  1. Kinda what I was thinking, glad I was on the right track. Thanks for the confirmation Kinda bums me out though since I rarely use the treble baits. lol Maybe a soft jerk bait? Slower action may help the fish get the bait deeper in the mouth before the business end of my hooks are unleashed. lol
  2. I got a new Abu Vendetta the other day and was wondering what applications it would best be served for. The rods specs are: 7'3 MH (power) M (action) 1/4oz - 1oz (lure weight) 12 - 20 (line test) I had initially thought of using it for worms and jigs, but missed a couple of fish on the hook up from what I thought was too soft of a tip. That being said, I was thinking this would be a good rod for cranks and jerkbaits. If anyone has any experience with this rod I'd love to know what you use it for. Thanks, PondBoss
  3. I sorta tested out the durability of the bend by lifting the fish out of the water. Both fish about 2 lb range and it really had a smooth even bend seemed very stable.
  4. I went with the Abu Veritas, caught 2 on it this morning at the course while waiting on my lesson and man it seems like a great rod. Super sensitive and stout.
  5. I found the problem today while out fishing. Set the hook on a fish and the line dug right into one of the guides, as the rod bent it proceeded to snap. A visit to BPS is in my near future. lol Any suggestions for a replacement that is in the same price range? $100
  6. If you are using a Fluoro leader than I'd say no.
  7. I checked the rod guides and level wind wind a cotton swab. Did the best I could anyways, darn micro guides are tiny. lol
  8. I just got a new combo the other day BPS CarbonLite Micro Guide casting rod w/ BPS Tourny Series casting reel. while I was at the store I got a 600yd spool of P-Line 15lb Fluoro Clear. I was out fishing the other day and noticed some line fray about 30ft from my bait. No biggie I fish in a lot of trees and rocks so no worries. Just cut off a few inches above it and retied. Not 10 minutes later, I realized I've got more line fray. The thing of it is it is only in a few random spots for about an inch at a time. Any idea what could be causing this? Did I get a bunk spool of line? Thanks in advance PondBoss
  9. I did it twice in the same day with two different fish. How do I know it was 2 different fish? I had just spooled my reels up with Vanish, that's how. lol One fish I actually broke the hook on the hook set. And later my hook and bait were still in his throat. Fish number 2 had my bait and hook in his belly when I cleaned him. Another fish that I cleaned that day also had someone else's hook and lizard in it's stomach. Bass are hunters of opportunity, if it's there and easy pickens, usually it's lunch.
  10. Wasn't trying to hate, cuz I'd so use it, your work is excellent.
  11. Looks great not very Orange though. lol I would definitely fish it.
  12. Big Bite Fighting Frog, it's my new go to bait.
  13. If you catch fish, then it's a good combo. A lot of equipment can be attributed to the Indian and not the arrow.
  14. My guess (and it's only a guess) would be something in the 7' MH fast action area. As far as line goes mono for the Zara, and personally I use Fluoro for my Flukes. (12-14 for each) A typical 6.3:1 reel should be more than adequate for these presentations.
  15. I know I'm certainly having difficulty taking it apart. I think there is mud caked up against the release button on the side, so I can't get either cover off.
  16. I had always heard about how jigs were great to use, so I bought a handful in different colors after one trip I was hooked and always have one rigged up. The second would be Big Bite Baits, they just produce!
  17. Thanks for mentioning Delaware Tackle, I had looked at their site the other day and totally forgot about them doing reel work. Heck I might be able to get it all taken care of for less than $30 including shipping.
  18. Any ideas on who I could send it to?
  19. ok thanks, I've taken out the screws already (they came out very easily) they looked brand new. I'm hoping it's not as bad as it probably is. lol
  20. low profile it's a PQX10HB High Speed reel
  21. I was fishing with a buddy the other day and found a BPS PQ attached to half of a broken rod. It was covered in mud and I'm sure there is tons of mud inside as well. Oddly enough there has been nu rust, so I'm thinking if I can take it apart, I might be able to clean it, grease it, and cross my fingers and make it work. The problem is I don't know how to get the d**n thing apart. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, PondBoss
  22. Thanks for all the replies, I guess I'll wait a lil longer before setting the hook next time I'm out. I let the rod load up on the last fish I missed, it had me d**n near doubled over for a couple of seconds before the bait came flying mach 5 at my face. lol
  23. I was out early the other morning throwing a Zoom Horny Toad, and Bass were destroying it. Only problem was I didn't catch a single one I was using 50lb braid with a 5/0 Gamakatsu Superline hook, throwing it on a 7' MH Rod. I would get a hit (explosion) count to three let the line swim away and set the hook, every time the bait came sailing back. I know a couple of the bites I missed were my fault because of my excitement after a huge strike. But what gives? Am I using to firm a rod (this MH feels more like a stiff H) or is it the lack of stretch in the braid? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance PondBoss
  24. keep the line you love, and get some Real Magic. I was having some memory issues with the CXXX and after a couple of sprays, it was coming off the reel like braid. Love that Real Magic stuff, lets me keep using the line I love
