  1. Finesse fishing eg. drop shotting. Also never caught a fish on a senko. Another weakness I think would be not going with my gut, and over thinking.. Sometimes I just need to let my brain get out of the way and just fish.
  2. Love the rods, not a fan of my optimus X or whatever it is, doesn't get used much. my drag always is a mystery and at the end of the cast it seems like the spool speeds up instead of slowing down. It is a backlash nightmare, so it gets used mainly for flipping at pitching. That being said, I never know how the drag will respond. I have set the drag tight and the very next cast set the hook and backlash on the hook set. I then tried to tighten it more and couldn't, so I loosened it then re tightened it. Maybe I got a dud, but all but one reel I have got with the Pinnacle name on it has been a dud. Love the rod though.
  3. Personally from my studies and experiences, fish live both deep and shallow year round. While I do agree with the above posts that fish can be found slow and deep, I think you'd be surprised how many fish you will catch fishing fast and shallow. Not top water shallow, but less than 6 feet. A couple of years back I had one of my best winter days ever while I was standing on the ice and casting to holes I made by throwing big stones. I was even able to see a turtle and a catfish swimming under my feet. That day I caught all of my fish on 1/8 oz spinner baits fished maybe 2 ft deep in 4-6 ft of water. Fish are a lot like people in that they may go on vacation, but they don't move. If you can find cover fish it fast first, then let it rest and come back slow. I think you maybe surprised how many you catch on the first pass.
  4. I am a big fan of the Perfecta rods. Not a fan of any of the reels I've had. (Deadbolt, Platinum, Optimus X)
  5. Going there tomorrow (Edmond location) hope they have not been cleaned out yet.
  6. cinnamon purple speed craw
  7. Roland is about a million yrs old he probably put his fish in with the co-anglers, but the co-angler too the blame for it cuz no way a Legend like Roland would do that.
  8. 50 yards of braid and a balloon, will let you know.
  9. If you wanna try something that no one is doing on your highly pressured water....Speed up rip a lipless bait as fast as you can reel it. Cast out let it sink to desired depth snap your rod to activate the rattles and start cranking, Those fish may be acting slow and lethargic, but when you rip something by them they can't help but jump on it. This works really well for me on most of the ponds I fish when it's super cold outside.
  10. when the state record is broken I will do it from my lil body of water.
  11. I just got a few of the BPS poppers, I forget what model they are, but they are the cheap ones. Changed out the hooks and man do they catch fish. First fish I've got in years on top, and I've been killing them with those baits.
  12. I have a few good spots and one or two great ones
  13. I have 3 of those reels and have never had a problem with any of them. It is possible to not spend a lot and still get a good product.
  14. We went on the trip, had a lot of fun and had to spend all of 1-2 hours of our time getting talked to. I'm waiting for the time limit to expire so I can go back.
  15. I will expect a handful of them on my door step around Christmas And all the lead you can't use anymore. lol
  16. Excellent job! I really need to get I disagree in gear and start learning how to do that. Great work
  17. congrats on a new PB, it's always nice to find a new place to fish, and it's even better when that new place has some hogs in it. good luck next time you're out, I bet you won't leave the camera
  18. I was in the same boat, I bought a couple and a while back but never really did anything with them. Here lately though, they have been the ticket. Been using the chart/white with a Zoom Swim Tail Fluke as a trailer, and man oh man has it been whacking them. I have found, after actually giving the bait an honest chance, that it's really versatile.
  19. I use Zoom Flukes with the swim tail. They seem to work really well.
  20. I have noticed this too, almost exclusively with the speed craws and ultra vibe. It seems like half of my package will be messed up in some way shape or form.
  21. You only feel this way, because you make the same rude remarks all the time. You however have a little more wiggle room since you are not a MOD of the site. Bad form on RW's post.
  22. How do you get the blue accents on the craws tips?
  23. weightless cherry seed Zoom lizard, T-rigged fish it slowly back through and over the weeds. They can't stand it!
  24. After using it on a few outings, I have made the decision to make it my soft jerkbait rod. The softness of the tip really lets me get that walk the dog action the way I like it. The way the rod loads up really allows me to cast weightless fluke type baits super far, and it works well for light cranks as well. It really has multipurpose capabilities, but will stick with my Veritas for thick cover flipping.
  25. Ever since starting to use Fluoro I've become a big fan. It took me a few different tries to find the right line, but I've settled on P-line, Berkley 100%, and Stren 100%. I use it full spool on my crankbait rod, and about 30-50 yard stretches on my flipping and pitching rods. It definitely transmits better than mono, and unlike braid you can feel a bite on slack line. To battle any memory, I've used Real Magic and it's the cat's meow. Give each reel a couple of shots right before use and one or two through out the day, my line memory problems have ceased.
