaits, swim jigs, plastics.
  23. I have a 7'3" ML with a fast tip. I've never really drop shot fished until this year and honestly I couldn't imagine using anything different. It's the ideal action and the handle length is almost like it was designed to be a drop shot rod.
